Most of these items I have completed this year and last year alone. All hand crafted here by me in Northland. Thankyou everyone for your support. Times have been tough for us all with price increases all round. Hopefully I can continue my work with Rainbow Reins alongside my other work. It certainly has been a rough road to keep at it with less and less orders.

Treatment going well for Carlos he is back in his yard today on fresh pine shavings which are a natural antiseptic but also nice a soft for his thin soles. When he goes back in the paddock I pop his scoot boots on padded with clay and lambs wool to help further protect his thin soles. I am using some tuffrock which is great and help cool the sole and draw out impurities.

So Carlos has had a social day in his yard with friends visiting and a couple of cute hens sleeping in his stall. Little walks around his yard from friend to friend or from one hay bag to another. A nice room with a view.

Off we went yesterday me and Carlos for our vet visit that we have waited months for . It was massive taking all day. Carlos has been lame and we have not been able to get to the route source of it for 10 months now. He has had regular body work - massages and chiropractic work but nothing really came right. So many scans and xrays were undertaken and we have peeled back and exposed some of the issues. Two which I highly suspected. The first being very thin soles in his front feet which we have been addressing with trims, diet and boots for the last 10 months.

The other issue was he was not using his hind end correctly and was very sore and stiff especially in the ham strings which i noticed straight away when i got him back. It ended up being arthritis in his stiffles so he has had some cortisone injections and is on box rest for 2 days under the vets direction.

So devastating trying to get back into riding after a hip replacement and my horse is broken.

Carlos my heart horse was always much admired for his natural carriage, elevated movement and top line. I backed him myself and have owned him since he was 3. I used to ride him 3 to 4 times a week through bush and sand tracks and kept him in excellent condition.

I weighed him yesterday and he has lost 90 kg. I believe this to be mainly the stress from the pain, through lost muscle and the top line which is completely missing.

He actually looks 25 to 30 when he is only actually 15 its crazy how people and animals can age with pain.

I have spent months thinking he had had some sort of accident wondering why his back had dropped and his movement was shuffled. He has lost his eagerness to move forward which was what I always loved about him. So glad today he is in less pain.

Fingers and toes crossed with pain relief and a bit more work I can get his body and muscles back to support his condition. I have alot of experience myself being only held together for years with muscle and no actual hip ball joint so I am very hopeful.
