TD Equestrian, stands for Trish Dakin Equestrian :) decided something easier to say would be so much more nicer than my name.
That is right you've reach the page of TD Equestrian, and yes that is me Trish Dakin. Over time this page will improve, it is to show the progress I make with my team of horses and the work I do helping others as well. I'm a stay at home mum, with a passion for horses. I've worked for some of New Zealands leading Show Jumping riders as their groom, before deciding to have a family, and enjoy ridin
g and showing for myself. Now I'm also totally enjoy Endurance and re-training horses and helping others with their horses. Over the 2012/2013 Season I also took a number of photos while acting as ground crew or as strapper when at Endurance Events when I wasn't riding. Several Photos made it into several horsey Magazines in New Zealand. On the Blog Page it will give you a run down of what I am doing with my training and what horse is where in their training and what events I have planned for them. When I can I will post Photos and videos, the calendar right now has a list of a few events I plan on attending, but most are proposed dates while we wait for confirmation that the draft events calendar is approved, so be awear there will be changes to it.

Thanks Vivant Equi my new winter gloves that feel devine on and stethoscope have arrived. Important items to add to the gear needed for competing. It maybe the down time for everyone, but also a great time to go through stuff and get those items you forgot during the season, or you find somethings damaged. I need to but a couple fo new girths due to stitching or damage to the material on them.
I now also have a better-fitting bridle and halter for Blue for his bit.
Then I need to get a supply of B boost and other items I use during the holds.

It may be winter but it is a great time to check over everything.
Make lists to help you. Like what you want in your first aid box, check it's all there, and if not make a need to purchase list. Also make a need to purchase list of things you will need for the coming season.
Also good time to make any repairs that need doing on anything, float, covers, or replace damaged or broken gear.
Also make a plan for the coming season on goals, places, things you want to get done this coming season. IT can be big or small or even in the middle.
Also don't forget about your own mental health as well over winter. Make sure your doing things you enjoy as well.

Another year and another DRNZ Champs been and done. Sadly this year it wasn't meant to be for me and Blue, the icy conditions had us vetting out after our first loop in the RTT 80km. But that is okay. I am still over the moon with what we have achieved this season. We achieved far more than I could ever think possible. Thanks to all my supporters and the words of encouragement, and help I got from everyone. It means alot.
Of course a big thanks must go to Michelle Saville who on Saturday afternoon decided to hand the reins over of her wonderful steed to me. So come Sunday I got to ride again instead of on Blue but on her boy Sunny. We did the 20km RTT I only had three things I wanted to get done. Finish close to the recommened time. Not fall off. And last and not least pass final vet check which we did. Placing in the class is unknown but I do not care about that. I ended up ridign him like I stole him because the first ten km's was like that, the next ten was fun :) Also I should say I have never riddne nor sat on this horse until this weekend and I am so proud of the wonderful work she has done on this horse that I could get on and ride him and him cope, more so when I had a back spasm that included my right leg spasming as well and hitting his side he just ignored it all.
This maybe the end of this season, but it is also the start of planning the coming season.
Thanks everyone from both DRNZ and ESNZ that have been there helping me this season, the hugs, strapping, riding buddies, encouragement, the kicks up the arse telling me off for doudting myself, have more faith in my horse and everything else inbetween. I've been given some strick orders for next season and we shell see if I can do them, I will still ride the coming season like I have ridden this season, Ride each ride on its own and plan the next from how the last has gone and felt. I do have a bigger picture a goal to aim for.
Thanks to these poeple I tag next with their help I have been able to refine and have Blue feeling amazing but also know what he is being feed and given is safe for him to consume. Thanks and can not wait to work with you all again.
I am finally home safe and sound. Been a long weekend away but an amazing weekend as well. Blue and I competed an 80km Novice at ESNZ Endurance Nationals. And he did amazing. There are so many people to thank for this weekend. But first has to be Lois June Hosking for allowing me the chance to have such an amazing horse as Blue to be in my paddock. For the weekend itself of course Team Miro Daryl Owen Fiona Stephen Jane Ferguson Hilary and Cat for all their help before I rode out during with all the strapping and post ride as well (there were a couple fo others as well names I have forgotten). Having all that help on hand on the day was. Also the words of encouragement during the day too. To Sylvia Ireland and her family for their encouragement as well. Pip Ireland you are amazing at finding banks in the middle of no where where banks do not belong so I can get on when my horse decides I need to do some excerise as well. Then there are so many more people to thank as well and if I list them all I would be here for ever. Also my two fab riding buddies Dave and Christine. We did the whole ride together.
Wairarapa Endurance & CTR Club Thanks so so much for putting on a an amazing Nationals, was a great ride to step up and so worth the long trip there and home.
Been 8 years since Blue and I completed an 80km ride together. Now at 22 hes gone and done it again. We did the ride in 7hrs nad 34mins, 30mins faster than I wanted, but of course Blue thought he knew what speed we should of been going at. His vet scores were also amazing too. I'm on cloud 9 right now not sure when I will come down.

WOW before I new it its March already. Where has the last two months gone. Blue has been busy. He did a DRNZ ride called Waimeha near Waiouru, then the following weekend we did North Island Champs at Kohuratahi. Both rides were 40kms. He did well Waimeha was a challange in itself due to te wet weather the day before making the track in places slippery, or very boggy. Took time but we go through it. North islands felt like a breeze in the park in a way, yes 3 massive climbs but the ground was firm under foot and it felt easier in way than the ride the weekend before.
I gave him two weeks off and we did a fundraising ride at Teck Park ten days ago and it went well he was very must on the speed zone.
Blues scores were great only 2 was on skin recoil other than that the vets where super happy with him.
Photos taken by my friends that involve me riding him. Our next event is Nationals where I will do an 80km on him.

So far our season with Blue hasn't been going too bad, we have had a couple of rides where we haven't passed finally vet check (stood on someones lost shoe, thent he other I made a rockie error and put back boot son at a ride), but those thigns happens. THough the photos attached is Blues proper offical ride back under ESNZ Endurnace and being registered again, been a few years. We did a 40km novice and we got through was really happy with him on getting through. Now to do another 40 then a couple of 80kms if his body says it is all good. Can't have him looking or going as good without the help I get and the extras I give to the old man at 22.
Though can't thank Equine-America NZ limited hes on a few of their products at present and is doing well, along with Hippo Health Cushings support as well.
Ridden photos where taken by a lady on course at the Waikato ride and can't thank her enough.

I love Endurance I love the friendship, the fact we can ride in what ever works and since my car accident in 2015 that has been a huge help in getting me back in the saddle and riding. I still love to show and have added and changed my team for the up coming season ahead.
