With a bit more time on my hands, and Kelly Wilson's horses finishing the bulk of their education this summer (I've been working x4 of her horses for her while she recovers), I am opening up space for two schoolers to join my team from the 1st of February to mid March.

In my schooling, I work to create the ultimate, safe companion by encorperating ground work, obstacles, body control work, hacking, ba****ck riding, adventures through the bush and x-country schooling into their training routines. I focus on building better understanding in the flatwork, encouraging relaxation and thoughtfulness no matter the environment and developing a solid education to help them thrive no matter what level or discipline they are destined for.

These spaces are ideally suitable for green horses, even ones who have come off the breaker, rather than horses with behavioural issues, as in my experience most behavioural issues end up being phsyical issues which generally require a bit more of my time and resources as they usually need to have vet checks and go through a thorough rehab program.

You know summer is coming when swimming with the horses is becoming part of the daily routine! All our horses here absolutely love it and it is great for fitness, rehabilitation and best of all fun for both horse and rider!

Gorgeous safe pony for sale!
Tilly- Bay 5 year old, 14hh mare. Has had two stunning foals.
Great to trim, worm, clip etc and self loads on the float.
Broken in last summer and had a nice rest over winter and now in full work.
No dirt and nice floaty paces. Great on her own or in a big group!
Very intelligent, will be a great kids pony and give her all at anything asked of her! So quiet, absolutely nothing fazes her, has trekked all over the region and never put a foot wrong. Starting to school really nicely and has a very sweet jump! Videos on request.
Ridden at showjumping days in busy warm ups and was great, the most sensible horse there! Not a beginner pony’s yet due to her age but will make a kids best friend.

Here’s a lovely throwback for your Monday morning, Milli at one of her first shows riding the very special Diesel in 2008.
Diesel is definitely one of the farm favourites and is adored by all, he is still teaching all ages most days and the ultimate gentleman!
All the horses have starting losing their winter woollies which can only mean spring isn’t far, have some very exciting things coming up soon, watch this space!💫

Its no secret that our favorite part about driftwood is the beach!

We have endless fun riding over golden sand and dipping our toes in the sea. The horses enjoy getting out of the arena and our students get to practice their ba****ck riding, sounds like a win win to me!

The school holidays crept up on us and we weren’t sure about doing camps this winter however due to high demand we couldn’t say no!

We had awesome groups of young riders come through this week and everyone was brave enough to swim their horses in the not so warm ocean!

All the horses are having a much deserved break this weekend to reset for next weeks camp, fingers crossed the weather holds up!

Dont forget we also offer lessons and treks to riders of all ages and capabilities, PM us for more info.

Our second week of camp was a great success! we were pleased to have some new riders join us as well as our long term students. All the horses were in use this week and are having a well deserved rest this weekend!
Thanks to everyone who attended our camps, we hope you enjoyed your time, achieved some goals and learnt lots!

School is starting next week which means we will be back to our usual schedule running after school lessons.

Our first week of camp is done and dusted!

All of our students made great improvements and we had a blast teaching these young, eager riders.

This week was packed full of jumping, swimming and trekking, time flies by when youre having fun!

One of our newest students Kaia riding the beloved Diesel today in her jumping lesson!
After only 4 lessons Kaias confidence has grown tremendously. Its so rewarding to watch our students blossom into brave, kind riders 💕

We had a lovely afternoon in the paddock with all our lessons today. The horses also enjoyed getting out of the arena!

We offer private or group lessons for beginners to advanced riders as well as treks for all ages.

Don’t forget we also have our adopt a pony camp coming up this school holidays. 🐎

Milli has left the farm for a week(unheard of!) to join Trek for life on their second stage of trekking from Rawene to Pouto! How cute is Sammy wanting to come with, he was sure he’d squeeze in without being noticed... In the meantime Morgan will be taking all lessons and any enquires!

Meet Pebbles a.k.a Princess Pebbles 👑

Morgan purchased Pebbles in Aug 2019 as a rising 5 year old. She has grown into a super mare who enjoys trekking and jumping. Although still young she has a cruisy, kind nature and happily teaches beginners the ropes but can also pull the fancy moves out for more advanced riders.

Meet Trooper,
A long time member of the Driftwood family. Milli purchased Trooper as an unhandled 6 year old in 2016 and produced him into a kind, bombproof mount. Trooper was sold on but last year came up for sale again and Milli knew it was time for him to returned home. With his striking colours and friendly nature Trooper is definitely the golden child who is loved by many. 💕

Meet our mascot "Sammy"

Sammy is the smallest, fluffiest rescue here at Driftwood Equestrian!
Food is his number one priority and standing at about 2ft he adventures under all the fences to find the best grass on the property.
Although small, he is mighty and believes he's the true leader of the herd, you can often find him supervising lessons to ensure the bigger horses are behaving.

Introducing Driftwood Equestrian!

Here at Driftwood Equestrian we offer a number of services to assist you on your equine journey.

Located on the beautiful coast of Purerua peninsula, Driftwood Equestrian is the home for our riding horses and rescues.
We have 100 acres of land, private beach, forrest, an olympic sized dressage arena and a course of show jumps.

We have an awesome team of young riders involved in our riding school and offer lessons for all ages and abilities on our range of well mannered horses and ponies. We will be introducing them on this page soon so watch this space.

Our instructors Milli and Morgan are the ultimate dream team, sharing their crazy passion for riding and teaching. With 15+ years experience in the saddle these ladies have combined their strengths to become a fun interactive pair of instructors.
Our highest priority is for students to learn the fundementals of riding and creating a partnership with their horse as well as how to care for them from the ground.
