When I first brought Lavender and the rest of the cats home, I knew it was essential to get them checked out by the vet. That's when we discovered Lavender had gum disease. We treated it, but unfortunately, it kept coming back, getting worse with each recurrence.

I felt helpless watching Lavender suffer. Despite her shy nature, she was starting to blossom, playing with the other cats and showing her affectionate side. But the constant pain from gum disease was taking a toll on her.

That's why I want to share my story to raise awareness about gum disease in cats. It's a common condition, but it's often overlooked until it's too late. As a responsible cat parent, it's crucial to recognize the signs of gum disease and seek veterinary help.

So, how do you know if your cat has gum disease? Look out for these symptoms:

- Bad breath
- Yellow or brown teeth
- Red, inflamed gums
- Bleeding gums
- Changes in appetite or eating habits
- Pawing at the mouth or face

If you notice any of these signs, don't hesitate to take your cat to the vet. Gum disease can be treated, and with proper care, your cat can live a happy, pain-free life.

In a last-ditch effort to alleviate Lavender's suffering, we took her to the vet for emergency surgery. The decision was made to extract all of her remaining teeth, hoping this would bring her some relief from the constant pain of gum disease.

But, sadly, not all stories have a happy ending. Despite our best efforts, Lavender's condition had progressed too far, and she suffered greatly. You could see the pain in her eyes, and it broke my heart. Eventually, we had to make the difficult decision to let her go.

Lavender crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving us with a broken heart. But I take comfort in knowing she's no longer in pain. Her memory lives on, and I hope her story will inspire others to prioritize their cat's dental health.

Let's remember to cherish our furry friends and do everything in our power to ensure they live happy, healthy lives.

Lavender, a beautiful Maine C**n cat, came into my care about 15 months
She was about 2 years old, but already struggling with gum disease.
The vet's diagnosis was heartbreaking: nearly all her teeth had to go.
I tried tirelessly to give Lavender a quality life, despite her pain.

As time passed, her suffering only grew. Eating became a struggle, her head shaking in agony.
Two months ago, we visited the vet again, hoping for a solution. But today, her throat was inflamed, her pain unbearable.

My heart broke seeing her suffer. Despite our best efforts, we couldn't ease her pain as she would always have it 😥
With a heavy heart, I said goodbye to my beloved Lavender.
She was a loving, gentle soul, and I'll miss her dearly.
Rest in peace, dear Lavender. May you be pain-free at last.
Your memory will live on in our hearts a very special 💘thank you to the people who helped with lavender❣️
