Betty (Sunset Dancing in the Dark)Had her final litter on 27/7/2024.
Her mother was my lovely "Ch, Melody De Baudelaire Imp Fra)" bred by Florence Toinet .
She has always produced beautiful kittens and will deserve retirement when these babies are weaned .
A bit of a worry waiting for this litter because they were not born until day 67 but luckily 6 kittens arrived without any problem in the late afternoon.
These are my first litter by "Anglarna's Jack the Ripple (Swed)" a black van with beautiful body type , long legs and a tail that goes on forever capped with a gorgeous temperament.
He arrived a few months ago from Bradley Jones in Melbourne .
Jack's father being Russian from Solrex cattery and mother from Frida Marklund in Sweden;
3 boys and 3 girls . A pointed girl, a tortie bicolour (stays!) , a black bicolour girl and 2 black bicolour boys

The kittens are now 10 wks and having fun playing .
Being Cornish rex , climbing is all part of the days activities !
Also even though they have to squeeze by the window they enjoy the sun on a cold winter's day

The 4 kittens 7wks old today,
Really one needs two people when taking photos of Cornish Rex kittens as sitting still does not happen very often!
Wish I could take better photos as had to edit after posting at first try.
So now there are more photos of the kittens.
Just returned from the National show . A wonderful weekend at a fantastically well run show . So much work has gone into organising this day.
The 4 Cornish at the show did so well as you will have seen on the posts . As a breeder it is satisfying to see the 4 were related all having "DbGd Ch, Sunset Miss Marple" in their pedigrees.
So again my thanks go to Jean-Pierre Filippi of des Nesmes cattery in France who helped me so much

The 4 kittens are nearly 5 wks old and on the move!
The fun starts and they move into the sunroom next week which gives them access to the rest of the house.
So often their whiskers break when feeding but these ones have really curly ones

Congratulations to Debbie Mason with her venture into breeding Cornish rex , a little different from her other hobby of dressage !
Her show results from the weekend were a thrill because she took 3 cats "Sunset Libra," " Sunset I'm Miss Lindy" and S. Libra;s baby Zebractz Zodiac ( by Sunset Ima Chocolatier) all very successful.
I have attached some photos from the show.
Also photos of the litter here now just 3wks old and almost ready to climb out of the nest; I tabby boy 1 chocolate girl , 1 chocolate bicolour boy and 1 cinnamon bicolour girl
Their parents are "Sunset Ima Chocolatier "and "Susaramo Show Me The Money" (imp Aust)

A cold morning in Kerikeri and these little mischief makers found a warm spot above the microwave which was forbidden as it is Ellie's special place
Little did they know that it made it easier for me to start ear cleaning!

So pleased with new babies now 5 days old all gaining weight well'

Tabby male , Chocolate female , chocolate bicolour male and cinnamon bicolour female
Will be ready for new homes end July and beginning of August

AT last! Penny (Susaramo Show Me the Money) finally had 4 babies yesterday being 3 days late..
Always a worry when they are overdue but she was healthy and not worried.
I was the only one concerned checking each night after due date every couple of hours.
4 healthy kittens born easily so a relief with a first time mum.
Also photos of the older kittens leaving soon for their new homes and now the weather is colder enjoying the fire/

Ellie had a big day yesterday 7 live kittens a lot for a first litter and my girls usually have only 4 or 5
She is a tired girl after such a long and very hot day because number 3 kitten was breech and took a while to arrive
5 pointed or mink and 2 red boys
One of the the pointed boys will stay .
"Suchet " the red or cream point boy who is 9weeks old who was going to stay is now available.
He will be desexed vaccinated chipped and registered and ready to go to a new home early March ( Now has a home)

Cornish Rex love the heat and are far more energetic than the owner !
The only one finding it hard is Ellie (Sunset Belle Etoile ) expecting her kittens early next week .
This is her first litter and she is very large. Dad is Raymond (Sunset Ima Chocolatier)
Miss B's 8wk old kittens have had their first vaccination and vet check and are enjoying having the run of the house
Of course Reggie the Chihuahua loves having extra playmates and the play is quite rough at times. Once exhausted they find a place to sleep until the next meal!

Wishing all Sunset kitten owners a really Happy Christmas,
Also the kind people who have given my retirees a life where they are treasured.
I love to receive news of these .
For those who remember Pierre (Gd Ch Ouhai Thu Des Nesmes Imp Fra) I have regular "letters' from him and now have a book of these Too many to show here.
In April my special girl"intrigue" had 4 kittens One of these a little lilac boy was so tiny a friend suggested I call him Morris the Midget, he was determined to survive and had so much character putting his head on one side to give me a very knowing look when he wanted something .
I was lucky enough to find a good home and he is now a "care" cat.
He lets his owner know whenever her daughter is about to have a seizure. I know that dogs can sense this but this is the first time that I have heard of a cat sensing it .
His owner has done some research and although rare , some cats are able to sense this.
Of course being a Cornish Rex he is special anyway (!!)but it is great to hear of this
Unfortunately his mother Intrigue has died but I have Morris's sister Ellie (Sunset Belle Etoile)to carry on my precious Intrigue's line and character.
I have included some photos of Miss Marple's 4 kittens soon to leave here and Miss B Havin's first litter of 4 babies just 3 wks old
It has been a year of loss with my dogs as well losing Petal Chihuahua and Chrissey (Papillion) aged 16 and 17 yrs
Being crazy as usual I now have Reggie a very distant descendant of Petal He is like a jack in the box with his energy and great friends with Ellie the cat , They take turns in chasing each other around the lawn

7 wks old and having fun on a wet Sunday.
The lilac bicolour girl will be ready just after Christmas but with families often away on holiday or having a lot of visitors she can stay longer if necessary .

Silvy( Miss Marple's) 5 kittens are now 4 weeks old and out of the "nest" and moving around.
Earlier this year I lost my precious Petal (Chihuahua ) aged 16yrs. I now have a replacement Reggie who is full of mischief but getting on well with the cats
The rose "Faithful Friend " has just started flowering in memory of Petal
This spring "Ch Miss B Havin' "is due to have her first litter at the end of November to "Sunset Ima Chocolatier"

Just home after the final show of the season ,the Abyssinian and Somali Cat club in Auckland
This year a special show in memory of Sharon Thomas.
Such a great committee who worked so hard to get this show underway and resulting in a good number of entries and of course the sponsors "Taste of The "Wild" cat food.
I was very lucky with my blue tortie bicolour
"Ch Sunset Miss B Havin' " now 11months old.
How they change in a couple of months, this taken at 9months and now she has matured into a finer build with nice long legs !
25 in her class of adult entires and she was awarded Overall Supreme of the show .
So now like every other exhibitor to start planning for next season!!

Finally It looks like spring .
I think that everyone has had more than enough of heavy rain this winter It even confused the trees and plants flowering at odd times.
My beautiful scented Rhododendron bred by Felix Jury made a mistake and flowed briefly in June but now in full flower.
Photos just taken of the four kittens almost 7 weeks Always on the move .
They rush around and now it is snooze time (last photo)

The NZCF National Cat show hosted by the Dominion cat club this year
A day we cat people wait for every year .
A special day to meet friends of many years.
I took 9 mth old "Sunset Miss B Havin" who despite her name behaved impeccably.
She was lucky enough to be awarded Best in Show and a Breeders Award of Merit in one ring and 3rd in another ring .
35 adult entire shorthair haired breeds all of top quality
Beryl and David Colley had success with "Sunset Sienna" a cinnamon daughter of my lovely "DbGd Ch Sunset Miss Marple" who was top shorthair entire for 2022 .
No doubt they will post photos of her because I was not able to at the show
Also I have to thank Mel Rutherford for taking her Chocolate tortie bicolour spayed kitten "Sunset Kirby and winning Supreme neuter/ spay kitten.
Lovely to see a pet owner venture into showing .
I didn't manage to take any photos but am told a friend has already posted a video of her
Here is Miss Marples award for 2022
Also Miss B on her return home, such a sleepy girl.
We do ask a lot of our cats with showing if you live a long distance from the show.
Miss B had never been away and this journey involved 2 flights and staying in a hotel and a full day at a show and them 2 flights
home so the photo is a a very tired but contented girl back home tonight

It is a while since I posted photos of the kittens and due to a change of plan "Sunset Moriarty" will be available at the beginiing of June. He is a black smoke boy and will be desexed 2 vaccinations and registered with NZCF and NZCR
A very affectionate boy and big for his age. His greatest passion is food! HE HAS A NEW HOME
His siblings are all booked but have attached some photos of them.
It has been a very busy couple of weeks "Sunset Minnie Me having two kittens on the 10th May a pointed girl and a tortie girl,
Finally my elegant " Okonor Alicia "(Imp Hungary) had her first litter 4 kittens without any problem and is proving to be a really good mother.
Her kittens are pointed or pointed bicolours , a bit a early to tell and are all girls

4 weeks old and already into everything
Such a patient mother as all six climb all over her.
Theystart the day with a tidy bed which lasts about 10 mins befrore they pull it all to bits !

Lost pet URGENT
If you have seen "Ellie" who lives in the Kaukapakapa area .
Her family is very anxious to find her.
She is a cinnamon tabby Cornish Cornish Rex .
She is spayed microchipped and on the NZCR
If you find her please contact me and I will contact her owner
You can take her into a vet to have her chip scanned which will
identify her owner .

So proud of my girl Silvy "Dbl Gd Ch Sunset Miss Marple " winning Shorthair Entire Cat of the Year 2022.
She is a very special girl with such a gentle temperament,
She only went to 4 shows and was awarded 3 Supreme and one Runner Up Supreme .
She still looks beautiful but I have retired her from showing with such a great record .
Hopefully you will see her offspring at shows in the future. Here are some photos of her

At long last my two new imports are settled in and happy.
It is no easy task importing now especially when I wanted lines that would help the breed in New Zealand .
Literally it has taken years to get the lines I wanted , Covid adding to the time with no freight available ,
I was so lucky with my French imports over the last 5 years which combined and improved my original cats .
Also working with like minded Bradley Jones and David Morton in Melbourne (Kalizma Cattery) I feel the type has improved,
Now the Cornish Rex gene pool in New Zealand will benefit from these two lovely cats.
Thanks to Lazlo Nemeth for "Okonor Alicia " a very dainty seal tortiepoint with Hungarian and Russian (Corbri) lines in her pedigree and Anna Barabash in Canada for "Anico's Tattoo" a beautiful rich chocolate bicolour of Russian breeding . her sire "Twisted Dream Viva La Marley "(Russia) and and from "Mykro's Razzle Dazzle of Anico"
MY only problem being that I am not much of a photographer and do not do the cats justice !

NZCF Inc show at Te Awamuru

A very enjoyable show at Te Awamutu on Saturday This is my little cinnamon girl "Sunset Cinnamon Twist" being judged in one of the four rings Very strong competition with all the shorthair breeds being judged against each other Also it was great to see 2 other Sunset cats in the neuter spay section "Sunset La Petite Fleur " a lovely blue tabby girl owned by Denise Barron and "Sunset Barnabus " a striking black bicolour owned by Jackie Lawrence Very proud of all three cats as they performed so well. So if any other owners of kittens from me feel they would like to show their cats , I am happy to help We have a lot of fun and make great friends at the shows
