I haven't got the results for Debbie's kitten "Sunset In Paris" but know she did well

A happy day for us because all the cats being shown are top quality and for all my friends who don't go to shows we are judged against all other shorthair breeds

I said goodbye to the last two kittens last week so the house is so much quieter !
They loved the top of the microwave in the cold mornings .
Not so much fun for Reggie the Chihuahua with no young ones to play with .
He plays with the older girls but they don't hesitate to tell him off if he pesters them too much so he has to be content with his "play date" every Wednesday

Last weekend the National Cat show was held in Auckland
The show was amazing thanks to all the hard work by the committee and many others and of course the sponsors who provided so may prizes
So good to see large entries, 35 in the Adult shorthair entires ,
34 in the entire shorthair kittens and 32 in the adult neuter/spay cats
Denise Barron entered "Sunset Freud" , Debbie Mason entered "Sunset Splash and Dash" and "Sunset In Paris" and I had "Sunset Peter Piper "
I haven't got all the results from 3 of the rings but our cats did well with Denise and Debbie each winning in one ring and "Splash and Dash" and "Peter Piper" alternated for best of bred 2 each

The National ring is the special ring and I was so pleased with the Cornish Rex being represented in each section.

Denise Barron and "Sunset Freud" Runner up BIS in the adult neuter /spay
Debbie Mason and "Sunset In Paris " Runner Up BIS in the entire kittens
My boy "Sunset Peter Piper" 5 th in the Adult entires .
We headed back to the motel cats and owners exhausted . Canceled plans for going out to dinner and just dined on what we had in the unit
it was so good to catch up with old friends and also meet owners of kittens and cats from me over the years . Because I live in the far north most of my kittens fly to their new homes so I don't meet the owners until an occasion like this .

Now to start planning for next year's National!

This weekend I traveled to Te Awamutu with Debbie Mason to the Mid Island cat show . we had three cats and stayed at a pet friendly motel.
To our dismay no microwave so a swift trip to reception and explained that our Cornish Rex cats must have heat .
They were so kind and heated our Snugglesafe heat pads also a quiche that we had for our evening meal.
We had a great day with our cats being placed in the Top Ten in each ring and 3 breeders award of Merit .
A win for D ebbie with "Sunset Splash and Dash" in one adult ring and Runner Up best in Show for "Sunset Peter Piper" in another adult ring
Little "Sunset In Paris" did well in the kitten ring placed in the Top Ten all rings.
Back to the motel with 3 very tired cats ,even Peter Piper who is normally very vocal slept soundly.
Early bed for us all only to be awakened by the deafening fire alarm at 1.30am. So we had to wait outside until the fire brigade arrived. Luckily nothing serious and we headed back to bed .However the cats were now wide awake and thinking it was time for breakfast.!
We left at 7am and home by 2,30pm already making plans for our next big trip.

Home after a most enjoyable show at New Plymouth
Denise Barron with "Sunset Freud " and me with" Sunset Peter Piper" stayed close to the show venue '
Of course the two boys kept us awake most of the night but they settled well at the show.
Denise took some really good videos of Peter Piper but I had difficulty in attaching them to my post .
Denise's results are on her page. Peter Piper's listed below :

Ring 1 Judge Belinda Penglis (Aus) BIS and BAM
Ring 2 Judge Denise Davidson BIS and BAM
Ring 3 Judge Cheryl St Clair-Newman BIS and BAM
Ring 4 Judge David Crymble BIS

For my pet owners who always post such kind comments
BIS is Best In Show and BAM is Breeders Award of Merit which is special to breeders.
Peter has improved so much since his first show;
Still only 10 months he has more to learn has such a kind nature so I was thrilled ,
Two flights home but I was lucky on Sunday that the storm forecasted was late .
On arrival at Kerikeri I looked over to the very kind m an unloading cargo and he called out "I have you cat safe Jo"
It's good to be a "local" !

A bit late with my update from the show .
It was Sunset Peter Piper's first outing and he is just 9 months old ,
Being a country boy this was so new to him
I must thank Paul Henry for his handling of a teenager Cornish Rex
who is all legs at this age and on the move all the time. Paul gave him 6th .
In the next two rings he was more settled and was awarded Runner Up BIS in both
A learning curve , he just needs to be out and about more as he has such a lovely nature.
Meanwhile Penny (Susaramo Show Me the Money) 's kittens now 3 weeks are doing well and I will post photos of them in the next couple of weeks

Penny's 4 kittens arrived in the early hours. 2 tabby bicolour boys ,1 cinnamon bicolour girl and 1 pointed girl

Kittens due next weekend to Penny(Susaramo Show Me the Money Imp.Aust) Chocolate mink bicolour .

Her father " Sunset Wishes Fulfilled" bred by me has been very successful in Australia for his owner Sue Morton winning Supreme Exhibit at the Adelaide Royal show 2024 among his other successes.

Penny is in kitten to "Sunset Ima Chocolatier who is by "Rembrandt De Baudelaire so the kittens will have French grandparents .

Not long until the show season starts.
Atter all he road closures last year causing much longer road trips so I did not go to many shows.
Plans made for this year so fingers crossed the weather is kind !

Not long until the kittens move to their new homes .
Just desexing microchipping and second vaccination to be done.
Of course one has to stay!
Meanwhile they enjoy having time out to race around the garden for a while and then rush back inside to have an afternoon rest. Looking forward to the show season as distance living in the far north and road closures limited me last year.

Happy New year to all my friends and those interested in the Cornish Rex Breed.
It is a bit like a circus at the moment here .
Marcos black smoke bicolour is the only kitten still available at the end of January.
He is such and affectionate boy , non stop purr and is going to have a lovely wavy coat.
The others running my house all go to their new owners when the holidays are over.
Their day starts at 6.30am with breakfast in the sunroom.
A bit like lions at the zoo feeding time .
Then it is time to play and as you know CRX's make the most of every opportunity
At the moment I have a plague of little skinks in the garden and of course the kittens have great fun hunting them, catching and letting them go in the house.
By 1pm all is quiet and that means "snooze time " until 4 pm when of course they are starving !
I must say that routine is so important because they have built in clocks
They are very good at settling for bed with full tummies and are quiet until the next morning .
Only 3 adults have the privilege of evening TV and the company of my Chihuahua Reggie .
In all a happy but chaotic household!
Photos attached of Marco and the others in various stages of activity and relaxation

Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and New Year
