If anyone was interested in my #pawgust journey. We have finished our 100km today! Huge thank you to everyone who donated, everyone who walked with me, and everyone who motivated me to get off my damn ass to get out and about! Motza enjoyed every minute of it and we will be making sure to continue getting out and about and showing off Mozzarella’s amazing wardrobe! If you were considering donating, you can still do it! https://www.pawgust.co.nz/fundraisers/kimmaiden
I’ve had a few questions lately about what the dogs wear around their heads when we are drying them. They are Happy Hoodies! They help protect their ears from the loud noises of the dryer, they also help protect them from hearing my singing! (Nothing will ever protect them from my dance moves though!)
If you can guess what song I am singing and dancing to first, you can have a treat pack!
*hint the music to the reel is the same genre and year as the epic song I was listening to!
(Also I am aware I’m vacuuming with a tiny nozzle if any person can get that off so I can put the other head on sometime you can also get a treat pack!)
We made it!!! 1,000 five star reviews in Fresha.
I would just like to thank everyone who reviews and recommends us across all platforms. Seeing all the lovely reviews and hearing the recommendations does really brighten my day.
Thank you for trusting us with your furbabies! Here’s to the next 1,000!!
Here is a real of judgemental sleepy dogs and outtakes!
Thank you!
Winter Special!
Due to an unprecedented amount of cancellations and reschedules (can you all please stop getting sick!!) we are running a Refer A Friend special!
Refer a friend who hasnt been to Lord Billingtons before, and if they book before the end of the month you will both get $10 off the grooming price! How cool is that?!
This is a great time to get into the schedule, once they like what they see we can find some time for them in the increasingly full spring/xmas schedule!
And if you haven’t booked for the year, please do so now. We are at 90% capacity for the last four months of the year!
With this gorgeous sunny hot weather, it’s great to take your dog to the beach/river/water park to cool down!
Just remember wet hair matts very easily so after their fun in the sun, give your puppy a quick brush to make sure they aren’t knotty or matted! That’s also a great time to make sure your dog hasn’t picked up any stray grass seeds or plant matter that can also be painful and dangerous when left in their coat/skin!
Exciting news!! Due to my staff’s extravagant spending on books and Pokémon things. We will be opening later on Thursday nights (to a massive 5pm!! Or when the last dog is ready to go home)
Contact us now to book in! Spaces are limited.
Wow. What a year! I think this has been Lord Billingtons biggest year yet! After doing over 3,000 grooms this year, we will be having a well deserved break.
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for their love and support, especially at the time of loosing my precious grumpy old man. To be honest, I was quite overwhelmed with the outpouring of support. Also thank you for all your gifts this year. We have been really blessed by your generosity.
I am just so amazed at how far the team has progressed this year, I feel we have have just improved in leaps and bounds and our success at Groomalong was just the cherry on top.
I am so incredibly proud of my team and Lord Billingtons would not be as amazing as it is without Hana and Danny. I’m still so surprised they keep turning up to work everyday, they put up a lot with my random singing and dancing all day!
So Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, thank you so much for all your support, and can’t wait to see y’all next year!
Tonight I had to say goodbye to my beloved baby Bill. While most of you saw the grouchy tough exterior he presented to people he didn’t know, or his naughty side to any dog smaller than him, Bill has been a huge positive influence in my life in the 4 years I was blessed to have him.
I adopted Bill at 11 years old from the poundwhen his previous owner was no longer able to care for him, and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. If anyone is ever thinking of adding a new family member to their house I would highly recommend looking at getting a rehome dog.
I will always remember Bill for his unwavering positivity to everyone he liked, and his tenacious attitude to always get what he wanted (treats or fried chicken).
So if I’m a bit slow replying or I leave Hana to do all the talking all the time this is why. Thank you for your understanding.
I don’t post your dog photo? It may be a “day like this” Curtesy of Honey, over two grooms we still haven’t yet got a photo of Honey to post! we do try but sometimes it just doesn’t work out!And shout out to April, she likes every single post and still gets no doggy reward till today!! 😂
Transformation Thursday with Monty!
This is the journey of Monty’s first groom!
A puppy’s first haircut can be very daunting. The new sights, sounds and smells make for a pretty exciting time! Losing all that puppy fluff and coming out as a respectable young adult is a big deal, not just for your dog but for you! At Lord Billingtons, we try to make the experience as carefree as possible!Check out Maisey’s glow up! Doesn’t she look adorable! Transformations can happen at any time in your dogs life. So if you feel like mixing it up , let us know and we can discuss what amazing haircut your dog could have next!
Thank you so much everyone!!! 600 five star reviews on Fresha! I can’t believe it!!Also huge shout out to Hana. Everyone always credits me for their beautiful grooms but Hana has turned into an absolutely amazing groomer and I couldn’t be prouder!!
Here’s a tiny insight into what it’s like being a dog groomer here at Lord Billingtons. From scruffy to fluffy, we'll make your pup look like royalty!
Spare a thought for your dog groomers. It’s not all cuddles and kisses.
Video features the magnificent Sharon. She was not responsible for all these injuries but is one of the harder dogs I groom.
Grooming can be a stressful and scary time for dogs so we don’t take it personally when they don’t like it. Sharon and I are somewhat friends off the grooming table, she is my sister’s dog after all.
Lord Billingtons is looking for a new member to join our team as a Dog Washer. Don't let the role title confuse you, a great bath and blow dry is the secret to the quality of our grooms and as such, you will play an important part of the team.
It can be hard work and requires a level of passion for dogs (of all breeds and sizes), a "can do" attitude and a commitment to turning up everyday you work with a positive attitude.
If you want to make a career change or are looking for your first entry into the world of dog grooming, send me a message!
Career progression is available for the right person.
A few details on the role:
- Almost full time hours, Tuesday-Friday 9-3.30ish, Saturday 9-2ish. Part time work could also be available for the right person.
- Above living wage pay.
- We are located in Lower Hutt.
- You will get wet, but have a heap of fun.
- Full training provided.
We have more appointments available!!
These are now live on the booking system.
I am still recommending to book many appointments in advance as there is such a groomer shortage I will imagine these won’t last for long. So tell all your friends!
If you want to start booking in next years appointments feel free to message me with some dates and times and I can see what we can do!
You will notice that there may be less availability for large dogs or handstrip dogs, if you do not see a time you like then please get in contact with me to make a booking, I have made these appointments harder to book online so I don’t burn out the team!
A reel of shaking! If you spot your dog then well done!!!
I’m still catching up on all the messages for appointments so if I haven’t replied just yet please give me a couple of days! If you do need to move then please keep the requests coming!
This could be you!!!
Lord Billingtons is expanding!
We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic dog person to join the team!
Ideally, you will have experience grooming dogs, however I understand dog groomers are a rare breed so full training will be provided for the right person.
You will join our friendly team to help with the day to day running of the salon.
Ideal candidates will be:
- confident in handling all sizes and temperaments of dogs
- cope well under stress
- enthusiastic about cleaning
- realiable, friendly, have a great sense of humour.
I am open to part time or full time work, competitive pay will be based on experience. Please PM me or text on 022 314 2296 if you are interested in having a chat!
Everyday I hear about how grumpy my little Bill looks as he scowls, glares and yell at you as you come in.
So I thought I would share some of the times he is happy and enthusiastic! (Usually at snack time!)
Three years ago today, I was lucky enough to be chosen to adopt Bill from Animal Services Wellington & Hutt Valley when he got handed in as his previous family could no longer care for him.
For an old boy he has taught me A LOT! Mainly how trainable we are as humans. You would think that someone who had been training dogs for over 20 years would be privy to how manipulative a little face can be, but three years later Bill has taught me all about the 20 odd snack times that are in a day!
As he is a old boy now I think a lot of his glaring is down to the fact his eyes aren’t as good as they used to be and he’s just trying to see you! But if you ever want to be his friend all he asks is for you to bring a snack!
Transformation Thursday with the beautiful Oreo!
