The official count has just come in from the managed areas of Kaimanawa Heritage Horses. At 679, that means 279 horses will be coming out of the ranges to bring the herd population down to 400 (this is 100 more than previous years).

With such a high number of horses needing to come out, now is the time to submit your application to take in a horse from the muster. We are here to answer your questions about how to best go about taking in a horse, provide advice and resources from now and throughout your journey with your new friend.

A white highland calf has been stolen from Carterton in the Wairarapa. This calf was only a couple of days old. If anyone hears of a bottle fed calf for sale please get in touch with the page or email me at, [email protected]
As the calf was so young the owners had not yet determined its s*x but think it was likely female.

Kaimanawa Heritage Horses are desperately looking for amazing homes for Kaimanawas from this years muster...

Applications close TONIGHT at 8pm and there are still 230 horses in need of homes 😢

We have had so many Kaimanawa's in our care over the years and they really can be the most amazing horses.

Please share far and wide, and consider opening your home to one of these beautiful horses if you have the love, time, resource and experience to rehome.

There are also other ways to help, so even if you can't offer a home, you may be able to help in another way.
