R.I.P Bug
On Wednesday, not only did we have one of our mice put to sleep (Eloise) but we also had to say goodbye to our very last OG rat. After 3-3.5 years of life, Bug was put to rest. We adopted her and her sister, Sprout, from HUHA. Our sweet girls were saved from science (animal testing). We had heard that some people had very aggressive rats from this programme but we must have been the luckiest when we got Bug and Sprout. Yes we had nips and light blood drawing bites but nothing serious. Even though Bug lost her boyfriend, Cook, and her sister she became an older sister to Oakley, Freya and Luca. Bug loved these girls so much and they loved her. It’s going to be very tough not having our Lady Bug out for cuddles, plays and TikTok time and we know the girls are missing her too. We are so grateful to have had such a sweet little sh*t like Bug in our life. Hopefully we will be able to adopt more rats and even mice saved from science as Bug and Sprout had shown us all the love they desperately so had to offer. You will be forever missed Bug. Love you always and forever Buggy, Bugaroni, Buggybear, our sweet Lady Bug. 🐀💕
I find these girls every morning in the biggest cuddle pile. It’s so sweet to see how much they all love each other. It’s also usually the same ones curled up on the bottom getting the most warmth 😂 🐭
Happy Mother’s Day to all Rat mums! We thought you’d enjoy this lovely video of Polo licking his foot. 💕🐀
No Rats were harmed in the making of this video 🐀
Ace doing some hard work cleaning his younger brothers. 🐭
1:1 with your rats is such a fun bonding experience. We have a few rats who prefer 1:1 over hanging out with everyone 😂 Arnott being a big advocate for this. Be gives some good boggles while with everyone but man did he boggle when we were just hanging out together. Cute little cuddle bug 🐀💕 #ratsofinstagram #ratcuddles #newzealand
From earlier in the week. The babies are able to eat solid food but decided that having milk from mum is still the best food in the world. 🐭 #babymice #micenz #mouseofinstagram
Day 7 babies are wriggly!
We’ve been keeping a little quite as we thought we were going to have a failed pregnancy again. Briar definitely had a phantom pregnancy but…..Clover has had either 4 or 5 babies! For her first litter we couldn’t be happier! #babymice #mousepreganancy #smallbusiness
We have had a visitor staying at the Lottie and Pascal Bed and Breakfast for the past two weeks 😂 Meet Woody. Originally thought to be wild or a wild rat that had been poisoned, has now been determined that yes, he is a pet rat and that yes, he was released or escaped (we think more released) into the wild.Woody has been the sweetest boy (besides one nip) and we are so happy that he stayed with us. He will be headed off to the SPCA Wellington tomorrow morning where he’ll be put up for adoption once they check him over. 🐀 #petrat #ratsofinstagram🐀 #smallbusiness
Our little Briar is definitely seeming to be the pregnant one. Clover could have a small litter but all things are point to Briar having a litter and hopefully it’ll be a good size. #miceofinstagram #pregnantmouse #newzealand
Griffin had such a big boggle it tired him out a bit and he wanted to show off some more but he could only slightly get there with light eyebrow movement. It’s a hard life when you’re so excited. #ratboggling #ratofinstagram #newzealand
Franklin getting a bath after his paw print artwork. Only 8 more rodents to go! 😩😂 #miceofinstagram #cutemouse #newzealand
Office rats aren’t helpful. He chewed my pens, spilt my drink and licked my computer mouse. Don’t think I’ll be hiring Cook again. #officerat #ratsarecute #ratsofinstagram #ratsnz
Happy international Rat Day to every little rat out there! We hope you get all of the treats and cuddles that you deserve. From Lottie and Pascal 🐾🐭 #internationalratday #ratsofinstagram #ratsarepetstoo #ratsnz #ratsarecute
