Introducing two new family members! Meet Prince and Remy! (Prince is a wild rat brown and Remy is Black and white)

These two boys needed to be adopted out as their original owner’s children lost interest in them and she would rather they went to a home that had the time and love for them. We were happy to take them and have had these handsome guys for two weeks now.

The cool thing about them is that they have a disability/mutation. These boy’s front paws were formed funny. Some are shorter, some are crossed over and some have no nails at all.

Luckily this doesn’t stop them from being cheeky boys with great climbing strength 😂 We’re very happy to have them. Welcome home boys, we love you so much 🐀💕

Introducing our two newest girls. Meet Asha (brown and white) and Willow (white). We were called by the SPCA a week after we came up to adopted a baby budgie. We saw these two girls and they said if we are interested that we could have our name down to adopt them when they were out of quarantine. We said 100% (this was the week before putting Bug and Eloise down)

We knew we didn’t want to introduce these girls to Bug, Freya, Luca and Oakley until they were ready after we put Bug down. They needed time to grieve. They’ve now met twice and I think surprisingly it’s what the girls needed. They love them and accepted them the second they saw them. They haven’t moved in with the big girls yet but in a week or two they will.

We will be making a post about the horrific backstory that these babies came with. That aside, Welcome home Asha and Willow. 🐀🐀

On Wednesday, not only did we have one of our mice put to sleep (Eloise) but we also had to say goodbye to our very last OG rat. After 3-3.5 years of life, Bug was put to rest. We adopted her and her sister, Sprout, from HUHA. Our sweet girls were saved from science (animal testing). We had heard that some people had very aggressive rats from this programme but we must have been the luckiest when we got Bug and Sprout. Yes we had nips and light blood drawing bites but nothing serious. Even though Bug lost her boyfriend, Cook, and her sister she became an older sister to Oakley, Freya and Luca. Bug loved these girls so much and they loved her. It’s going to be very tough not having our Lady Bug out for cuddles, plays and TikTok time and we know the girls are missing her too. We are so grateful to have had such a sweet little s**t like Bug in our life. Hopefully we will be able to adopt more rats and even mice saved from science as Bug and Sprout had shown us all the love they desperately so had to offer. You will be forever missed Bug. Love you always and forever Buggy, Bugaroni, Buggybear, our sweet Lady Bug. 🐀💕

On Wednesday we had to say goodbye to one of our Bridgerton girls. Eloise had grown a hard lump in her tummy. First it felt like it could be constipation but as the days went by it became clear it was either a cancerous lump or an ovarian cyst. She was closing her eyes and was just wanting to be cuddled and warmed. Even though we tried all we could it just wasn’t fair to let her suffer. We wish we had more time with her and could see her become a mum, however, life happens. We will miss you Eloise. Love you always Elowsee 🐭💕

I find these girls every morning in the biggest cuddle pile. It’s so sweet to see how much they all love each other. It’s also usually the same ones curled up on the bottom getting the most warmth 😂 🐭

Last night we had to say goodbye to one of OG’s. Jupiter’s age finally caught up to him (2.5 years to be exact). We thought he’d make it to 3yrs and we think he did too 😂

We weren’t originally going to have Jupiter as he wasn’t the one we chose out of the litter. We picked Arlo and Otis. We received a message from Blossom’s Rattery about if we were interested in having the “left over” (our words not hers). We immediately said yes and luckily we were the first ones she had asked. We’re so happy we said yes to our silly smooth-brained boy.

He was even a very sneaky escape artist, getting out of cages, under beds and across tables.

Jupiter is usually everyone’s favourite especially with both of our sisters. Jupiter even got to go to a primary school where we taught the kids all about rats. Jupiter was more than happy to be held after watching Cook go first.

Jupiter, we are going to miss you bruxing and boggling and anything and everything. We love you so much Jupe, Jupie P**py, P**p, P**pster, our little s**t. Enjoy finally being with the OG boys, I’m sure they’ve been waiting to see you again. 💕🐀💩

This week hasn’t been the greatest for us (in and out of Lottie and Pascal’s Place). Unfortunately, last night, when going to feed everyone, we found that Sage had passed away.

We hadn’t mentioned it on here but she lost feeling in her back legs earlier this year. She also had an accident (that couldn’t have been stopped) that caused half of her tail to fall off.

Besides her trauma she proved that she wasn’t going to be put to sleep. She gave us the middle finger and proved how fast she could be with only two legs. She worked out how to eat, drink, go toilet, get around the cage (both levels). Even though you could see she tried scratching her ears (it was the thought that counted) she told us to p**s right off when we gave her an ear scratch.

She was such an independent mouse from the start. We know that Lottie and Millie would be proud of her attitude.

Now that she’s resting easy we are so happy to have had her in our lives. We love you so much Sage, Hedgehog, Porcupine. 🐭💕

After 2yrs and 2months, our old lady Moon was put to sleep. We had been waiting for this day due to her age. She took a turn last night and we knew it was time to let her be with Tea and the rest of her new found sisters.

She passed away quickly and peacefully. Now that she is no longer suffering we are so thankful for having Moon in our lives. Moon loved her siblings and was always there if they needed a clean, cuddle or someone to lean on (physically and metaphorically)

She not only got a bunch of new siblings but she even was the most amazing Auntie to Clovers babies. After seeing how she was with them we knew that our next lot would have her as the other female in the breeding cage. We are so devastated that we won’t have her to help out anymore so we are pushing back our breeding by a couple of weeks.

Thanks Moon for being the cutest little Fallon 2.0, food lover, golf ball, Moonbear and our fav Fatty Bo Batty than we could have been graced with. We love you forever.

Unfortunately last night we noticed that Emmy had taken a turn and wasn’t doing so hot. She still had quality of life but not 100% so we decided that Thursday would be when we put her to sleep.

This morning we went to check on her and she had taken a further turn. She was cold and on her way out. We managed to book an appointment to get her put to sleep today. I held her to give her some body heat and keep her going. She made it to the appointment where she went quickly and peacefully.

We will forever miss you our Emmy Serafina. Thanks for being the only mouse with a middle name 😂. Love you lots 💕🐭

We absolutely love going second hand shopping for items to use in our cages!

Wooden or plastic kids toys, tie holders (the grey circles), baskets, pipes, shower hooks, etc. most of the things we have in our cages are second hand. It’s cheap, easy to clean, they can chew and destroy it without it hurting our wallets and really fun to see how they use the items.

We love second hand shopping for our rats and mice and they seem to love it too. We also love that we can find decor for our rats and mouse room too 😂🐭🐀

After just 1 months and 10 days of having Blake in our family, we had to make the decision to put her down last night.

She came to us small and we thought once she’s eating and is happy in the cage then she’ll gain weight. She did manage to gain weight in small increments compared to her best friend Maisie (who she came with) but we were happy just to see her gain some form of weight.

She would be zipping around the cage, burrowing, hanging out in hammocks, snuggling with the others and just really enjoying herself. She had plays with everyone and everything was good.

Last night we thought we’d check on her because she didn’t come out. She had lost a lot of weight, breathing fast but hard, and overall just reminded us of how Sailor was before she passed. We got her some food, water and a wheat pack to keep her going.

As minutes went by we knew that us staying up late and hand feeding her like we did with Sailor wasn’t going to work this time. So we took her to the after hours vet and she went fast and peacefully.

Even though we didn’t get to have her long she still got a painting of her paw prints done because she is part of the family. We’re happy we could give her a massive family, a big cage and heaps of new and exciting things for her to eat and do while living with us.

Love you a lot Blake, we will miss our baby of the group. We loved having you home 🥰🐭

This morning when we were going to feed everyone we had found that Tea has passed away. We suspected ovarian cysts as she became quite plump around her lower tummy and bum area. This is similar to what happened with Poppy and Fallon.

We had been keeping our eye on her and she had been doing completely fine and well. Still cleaning, eating, drinking and moving around as normal but it finally caught up to her.

We are so glad to have been able to rescue her and her best friend Moon and have them in our lives. In April we would have had them for a year and she would have been two in October so she’s done well for her age.

We love you Teabag, we’ll miss seeing your face every morning to greet us so we can say good morning. We miss you so much already. 💕🐭

We have some two lovely newbies that have joined us at Lottie and Pascal’s Place.

Meet Maisie (ginger and white) and Blake (black and white). We’ve had these girls since the 20th of Jan and choosing names for them was so hard! But we think we picked the perfect names.

These girls are about the same age as our A litter so born around October 2023. They needed a new home and we were looking for some girls to join our lot and these two were perfect.

We are so thankful that we can give them a new home and some sisters to hang out with. We love them more than words can describe.

Welcome to the family Maisie and Blake 🐭💕

On the 29th of Jan we had made a tough decision to put Mackintosh ‘Mack’ to sleep.

Over the past three weeks Mack slowly began losing feeling and use in his back legs which then made its way to his front paws.

He was moving around and climbing up into Sputnik’s on the ground. He was eating and drinking, going toilet like normal and still seemed okay. That was until this past week each day was a bigger decline.

He struggled to eat food or sometimes just wouldn’t want to eat. (We would still see him eat each day just not as much as he used to) He slowly didn’t want to be around the others and wanted to just be with us. He just wasn’t doing well, so we gave him one last amazing weekend with treats, playtimes, cuddles, the works.

We put him to sleep Monday night like we planned and the vet told us it was the right thing to do. We brought Polo (his half brother) with us because he became distressed and cried when I took just Mack out of the cage. Polo hadn’t really wanted to much to do with Mack over the weekend so this was heartbreaking.

Mack is now at peace and we will miss out cage climber a lot. No one will ever compare to his cheekiness and escape artist talents.

We love you Mackazoid 3000 and we will always miss you. 💕🐀

Last night we had to say goodbye to our sweet boy Griffin.

We noticed earlier in the week that he was wobbly and put it down to three things, his cyst pressing on nerves (because of how far down it is in his skin), an ear infection or fall where he has hit his head.

His ears were fine from what we could see so we assumed it was his cyst as it has popped a day or two before he turned wobbly. We cleaned out his cyst and it actually helped him a bit. Less wobbly, similar to his regular self.

For the week he was given his meds in full that he was given for when his cyst pops. Things looked up a little. We would check for him first thing when going into the rodent room.

Last night he was pushing his favourite foods away and then when having his meds and his breathing became staggered and a strain. He began clicking (very salivary), he started to stop moving and wanted to stay still. It was time, he knew and we knew.

We took him and Arnott (his twin brother) to the vets. We said our goodbyes with tears and kisses and with that he was put down and no longer suffering. Griffin was at peace.

So now we are going to make sure that we keep a big eye on Arnott for health and grief. Thank you Griffin for being our favourite little head tilt boy, everyone including the vets adored you. We will look after Arnott for you. We love you always and forever Piff, Piffin, Puffin, Griffin Piffin, Hippogriff, Griffy, sweet handsome guy. 🐀💕

Unfortunately we have one more post for this year. Our Theo started to go down hill last night and we booked for him to be put down this afternoon, however he decided to go on his own. We rescued this sweet guy and his siblings (Salior and Blue) at a week old. Now at a year and a half his gorgeous life has come to an end. We love you Thea Mia, Mia Thermopolis, Theodore. Be at peace with your siblings. 💕

Yesterday’s day 9 babies! And yes they are that wriggly that we needed to hold them in our measuring jug!

Also we think because it was a brief look the other day at sexes we think we were wrong! We might have 1 girl and 3 boys! The grey and white patches is definitely a girl.

Each day will with double and triple check just so we know for sure and get the hang of it all. Once we know for sure then it’ll be naming.

Day 8 babies traveled a bit around the cage today.

Also we are about 90% sure we have a perfect split of boys and girls and even better the boys look like Edison (patches) and the girls look like Clover (brown).

Day 7 babies are wriggly!
