Anyone looking for a big, beautiful project??
Weiti Flash Gordon is a lovely 6yr old 16.2-3hh gelding by W Kingswood (Ngahiwi Blue Indoctro/Ngahiwi French Lace (Corland)) out of Claudia (half Clyde half TB) who has had many well performed babies up to Grand Prix level SJ.

This dude has spent most of his life sitting in the paddock through no fault of his own, I deliberately kept him for myself but just as he was coming of age to break in I had a kid and then another.. I lightly backed him and turned him out as a three year old, he was a total angel. Just mouthed, driven and walked around with a rider.
More sitting around in the paddock, Lily did a bit with him, hopped on him again and did some ground work, again perfect.. then we sold him to a good family friend last year, sadly he didn’t get on too flash with parmy grass and or the change of environment and very unexpectedly he went a bit Ngahiwi, didn’t want to be caught, spooked at everything, lost weight and was generally not himself and not happy. So he came home again, sat in the paddock some more and here he is 😂

He’s tall, handsome, well built and sound as a bell in body and mind. A sweet and gentle type of horse who wants to please. Moves amazing, big strong push from the hind end and a bit of that Clydie knee action. Never been jumped over more than a little cross on the lunge but he’s bred for it and I have zero doubts in that department.

He obviously has a sensitive side which came out when he moved house and didn’t feel comfortable, I think what we’ve learned is that he is very heavily influenced by his environment and needs to feel safe and led or he’s just not the same horse that we know. So he needs someone who can understand that, spend the time he needs to get to know what’s what and then get on with it.. he will make someone an absolutely lovely sport horse but a fair bit of time is needed here due to his age and we ain’t got it.

His one blot is that he is a bit asymmetrical in his muscle tone on top of his rump (this pic is on the weaker side so obviously not to bad!), something we had never noticed and didn’t actually get picked up on during a two stage vetting that he flew through before he left. But our buddy spotted this while driving him when he was with her. He has no known history of injury or un soundness but he’s obviously compensating in the paddock. Our vet is unconcerned as he is fully sound on hard flexion and shows no signs of pain on exam. Good work will be the answer here, something he’s never had so it’s not all that surprising.

We truly love this big boy and want to see him succeed so will be fussy on where he goes. He’s obviously old to be starting (or finishing I guess) hence the price tag but is such a genuine bloke and is well handled and versed in his basic ground work so will catch up quick smart in the right hands.
He’s full bush at the moment (Lily pulled him in and groomed him up for this pic and video last week after months in the paddock) and is for sale as he is, though he will see the farrier, be drenched and have a quick ground work refresher before he goes.
He trucks perfectly and I believe our pal did some float training with him too as that was her mode of transport. Very genuine sale as always.
Quick clip of him moving to follow.

More photo fun..

Mainly mid to late 90's, mum getting more into her competing with some cool horses, the horse trekking had wound up by this time, It was pretty awful in her words and she had made enough money to buy a house! Which she did, to get on the property ladder.. a four bedroom house in Whangaparoa with a massive sea view for 155k! Sporthorse Breeding getting into full swing

1- a real throw back! Three sisters on board Robin Red in Clevedon, Michele, Mum and Margie at the back!

2- Same same but different! Three kiddos aboard Casper, Macey and Tyler Gill plus me at the back! 1994

3- Me doing some early morning foal loving before school! Pinocchio and mum Sooty, she was a hopeless mother!

4- Mum doing her thing, Weiti Macintosh flying at a horse trial. 5-

5- Mum and Golly- an 18.0hh beast at Taupo spring trial, A nice test but she was eliminated for carrying her dressage whip!

6- Some Dun and Whites! Spook is the mare, an absolute legend at early Weiti and two Weiti Jackpot babies.

7 and 8- Mum with a couple of sporty horses, Baloo by Aberlou at Helensville and Irish, a spicy redhead.

9- Weiti Mac again, handsome but naughty!

Back to the Weiti memories today!
Around the early nineties Jackie started to deliberately breed herself some colored sporthorses, something that was not a thing at the time, skewbald and roan horses were coasty farm horses or western bred.
She started by crossing a couple of her colored trekking mares with San Mateo El Ribadeo who was an almost full TB palamino by Superstud.
Still doing horse treks/ beef and sheep as the main business.

1- Pakeha with Weiti Macintosh, mums first skewbald baby and the first horse with the Weiti prefix, born 1991. He went on to be a three star eventer and 1.40m showjumper.

2- Tiki, a roan mare who mum picked up in one of her first big lots of horses from Gisborne (27 horses), the boys told her "This one Miss, she's the grandmother of them all!" She turned out to be a pivotal part of mums breeding, her filly here is Weiti Wednesday, dam of Weiti Handy Andy who is the sire of our stallion today four generations later. Many of the Weiti roans out there owe their color to her.

3- Mandingo- Mums first stallion and the sire of many successful sporthorses as well as her next two stallions.

4- Weiti Gym, showing at Hellinsville A&P, The judge couldn't even make eye contact with him of course being that he was colored! The winner on the day mum recalls was a hopping lame WB by what ever the new flavor of the month stallion was!

5- The first Weiti horsetruck! Exciting advancements

6-A large Weiti contingent out at Wainui ribbon day!

7- Tulip the nurse cow with Tracey aboard, coming it to milk!

Now if you have younger kids now and want to produce them the PERFECT JR/YR horse.. here’s your chance! You could hardly wish for better breeing to make a super sharp talented and pony minded/fun sport horse. Perfect smaller adults horse too!
Built beautifully, moves super cute and is very bright. 4,500 plus gst

Super duper filly available at weaning.
Weiti Monkey Puzzle
This filly just HAS IT ALL, she’s tall, she’s beautiful, she struts around like she owns the earth but is SUPER sensible and easy to deal with.
A baby horse with so much charisma and presence that is also placid is a rare gift!
By Weiti Krypton (Weiti Handy Andy/ Ngahiwi bay Indoctro mare) out of Lacey (Corland VDL).
Moves big, straight and super fancy.
If you and looking for an absolutely top quality coloured sport horse to bring all the way through your way, Monkey is your girl.
I would 100% not be selling her if we hadn’t already committed to keeping her 2yr old full sister (also divine but littler!) to replace the amazing (20yr old) Lacey in our breeding set up.
EMH 16.1-16.2 hh

While current affairs are a bit quiet with the horses around here at the moment, I thought it might be fun to take a big trip down memory lane with our little business called Weiti Stables!
I'll do a weekly post starting at the beginning!
I'm sure alot of our followers will spot themselves or horses they have owned along the way!
To very briefly set the scene, mum (Jackie) started the business in 1986 when she moved to Weiti Station in Albany with Dad (Graham) who managed the beef and sheep farm there. She started playing around buying and selling horses (she had been riding since a small child and was already a very capable horse woman) and with private access to a beautiful little beach at her disposal she quickly saw the potential for a horse trekking business. This became a roaring success, and along side starting to breed a few horses (and having kids!) she was away laughing.
Disclaimer, things were different back then, you will see a lot of no helmets, no shoes and no cares given, please do not take offense!!

Pic one- A group of trekkers ready to ride out in the early days, Mum amassed a fine team of ever changing horses from the locals of Mitimiti and Houhora. (they usually got wise to green riders after a while and had to be sold on!)
Pic two- My brother Patrick and I abord my first pony Angel, a lovely little 2yr old welsh mare, Jenny the dog and Thomas the cat aboard too.
Pic three- The beach at the back of Weiti Station, Karapiro Bay, a reserve and the scene of countless rides and memory's for those involved with Weiti! Its all flash houses these days.
Pic four- An early colored foal, Squiggle. So many more patches to come!
Pic five- A legendary pony Bill Cody (another northland special) with Aunty Michelle (a large part of mums early horse endeavors) and us on the back.
Pic six and seven- one of mums early horse auctions, a tame looking foal with me aboard and some balloon doubles! I'm sure the hands were flying!
Pic eight- Cheerful trekkers en route home.

A few requests for more pics of Weiti Jack, will get some more but here’s a few and mum and dad.. 😊

Gorgeous bargain rising 2yr old (born in July!)
Weiti Jack, by Weiti Kingswood (Ngahiwi Blue Indoctro x Corland VDL mare) out of our cute little Kai mare. Netherlands meets Desert Road 😂 an interesting cross to be sure but he really took the best of both worlds!
Tough, quiet and bright like his little nugget mum and sporty, big moving and flash like his dad! Should be a seriously cool sport horse. Very correct, no blemishes.
Hard to gauge exact mature height with very big and little in his lines but he’s a big boy for his age already, certainly going to be a good size hack, was allready taller than mum at weaning (14.1hh) guess 16.1hh.
This pic was taken yesterday just before he was gelded, so he’s fresh cut, did great. Handled it all super well. Very sensible chap. Just needs a week or two to heal up and he will be ready to go! $2,000 plus gst!
