Every horse needs to have their teeth done at least once a year to ensure that they are comfortable being ridden, eating and being a horse in general. The make-up of a horse's mouth means that in their day to day eating they create sharp points around their mouth. We would appreciate payment within seven days of invoice date. I will be visiting Gisborne Rodeo Club on Saturday 17th August to give a presentation about the importance of having your horses' teeth done and what I actually do inside your horses' mouths. This will be followed by lunch and some discounted dental treatments.
Come for the morning talk, come for an afternoon appointment or come for the day. You don't have to have a dental booked in order to attend the talk.

Hey team! Thanks so much for all your patience as I’m still catching up on my rounds, you’ve all been incredibly understanding and it is humbling just how kind and supportive you’ve all been!
I’m making a trip to the Deep South next month and will have the time to be visiting clients on the way from Picton to Ashburton. I’ll be spending a bit of time in Christchurch, so if you or a friend wants their horses teeth seen to on my travels, please get in touch! I’ll be around Ashburton and Christchurch on June 24-26th

Today was a prime example of why every horse needs their teeth done!
Sandy is a 10yo standardbred. She is in perfect body condition with an incredibly shiny coat. But take a look at those back molars! They are so overgrown that I couldn’t get my tools in there and we had to call for backup.
This wouldn’t have been an issue if she’d had her teeth done every year, as recommended.
Sandy will have a couple of vet sessions in close succession to fix the issue before she can get back on a regular cycle with me.

What a fabulous weekend for a Castlepoint Beach camp! We were a bit touch and go with the weather, but it pulled one out of the bag for us! Thank you to my wonderful campers for being fabulous and making the hike out to such an epic location for a weekend of learning, hacking and laughing.
We have a saying at Galaxy Stables, "It's not camp until someone falls off" and unfortunately for Maxine that meant a dip in the chilly lagoon. At least it was a soft landing!

We are so proud to be sponsoring Sonya Benison, pictured here astride MF Lexicon waiting to enter the Premier arena at Land Rover Horse of the Year 2024.

Sonya is an 18yo from Christchurch who competes up to 1.30m SJ and 3* eventing, consistently achieving highly in these disciplines at these levels.

Sonya's parents have always been safety conscious and insistent that she wears a body protector, which probably saved her life in a riding accident as a 10yo. Sonya fell when playing games and was stood on by her pony. She was severely concussed and broke her back in three places, narrowly avoiding rupturing internal organs. "This time of my life was extremely hard for the 10 year old girl who had her hopes and dreams taken away from her". She spent the next 6 weeks on bed rest and in a brace, to prevent spinal cord injury. It was another 6 months before she was allowed back on a horse. Clearly this accident hasn't put her off her big hopes and dreams in the saddle!

Now that Sonya has a Helite ZipIn2 she can continue to ride with that in place of her bulky back protector. "I am excited to now have a Helite air vest where I still have my safety Blanket without it being obvious."

Welcome to Galaxy Stables Equine Dental Services and Riding School! We are a local riding school who strive to put smiles on children's faces and see them achieve what would otherwise not be possible! Our riding ponies are safe and reliable, each of whom I would trust with my life and with your precious children. We can cater to any requests and budgets, whether you would like a trek, riding lesson or something a bit special. Every horse needs to have their teeth done at least once a year to ensure that they are comfortable being ridden, eating and being a horse in general. As a Dental Technician I can remove these sharp points and correct any malocclusions, mismatches of the tooth surface, that your horse may have.

We also offer schooling and agistment services for people who need a bit of extra help caring for their equine friend. Daily feeding, cover changes and riding. Sam is an Eventing rider who has competed to CNC105 and has dabbled in many disciplines along her journey to be the rider she is today. Sounds pretty awesome!
