At Barking Beauty, providing a stress-free grooming experience is my top priority. Today, I had the pleasure of working with Melly, an anxious dog, for a deshedding service. Understanding the importance of building trust, I took extra time to allow Melly to acclimate to my presence before beginning her groom. During the session, I made the decision to complete the remainder of her groom on the floor beside her, which helped her feel more secure. This approach allowed Melly to relax, reducing her anxiety and making the experience more manageable. While she may not fully enjoy grooming, going at her pace and ensuring she felt comfortable made a noticeable difference, and by the end of her session, she was calmer and even gave me a few kisses before leaving.
