Horse Business Ltd

Horse Business Ltd Originally part of a 2500ha sheep and beef farm the property is now aptly named Hadleigh Park.

22km north east of Masterton, Warwick and Dianna Behrns have a small piece of paradise that they are developing into a boutique standardbred breeding, yearling preparation and sport horse property. The original wool shed is currently being developed into a stable block including wash bay, gear shed, crush and weighing scales. A horse walker has been installed and new equi fencing ensures the horse

s are in safe and secure paddocks. Warwick and Dianna are extremely passionate about standardbred horses and have chosen well bred broodmares to breed to successful, commercial stallions. The majority of the foals born at Hadleigh Park will be presented at the NZ Bloodstock annual standardbred yearling sales. Their daughter, Isabella has started a number of young sport horse ponies and is currently making her mark in the pony ring in the show jumping world.

An interesting article on electrolytes for horses.

A sweating horse needs proper electrolyte supplementation. Read what constitutes sweat, what is lost and what to replace the losses with.

Beautiful big strong filly born this morning out of Miss Moonlite Shadow by Sweet Lou Woodlands Stud NZ
Miss Moonlite Shadow is by Christian Cullen out of Sirius Flight. Sweet Lou horses have been taking the world by storm.
This filly has some pretty big footsteps to follow with Shadows previous foals including (Mighty) Mr Sharkey (1.50 mr), Ranger Bomb (1.50 mr), Carolina Moon (2min mr), Teddy Baker (1.54 mr) and exciting new 2yo Captain Moonlight.

Galaxy Teeka
by Galaxy Pourewa, out of Barbie (Ronan x Waikura Girl – both Ruatoria bred) 14.2 (home measured) 6yo brown & white mare.
Teeka has three nice paces and is schooling well on the flat with the basics established. She is confidently jumping 70/80cm SJ & SH rounds, schooling 90-1m with scope to burn, Teeka is destined to go to PGP. She has XC schooled and would make a great eventing pony.

Easy to hack out, Teeka has done loads of station work, farm riding and gated at hunts. Teeka has spent time in the equestrian academy at Solway College and is easy to have around, good for the farrier and dentist and she is easy to load and travel.

While Teeka is a safe quiet pony, she is still young, and we feel she would be best suited to a rider that is kind and confident who is wanting a future star to take through the next stage and build a partnership with.

Teeka is clipped, fit and ready to start the season with her new rider.

Teeka will be at the Nth Island Secondary Schools week at NEC, Taupo from 1st to 6th September and available for viewings. Ph or text Dianna Behrns 0272559085. Videos available by FB messenger or WhatsApp.

Captain Moonlight (Miss Moonlite Shadow x Always B Miki) had his career debut yesterday winning his 2yo qualifying trial heat. We are so excited to follow this stunning c**ts career. We have his full brother heading to the yearling sales in February 2025.

Almost 6 weeks ago I noticed one of our broodmares (Miss Moonlite Shadow) was not wanting to lean down to her feed bucket. She had a small cut which I treated and assuming she had scraped it on a low branch decided to monitor it. It started to heal nicely over the next week but then it blew out. The piece of wood that our vet extracted was quite big and deeply embedded. Poor girl. An extra cut had to be made to get to it but it’s now healed up and Shadow is looking fabulous as she enters her final trimester in foal to Sweet Lou.
