NZ Nationals yesterday for led pony, golden horse & welsh classes. We took Summer and Dawn along. Summer did well to win a few ribbons and get champion youngstock golden horse. Dawn handled the atmosphere much better this time around. Both girls are pros at loading and traveling now. When your youngsters are so easy to get ready and take out, it makes showing so much more enjoyable🤗
Thank you to the show organizers, volunteers, sponsors and judges. Congrats to all other competitors, sooo many lovely ponies & horses there! The judges sure have a difficult job sorting through that lot!

Been waiting for what feels like forever for this little filly to shed her foal fluffs! I had not completed her welsh registration as I couldnt see her leg markings clearly. Now I can see them! Hard to see in this photo but she has 3 very long stockings and on her off fore, no white except for a white patch behind her knee 😊

Still recovering from the weekends activities at Wairarapa Welsh Pony & Cob Group show where we had entered 5 ponies! 🥵

The star of the show this time around was Dolly (A***n La Vie En Rose), welsh part bred yearling by Kaimai Rogue out of Ferrero Rocher (Brookfields Up Tempo/Ziggy Stardust) Dolly was sashed Champion Partbred Youngstock and then Champion Partbred Overall 🥰

Big thank you to the show organizers, judges & volunteers for putting on a fantastic show for us! Also thank you very much to Janette Stevenson for sponsoring the beautiful garland🤗 Without all of you we wouldn't be able to have these beautiful ribbons and wonderful show right on my back door step so I really appreciate you all 🙏

Now it's time to recover, and recruit & train some more helpers for next year so my no:1 helpers and I arent running around all over the dam show, swapping ponies around, barely getting to classes on time 🫣 Thanks Amelia Klitscher & Tayna for putting up with my crazy demands and helping to make it work!

A***n Vivaldi Summer - 2nd yearling partbred filly & reserve Champion partbred youngstock. Both Summer and Dolly were withdrawn from the breeders group class as they were pretty tired by then and I didn't want to hold everybody up any further swapping ponies around again 🫣🤣 I need more helpers! Lol

Overall pretty happy with how everyone went, had a few explosive moments from the youngsters ☺️, an outfit mulfunction half way through the day which meant a quick trip home to drop off stallion and change 🫣😆 safe to say we were all pretty tired by the end of the day! Apologies for the lack of photos

Saw this foal leading hack on FB the other day and thought I would give it a try. Nilloh Icecream Sundae and her filly A***n Butterscotch needed shifting across the road and its always a drama making sure we all get across safely. Not today though! Everything went sooooo smoothly!! It bloody works a treat! I added a butt rope just to make sure we kept moving forward and used a hack size halter.🤗 A smaller halter would of fit better but it still worked fine. 👌video in the comments. 👇

Little A***n Gold Locket (Mello) is hiding a little secret 😉 I just got her colour test results back 😁 palomino with silver! 🥰 super happy about that! Colour genetics are fascinating!
I know no good horse (or pony) is a bad colour; however knowing how colour genetics work sure helps you avoid breeding colours you don't want and increase your chances of breeding the colours you like!
So it definately has its place in my breeding program. 🤗

Been working with this little filly over the last few days. She's gone from being completely unhandled to leading, tying up and having her first float ride in the last week. I don't usually handle my foals much at all till weaning time which I normally do around 6 months old. Little Dolly here is the last filly from this season left to wean off her dam now that she's old enough. She's got a super brain on her and so well balanced! Hoof trimming and rugging are next. Looking forward to taking this baby out showing next season. A***n La Vie En Rose (Kaimai Rogue/Brookfields Up Tempo/Redwood Lodge Firewalker) welsh part bred filly.

I so appreciate it when I get updates on ponies I've sold on. I've found deciding which ponies to sell and which to keep one of the toughest decisions I've had to make. It is so much easier when you know your ponies are in great homes with their own special little people like ponies are meant to be 🤗 This is A***n Solar Flair (GG) with her own special little person 🥰 Thank you to Marcia for allowing me to share this video, who says "GG turns 3 in a few days but I feel like she’s got the spirit of a much older and wiser pony She’s so great to have around 💞"

The weanlings leading practice is coming along nicely. Honey is confident and full of attitude 🙄😆 little Loki is so polite and looks to his handler for confidence. They are both tying up well and getting used to having their legs handled. Plenty more life experiences to come for these two 😍

Our Story...

A***n Pony Stud (APS) is a boutique stud nestled in the heart of the Wairarapa. We breed pure and partbred Welsh ponies with the most amazing natures, true to type and character.

APS also operates a riding school for children aged 3 to 11 years old and entertainment services in the form of "Pony Parties" for children’s parties, corporate events and pre-school visits.

Our stud stallions are Kaimai Rogue and Valrosa Silver Shadows. Rogue is by Hillswood FFanci Me (imp)out of Synod Rosie Diamond (imp). He is a stunning black stallion standing at 13.2hh. He is broken to saddle and has amazing nature and stunning movement. Rogues colour genes are Ee, aa.

Shadow is by Koroway Pocket Edition out of Stonefields Prairie Fox . He is a stunning silver bay with the most amazing bold ‘in your face’ nature. Aa EE Zz. Shadow is homozygous for Extension gene which means he cannot produce a chestnut foal. He carries one copy of the silver gene so has a 50% chance of passing this on to his offspring. Shadows movement is very traditional, high action well forward of the shoulder. We are expecting our first crop of foals to Shadow in 2019.
