Ryegrass Staggers
We are see a lot of Ryegrass staggers in young stock and some herds at present. If your calves, cows and horses are showing any of the below signs keep the animal quiet and in a safe paddock off heavy growth of Ryegrass and call the vet for further advice and treatment options.
Ryegrass staggers is a disease caused by eating perennial ryegrass that is infected with toxic fungi. Symptoms include:
Muscle tremors: Especially in the neck and head
Incoordination: Animals may stagger or stumble
Stiff gait: Animals may have rigid legs
Collapse: Animals may fall over and have difficulty getting back up
Behavioral changes: Animals may be anxious, hypersensitive to sounds, or spook easily
Other symptoms: Animals may have convulsions, high body temperatures, or difficulty walking downhill

Yesterday after 14 years of dedicated service we farewelled our amazing Vet Tech Kristen.

We wish her all the best on her new adventure. The whole team here at Kaimai vets will miss her bright smile and big laugh!

Entire Male Ragdoll. Been at a location on Sim street since Saturday.

He was wearing a specific collar if you could describe this on collection.

Being held at Kaimai Vets Matamata. We are open at 8am to collect.

Both boys are now neutered and ready for there new homes. We have had these boys in clinic with us for over 4 weeks with no interest. They would make the sweetest additions to a loving home. Come in for a cuddle and meet Stevie & Duckie 🥰
