The New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale has traditionally been dominated by c**ts and geldings, but a growing number of quality fillies are proving to be well sought-after at Karaka every November.

In recent times the Sale has produced stakes-winning filly graduates such as Dolphin Skin (NZ) (Telperion), Sakura Girl (NZ) (Iffraaj), Gold Bracelet (NZ) (Pins), Family Ties (NZ) (Contributer), Star of Bombay (NZ) (Atlante), Volks Lightning (NZ) (Volksraad), Luvaluva (NZ) (Mastercraftman) and She’s Poppy (NZ) (Alamosa).🎉

Kovalica win a the Group 1 Queensland derby giving the Kilgravin Lodge owned 1/2 sister a huge pedigree boost ahead of the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run sale in November . The Super Seth filly was purchased by Kikgravin out of the Curraghmore draft at the 2022 NZB Weanling sale .

Our Super Seth - Vitesse yearling filly gained a big pedigree update today with Kovalica winning the Group 2 Queensland Guineas for Chris Waller Racing and firming up hs favouritism for the Gp 1 Queensland Derby to be run on 27th May.

We will be offering the filly at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run sale in November.

In Hong Kong the Karaka graduate Spirited Express (No Nay Never) has won tonight. He was known as Need I Say More when trained in New Zealand by Te Akau Racing and was sold by Kilgravin Lodge at the 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Book 1 Sale to Mr DC Ellis.

Now we are home and unpacked we have had the chance to reflect on the NZB Yearling Sales for 2023. We have to acknowledge the wonderful KL team who shine even in the rain! You are a pleasure to be around and work with.
To our clients who trusted us with their yearlings we thank you and we wish the buyers all the best with their new purchases.
Although Book 1 was challenging we had some great success with Book 2 with the top Lot for day two, selling Lot 922 Sweynesse x Oscar’s Shadow for $140k. Ultimately we finished as leading vendor on average for Book 2.
