Breakfast time. Feeding the youngsters and mum Hugför 🥰.
So important to teach the horses to be confident on their own. Leaving anxiety will be solved and you can take them anywhere and they're happy to stand and wait.
Here Gandálfur on his own, nearly tacked up for a ride in the forest. His dad Dökkvi is proud of him too 🥰!
Quality time with Gandálfur and the doggies Óđinn and Cali in Waiuku forest 🥰.
Meanwhile in Denmark, while I was doing my beauty sleep🙈, Lea and Hlynur raced against the clock left, right and centre to arrange last minute changes in forms, signatures from vet's and government officials for Rúmba's departure that evening! Very nerve-wracking and stressful but they made it 🙏. What a teamwork 👏. Soooo grateful for these fantastic people, without them I would never have been able to get her here🥰🤗!
Wishing Rúmba a safe journey and cannot wait to get her home ❤️.
Have you ever ponied a horse from another? Sooo much fun for both you and the horses 😃🥰!
You've got to be able to fully trust and control the horse you're riding and the one leading must have the basics regarding being lead. If this is all sorted, off you go, in all gaits 😍!
Here I'm riding Dökkvi and leading his oldest son Gandálfur in Waiuku forest.
Who needs rein contact for the tölt 😁. Kendall practicing the tölt on a loose rein in Waiuku forest with Dökkvi, easy as 😍. I'm filming from steady tölter Gandálfur. Sooo love my horses 🥰
The training possibilities riding out and about offer you 😃. Let's take water. Some horses never have an issue with walking through puddles or even crossing streams but others are not so sure about that liquid substance. Never force your horse to go through it if they're hesitant. You'll only create fear, anxiousness and they might even loose trust in you. I'll grab an opportunity like this where they're entering a puddle and can choose where to go. Let them relax facing the puddle and gently guide the way. They'll tell you when they're ready. Be patient and at one stage they'll cross 🥰!
Want to know more about how to use obstacles in and outside the arena? I'll be in Christchurch the first weekend of November. Combined with an obstacle course competition 😃. More on this later. Keep an eye on this page.
About to merge the two small herds together soon. Hope there's some more enthusiasm when I actually put them together 🤩.
Gandálfur and Dökkvi in one yard and the 3 youngsters, Leikur, Eldur and Kappi, in the other. The latter can go out grazing but just prefer to lazily hang out with the others.
And yes, they're all muddy, we've had some rain, understatement 🙈.
Can't get enough of watching the T1 finals at the Landsmót last weekend and especially the winners Skarpur frá Kýrholti ridden by Jakob Svavar Sigurðsson with an unbelievable score of 9.39😍!
It's so nice to see the three young boys running around and playing. And great for their physical and mental development 🥰!
