Mangawhai: 09 4314535
Ruakākā: 09 433 4916

Both our Mangawhai and Waipu clinics are open on Saturday mornings. The Vet Centre, established in the early 1960s, is a vet club registered as Otamatea Vet Club Inc. Running as an incorporated society, we were established by a group of farmers wh

o got together and formed a club. They paid an annual membership fee and then employed veterinarians. The Otamatea Vet Club Incorporated society started with one vet working out of a house at Maungaturoto and over the ensuing years grew to include the Waipu and Ruawai areas. This expansion has been achieved by a good team of vets and staff, overseen by a dedicated board of directors and with continued support from our customers. A few years ago we decided to change our trading name to "The Vet Centre". Still operating as the Otamatea Vet Club Incorporated society and trading as The Vet Centre, we remain a well-supported club, overseen by our executive committee who meet monthly to discuss and set policy. An annual general meeting is held to discuss financial reports, review the year passed and discuss plans for the year ahead. When retiring due to 3 year rotation, executive committee members are either re-elected or replaced by newly elected candidates. Candidates are nominated by the club members. Because we are an incorporated society, all profits are either returned to the business or passed on to the members by way of reduced fees. Our practice provides a 24 hour emergency service for both production and companion animals for urgent needs that occur outside of normal business hours. The contact phone numbers for the after hours emergency service are the same as those for business hours, with calls being received by our after hours support staff who liaise with on call veterinarians. Our clinics are well stocked for production and companion animal health needs and pet care products and our staff are trained to assist you with product choices and health advice. Our vets are always happy to give advice on products or problems with your animals, or give individual advice on animal health or production problems on your farm. A networked computer system means that queries relating to your records can be answered at any of our clinics. To become a member simply enquire at your nearest clinic for a membership application.

The Vet Centre Northland entered a new era in February 2024, when we became an independent and privately owned practice. Our 4 new vet shareholders work in the clinics & we have partnered with Franklin Vets, a larger independent practice that will provide our back-office support. Our team members are strong advocates for animal wellbeing and are committed to high standards of customer service and delivering quality service for your pets.

We are starting fresh with a new page. We will be retiring this page so please head over to The Vet Centre Northland and give us a like to keep up to date with what we get up to. We are also now on Instagram!!

See you all over on the new page!
