Frank Griffin in 1985 within the Dept. of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Otago, DRL (originally Deer Research Laboratory, subsequently Disease Research Laboratory and now recently rebirthed as Disease Research Limited) have worked closely with NZ vets and farmers for the past 30 years to develop and provide custom diagnostic services to better meet their needs. In conjunction with
the provision of testing services, DRL have always been actively engaged in research activities relative to animal health in NZ and in the translation of their laboratory findings into practical and usable frontline diagnostic tools. Latterly (June 2016), DRL transitioned from a university-administered, boutique laboratory service into a fledgling commercial agri-enterprise administered by Otago Innovation Ltd and located in a dedicated off-campus laboratory space at the Invermay agricultural campus in Mosgiel. In September 2020 the employees took the opportunity to purchase the business and carry forward the commercial interests. Please contact Simon and Sara with any questions and interest you have.
