Raising ponies is tricky ⚖️
A fat pony is as UNHEALTHY as a skinny one - actually WORSE. Equine Metabolic Syndrome & laminitis end the careers & shorten the lives of many fabulous ponies 😢 It condemns them to a life of pain & suffering.
Here at Grassyards Farm, we grow A LOT of high sugar green grass🍰! While great for TB mares feeding foals, it’s dangerous for growing ponies. All our youngsters get a fresh strip of grass everyday & unlimited baleage/hay.
We run herds of 10-12 in 15 acre paddocks. Plenty of room to gallop & play. Each group munch through 2 big round bales per/week so it doesn’t get a chance to ‘go off’ in the feeder.

Flash is an outstanding pony. Sharp as a butcher’s knife 🔪 but I’m in no doubt about his ability. One more ride tomorrow & he’ll be turned away for 6 months.
