Changes are happening at Mudpuppy! As you all know, times are tough, and the cost of living is at an all-time high. Instead of raising our prices yet again to help cover the rising costs, we have decided on another avenue. All of our wonderful groomers have been given the opportunity to run their own grooming businesses out of the Mudpuppy premises at Otago Petfoods!
What this means for our customers....not much will change, you will still drop your dog off in store and pay at the counter as usual. We will keep you up to date with the changes as we progress, and if anyone has any questions, please email Kim at [email protected]

As some of you may know one of our groomers Emersyn (Emmy) is leaving us!

Emmy has been apart of Mudpuppy since it first started and has probably been bathing and drying some of your dogs since she was about 10 or maybe even since the days back at Kim’s home business in Mosgiel many many years ago 😂 Once she left school after swearing she would never be a dog groomer, her mum Kim (the owner) got her hooked and started teaching her the art of grooming.

Emmy has been grooming full time for 2 years now and has developed some very close relationships with some of the customers and doggy’s! She is off to show Wanaka her grooming talent and will be grooming at The Hound Hub. We wish her all the best on her new adventure and we know she will be back at some point! 🐾❤️ her last day is Thursday next week so if you see her and her dog Meg floating around make sure to say goodbye!

We are on the lookout for a superstar groomer! Due to one of our talented groomers relocating to Central Otago, we have a vacancy for an experienced pet groomer. Hours and pay rate are negotiable depending on experience (can also be a rent-a-table, commission based or contractor position). Please note this is not an entry-level position and you will have needed to have at least 6 months of experience and be happy to groom without supervision (training to be or working as a pet groomer).

Price Increase Notification
Due to the impending rise of the minimum wage and cost increases beyond our control, our grooming prices will be
changing as of the 1st of April 2023. We will be increasing the charge for small and medium dogs by $5 a groom and large and giant dogs by $10-$20 a groom. While we hate passing these costs onto our customers we need to make sure our business stays viable. Our website will be updated with the new costs in the next week.

These wee treaties are the pawfect match for your dog and the heat ☀️

Feeding these frozen or defrosted (not cooked) gives them something to chew on which is amazing for dental and gum health 🦷🦴

We are back into the swing of grooming for 2023! It’s been a pretty busy couple of weeks getting used to holding the clippers and scissors after a break but we are happy to be back into it!

And it’s December!! Where did the year go! With the silly season approaching quick, there’s a few things we would like to say to make things smooth sailing 🐾

🎄 Be kind to our reception staff, they are working round the clock to make pick up and drop off as easy as possible!

🎄 Be kind to our groomers as a couple of them have taken on extra dogs each day to make sure we can get in as many people before Christmas as we can!

🎄 Prompt pickup would be awesome as with the extra dogs we don’t have the extra crates to hold dogs all day

🎄Please make sure you’re getting to your appointment on time! the groomers are running on a tight schedule so making sure your dogs are on time is important. If you are more than 15 minutes late we cannot guarantee we will be able to fit you in.
