We are looking to add dogs to our in practice blood donor register. Occasionally, we have critically ill patients that require an emergency blood transfusion. Therefore, having healthy blood donor dogs on standby can be a huge help!

The procedure for a donor is relatively non invasive. Your pet would be given a light sedation to help keep them calm while we draw a carefully calculated volume of blood from their neck. Afterwards, your pet will be given a good meal and kept in for monitoring for a few hours.

It is not very often that we require blood donor dogs, however, when we do require them, we are always very grateful for any pets that come forward to help save a life.

If you think your pet would be suitable, please email us at [email protected] to register your interest and we can arrange a quick blood test to blood type your dog to check if they are suitable donors for our register.

Any dogs that donate blood for a transfusion will get $200 credit applied to their account for in practice treatments a services.
