Our smallest additions have found their legs. Not always in the forward motion, but looks less like baby seals and more like for legged pups 😂🐾
They are currently 3 weeks old and their personalities are showing. We have established the pup who is the boss, the sleepy one and the snuggliest.
They have also found their voices and have sharp little teeth breaking the gums. Which means in a week or so we can start to introduce food and give mama at least one feed off.
If you would like to donate food for their weaning journey and for mama, you can reach out to the team at PetStock Hastings who will happily collect it in store for us. ❤️
Some of our babies are getting ready for meet & greets with potential families today ❤️
We can’t wait to see them in their forever homes 🏡🐾
❤️ Forever Family Wanted❤️
Meet Mauri (which is Māori for Life source)
Age: 2.5 years old
Breed: Huntaway X
He is Desexed, Vaccinated, Microchipped, Registered, Wormed & Deflead.
Mauri came to us as a community surrender. He lived a great life being his dads sidekick, but it was time for Mauri to find his true family.
He is great with other dogs, cats and loves kids. Especially if they give him cuddles and brush him.
Mauri would love a family to call his own who are closeknit and show love and kindness as he is a very sweet soul.
He loves adventures and would enjoy someone being home part of the day or having other dog company whilst at home. He is the biggest snuggler and still tries to be a lap dog.
He is a very energetic boy, and loves going for walks and if you skateboard he can even tow you along.
If you think you could offer this boy a forever home, we would love to hear from you. Please send us a message
We love getting updates from the families who adopt our pups.
Cooper is settling in well with his big sister Carys. He is such a little goofball ❤️
If you’re interested in adopting one of our pooches we have 8 pups and 9 adult dogs still looking for homes. Please send us a message and we can talk you through the process 🐾🏡
UPDATE @ 12:07am 17/02/24
Just like Cinderella, as the clock struck midnight it was time for Bowie to go home.
His dad had been out searching the streets for him, and saw he was Facebook famous. Bowie is now safely at home after quite the adventure tonight 😂
This gorgeous wee Pug was found in Mayfair Hastings, Off Karamu road.
We at Pound Pooches Hawkes Bay have picked him up and will hold him until we can find his owners.
Council has been informed.
Proof of ownership will be required.
These wee girls have been sharing a foster home for almost a week. Not from the same litter and a few weeks a part but they are besties. 💕
We are so excited that they have both been adopted. Although to different families, we know they will be showered with the love they both deserve.
So they are spending their last few nights together, enjoying all the snuggles they can 🥰
Their foster mumma & sister are first time fosters and they have rocked at it.
This round has been a quick one with both pups finding homes within a week of being in care. But we are so thankful that they have had the best experiences.
All it takes is a little bit of care, kindness and love ❤️🐾
We have reached 1000 followers!! <3
A huge thank you to you all!
We have reach 1000 followers!
This means 1000 people our dogs reach, and 1000 chances of being shared and that step closer to finding their forever homes.
We appreciate each and every one of you 💖
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, much love Christine & Jess
UPDATE 21/12/23 - June has been adopted ♥
🐞JUNEBUG is ready to find her forever home.
If you are after a one of a kind, beautiful, sweet, goofy best mate then she is it!!
June was found at approx 9 months old in the forest and was skin and bones. Her foster family rescued her, got her healthy and gave her the best love she could've possibly had, including training and putting in an amazing effort.
Her ideal forever home would be an active person or family that enjoys spending time outdoors. Pet would be okay, either an established dog or June being the only dog as although she is great with dogs, she also likes her space. She has lived with a cat and has met the rescue cats and doesn't seems phased by them.
June can be a bit bouncy, so if young children are in the family, boundaries will need to be set and managed well. But with good expectations and reinforcement June will settle into life quite well. She thrives on structure and needs to depend on someone who can encourage her and keep her brain busy too.
It's not often a dog of this caliber comes into a rescue situation, and we hope she can be back to enjoying adventures with her humans soon 😍
June is desexed & vaccinated. She will come microchipped and registered also. Adoption fees will apply
Saying goodbye to rescue dogs is part of the job. We learn to nurture, teach and love these precious souls and then send them on their way with good intentions to have a wonderful furever.
But when that goodbye isn’t planned and their furever is not on earth, it hits harder 💔
Lil Pup fought hard to survive his first few weeks earth side. He was rescued, given warmth and shown love. After having a body full of worms, the damage they had done to his body was irreversible. His intestines had twisted back on themselves and started to form scar tissue causing knots. Surgical options were discussed, but as he was so fragile at only 4 weeks old and if he did survive the surgery, the complications that could follow were too risky.
It’s never an easy decision, but he has no pain, no struggle, no fear.
Run free Lil Pup. Sniff all the good spots, roll in all the good stuff, and enjoy that sunny spot on the lawn waiting just for you ❤️🪽🕊️
Update on our little warrior Toa.
A huge thank you to Vet Services Hastings for squeezing us in this morning. Neil was our rescue hero again ❤️
Toa had his wounds cleaned up and all the nasty skin removed.
Has been treated with some medication for the mange and some antibiotics to help with the skin infections.
He is such a character and has had us in fits of laughter with his zoomies and antics.
Lippy has it made 🥰
Lippy and I went for a big drive to her new forever home yesterday.
She has an amazing family, and two awesome human sisters who will take her under their wings. Such a lucky pup.
After a full morning of couch cuddles, Lippy went for an adventure on the farm.
For a girl who normally hides in wide open spaces, she has figured out that her forever family are sticking by her side and she will stick by them too.
Thank you to the Henderson Family for taking on this girl. She has definitley landed on her feet. ♥
Willow is up for adoption <3
Willow is up for adoption and is looking for her forever home.
We have joined forces with Sweet Noah & Animal Fostering Hub NZ to take Willow on board as a foster and help her on her way to her new life.
Her traumatic past is well behind her and she is patiently waiting for the right family.
She is confident, kind, gentle and oh soooo funny! If you don't mind sharing your bed with a snoring snuggle monster then she is the one for you.
If you are interested in adopting Willow please send us a message.
Hip hip hooray for PIPPA! She has been adopted 😍
Living her best life on a farm in Hamilton with her new family.
She has met the cows, loves going for big walks and is soaking up all the attention.
We wish her all the best for her future 🐶🐾
Duckie Litter Shenanigans
The Duckie babies are back to their normal shenanigans after their recent health scare ❤
Siren is still causing chaos, being the boss of her brothers still. Even though she is small she is a warrior. She fought so hard to stay earthside.
Fred's eyesight has returned as far as we have noticed and so has his voice. He was such a trooper with trying to navigate with his vision limitations. Such a resilient wee man
Scout is very pleased to have his siblings back, although I don't think he missed being shouted at by Fred 😂
We are so thankful for the support for these babies and are so blessed that they made it. It was very touch and go. A huge thank you to those supporting from affar and staying awake to check in on our team through the night with messages of love.
We now have the tough job of recouping the costs of their treatment which totalled to an amount of $638.80 and further treatment to get them ready health wise for adoptions.
If you would like to support their recovery we would be so appreciative of donations to our vet account at Vet Services Hawkes Bay.
