Ad 🗓 If you’re like me and haven’t yet filed your tax return, you still have time and there’s a new, FREE, and super simple way to do it
nz is for people like me with a side hustle, contractors, rental owners and small biz owners to file their own tax returns in a way that’s more supported than going it alone through Inland Revenue. And obviously cheaper than using an accountant if you’re situation is relatively straightforward.

When I had my first small business, and filed my first IR3, even with years of tax knowledge, I was embarrassed by how difficult I found it. Plenty of overwhelming jargon, boxes I thought were for one thing which were for something completely different, and help was hard to find.
nz links with your MYIR account to pull all your income details in, stepping you through your return with explanations, pointers and live chat so you can ask questions as you go.

There are some big things coming to make tax filing even easier but for now .nz are just kicking things off with the basics and doing some Beta testing.

Even if you don’t have a small business or rental, you can hop on the website and use the speedy calculator to see what your refund estimate is. .nz pulls everything from Inland Revenue so you don’t even need to know your income and paye details.
