“Saffron” chunky hairy and sooooo cute ❤️
We are a small boutique stud based in Taranaki
Stonehill gypsy cobs began with the purchase of a partbred mare who went on to produce two stunning 3/4 gypsy colts Stonehill Rafferty and Stonehill Finnegan before moving into buying our purebred mares.
“Saffron” chunky hairy and sooooo cute ❤️
Juniper’s Winter coat certainly shows up the Roan although you can still see the silver dapples hidden under there too. Will be really interesting to see what she sheds out like this Summer 🤔
So some of you will know that Pete and I have been struggling with ongoing health problems over the last 12 months and with age catching up with us we have come to the very hard decision to close down the stud and cease from breeding. I have been downsizing slowly and now only have 4 horses remaining all of which will be looking for new homes. However so as not to leave anyone alone I will selling them as I see fit. This is not a fire sale and please don’t expect any bargains.
I will let them go when the right home comes along for each of them unless someone wishes to take more than one.
In respect of this the first 2 I’d like to rehome are the youngsters Juniper and Saffron.

I reserve the right to refuse any offer I do not deem acceptable.

My two movie stars, Punkin and Saffron on Country Calendar
Tonight Sunday 5th May, Country Calendar TV 1 at 7pm
This episode features Lucy Russell from Equus Veterinary. Lucy is who I entrust with foaling down my mares each season. Punkin and Saffron were at Lucy’s while filming was taking place so may get a mention 😊
Can’t see Juniper’s feather lasting the Winter when she’s already standing on it 🤦♀️
E0I “ Stonehill Saffron” Purebred Filly
Eeaa 25/10/23. Sadly we have decided to make Saffron available to a new home. She will be ready to leave around June/July time when she has been weaned.
She is the only foal offered for sale by our stallion “Stonehill Barleycorn” as he doesn’t stand to public stud. Very hard decision for us so please no time wasters. She is PSSM and FIS negative and should mature in the 13 hh range. Reg NZGCA
Beautifully put together little filly that we feel has a bright future ahead of her
Not a day goes past that I don’t think of sweet Velvet, her presence is so sorely missed. Still just breaks my heart 💔😢
Juniper seems to be growing a double mane
So couldn’t resist any longer, joining us is “Stonehill Seamus “ he’s settled in well so far, is very easy to work with and is a delight to have around 😂

A flashback to baby Barley
A sign of the babies growing up is when they move from the baby headcollar into the leather one which normally fits from about 5 months which is what Saffron is now
Just before dark with rain coming in
Photos taken from video so a little grainy
Huge congratulations to Lisa Hicks and her team at the Landrover Horse of the Year show 2024 with “Stonehill Applejack”
Taking out best presented in a big class then the Gallifray GC Inhand Adult Purebred Gypsy Cob of the year plus other significant placings
Very proud to have bred this beautiful boy and for all the hard work Lisa has put into him. AJ we love you ❤️
It already seems like colder Autumn weather and Juniper certainly seems to be growing a darker coat again
My neighbour moved her mare and foal into the adjoining paddock which sparked some interest from my nosy lot 😂
Cute, Cheeky, Cuddly, Chunky Coblet ❤️
Not so lucky with a black tail for Juniper but think we’ll put up with any amount of washing to have a Silver Roan 😍
A black tail is always a bonus !
Barleycorn ❤️

And now it’s Saffron’s zoomie time until she spots me with the camera then it’s over to the human scratcher 😂
So I wasn’t going to post this video, not because of my handsome Billy Boy but because when preparing to do a photo shoot I forgot about preparing myself 🤣🤣🤣 so excuse the scruffy urchin look ( this top has now gone in the rag bag 😂 ) Note to myself - dress up before the next photo shoot 😬
Billy may not have struck it lucky in displaying the solid Classic Blue Roan coat himself but as a future breeding sire he can certainly produce it. With his black base EE and classic Roan ( Rn/N ) the colour genetics are there. Although he himself has one copy of Tobiano ( Tt ) he cannot pass on Roan and Tobiano together. Add in Silver ( Zz ) inherited from his dam and the colour possibilities are endless. If that weren’t enough at present he is the only Colt available in NZ and Australia sired by USA stallion “ Gypsy Treasures Lil Vader “ ( solid Blue Roan sired by the great Pompeii ) With the recent loss of two great stallions in NZ and the need to diversify bloodlines this is an opportunity not to be missed. If we were at all able to run him on ourselves we certainly would be. He is well handled, keen to learn and will be weaned and ready to go in the next couple of weeks. Please excuse his grubby hairy look but it is Winter after all and like many we have been battling rain and mud. But you wait until Spring when all that fluff disappears and his true self will reveal itself ❤️
