‼️2 Missing wee kitties‼️

Keep an eye out for these wee kitties - they have both litterally just disappeared from their home on Huatoki St!! The family are desperate to find them and at a loss to know where they are.

One thought is that they may have been in the engine of their car on a short trip to Bunnings next to us on The corner of 65-67 Molesworth St & Pari St.

Puppy Graduation night is just sooo awesome!! Thanks to Kayla at Instincts First for making these classes so much fun and giving such fantastic help to our new puppy owners !!

Our next classes start Monday 17th March at 6pm. Still a couple of spots left and if you'd like to gain great knowledge, puppy socialisation, longterm help with Kayla - our Canine Coach then give the store a call on 06-7590190 during opening hours. Also a reminder that they need to be between 8-12 weeks of age to start and just had their 1st vaccination for a week prior to classes starting. For hygiene reasons we do our classes in a large area away from where the general public are in our store.

In our store -we aim to help people to NOT create an anxious puppy. If you'd like help with what to expect & the way we get the best results in toileting, behaviour and to help create the NOT anxious puppy - then pm us on this page & we can give you a call or ask instore.
Our systems work (mostly) - but this also depends on the choice of puppy (another very important factor).

We know they work because our customers keep thanking us for the help, advice, for giving the reasons why we do what we do & giving them the confidence to carry through with the process. Mostly this help is given to people before the classes begin as it needs to start from the day you bring your new puppy home. It's harder to change the routine, the further you go through.

It's such a fun time and doesn't have to be complicated ❤️❤️❤️

ROAD Maintenance UPDATE

Right now we have some road works going on directly outside our store!! ATM we have big trenches - What it's going to be like tomorrow....we have no idea. Excepting that we have been assured there is definitely going to be access into our store carparks.

How this is going to work...goodness knows. Supposedly when they take out a roads coloured line it has to be replaced with cones! Sounds great excepting you can drive over a line but NOT a cone. After speaking to the guy he has said - people can just drive BETWEEN the cones....so if you see cones outside our store...this does NOT mean you can't come in - it means PLEASE just drive between them into our carparks. 🫣😊😍

On a positive....once they start...everything normally happens quite quickly. AND...if it's anything like the other new seals around lately...it should be really nice to drive on!

Thanks to all our Pre-K puppy class people for your understanding trying to navigate this tonight too!

‼️‼️Parvo WARNING‼️‼️

Important Info - As much as we absolutely LOVE having and seeing your doggos instore - Parvo is again rearing its ugly head.😢

We don't want to run the risk of Parvo within our store so we are unfortunately needing to do what's right (at this time) and only have doggos carried into our store.

We know there are items - clothing, harnesses, muzzles, halties etc that MUST be tried on for a perfect fit - we are still able to do this, however (for bigger dogs) if you just give us a quick call or let us know you're here from the door we can come bring what you need either to the car or the ramp just outside our store. Smaller dogs or puppies we cam pop onto paper on our counter for fittings.

ALSO - It is VERY hot - please DON'T leave your doggos in the car - if you're just on an outing, unless you're prepared to carry instore then please leave them at home where it's cooler.

For the most part people do vaccinate their dogs but we cannot discrimate and need to help protect all the doggos. Any place dogs go is risking the spread. If your dog is NOT vaccinated it would be worth talking to your vet about the risks.

Attached is vet info about the Parvo virus...ALSO...while writing this the PARVO warning was mentioned on the Taranaki station...guessing it's pretty wide spread if that's the case.

We apologise for the need to do this but PARVO is very serious and we take it very seriously too.

𝐏𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞. Unvaccinated puppies aged 6 weeks to 6 months are most at risk of catching parvo.

𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗩𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗥𝗨𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
Currently, we have been treating numerous cases of Parvovirus. This is a very serious viral infection that can lead to severe dehydration and death. Vaccinating your dog is the best way to help prevent canine parvovirus infection.

🐶𝗗𝗢 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗔 𝗣𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗬 (under 12 months of age)? Have they completed their 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟 vaccination course to cover them for Parvo? This means you have followed the vaccination protocol as advised by your vet and had all required booster vaccinations.

🐶𝗜𝗦 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗔𝗗𝗨𝗟𝗧 𝗗𝗢𝗚 𝗨𝗣-𝗧𝗢-𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗥 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗩𝗢 𝗩𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡? This means you have followed the vaccination protocol as advised by your vet?

New Plymouth Vet Group’s advice, with the vaccine we currently use, is for puppies to receive at a minimum their final puppy vaccination at 12 weeks of age. 𝗔 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱. Following this puppy course, a booster vaccination is due in 12 months.

The cost to treat a dog who contracts parvovirus can cost up to $2000 so ensuring your dog is up to date with their vaccination regime is your best prevention method.
