Since our children were little, we started a travel savings account to give them all an overseas experience when they reached their last year of primary school in Year 8. The deal is that they can choose anywhere in the world to go to, but they have to do some volunteer work. My 13 year old daughter, Gracie loves the ocean and so she choose marine conservation with International Volunteer HQ in Belize in the Caribbean Islands, Central America. Our main role was spear fishing lion fish which are an extremely evasive species as they are venomous and have no predators. The problem with these lion fish is that they can produce 2 million eggs a year and eat all juvenile fish depleting the native species to the reef.
So big thanks to everyone who has supported Gracie with buying pet beds off her and Sam over the last couple of years. Sam's trip will be next year so he's still thinking what trip he wants to do (which is currently tractor driving in Australia ๐คฆโโ๏ธ).
Here is a snippet of the amazing adventure we went on last month.
