Hi guys! This is a wee video of my bookings for 2025….
It has been my mission for the past couple of weeks to get as many of my existing customers booked ahead as possible! Out of the 550-ish spaces in the whole year, there is only around 50 left now and still plenty of clients to book in. 🫣
THIS is why I cannot take on any more customers still, I am simply booked up with the customers I already have!! I’ve recently been able to get a couple of newbies in off my waiting list but I’m back to being full again. By all means reach out to be on my list as that is the only way you’ll get in with me, but of course my list is growing faster than anyone is leaving me!!! 🫣
I have been feeling very humbled and a little overwhelmed by all of the loving support I have had over the past five months that I’ve been open, and I am looking forward to the upcoming months and years with all my beloved clients!!! 💜💜💜
This is two videos that I actually captured a few weeks ago (before the grooming competition so she was getting hairy!!) but it captures a frequent occurrence here; Fable will often choose her favourite toy (a big purple fluffy duck 🤣) and take it out to the salon with her, and then at the end of the day she brings it back inside again! Haha!
So if you ever spot the purple duck in the salon, know that she chose to bring it out herself, and yes she will take it back inside again! 🤣🤣🤣
Before and after of Whisky’s groom this week!
Sometimes Fable takes a liking to a client and will entice them to play with her silly antics. 🤣 This is wee Ruby who was in on Monday, and I think she was a little confused by Fables silliness, but intrigued nonetheless!
I am strict with my dogs that they do not crowd, corner or push in with dogs who come in to see me, as that is just plain rude! My space needs to be welcoming to everyone!
But when they’re mutually and politely engaging back and forth like this, it is very sweet. 💜🐾
(Yes, Fable is becoming a *marshmallow* right now! Four more weeks until the grooming competition when she can be groomed!)
Carrying on from last week, where I posted a video and brushed out one of Fables legs with some tips for you, here is another video taken at the same time. This time I am giving you some tips on getting that tail brushed out!
Lots of people love their dog having a long fluffy tail, but many dogs don’t like their tail being brushed!!! Long hair requires higher maintenance, so DON’T FORGET TO COMB!
You can often get away with brushing your dogs head and ears and such while they’re chilling out with you on the couch, but if you try and get their tail, they’ll up and leave! If you want to keep the long hair, it can be a good idea to be a bit more dedicated and make a conscious effort to work on their tail. It’s just like dentists will tell you; brush the parts that you want to keep! 😉
If your dog has some knots, spray some smith&burton detangler in there before brushing, or use some doggie shampoo heavily diluted in a spray bottle. This can help smooth the hairs and let the untangle easier. Break it down in to small sessions if need be; just break a knot up in to smaller sections and leave it at that, but get back to it again tomorrow and break those knots down even further. Don’t let it go back worse, always keep progressing it on, and once it’s free from knots it will be easier to maintain again.
Don’t forget to give your dog some treats and cuddles and praise for letting you do their tail too! 💜🐾
Well, I am battling an annoying cold right now, but shall stock up on vitamin C and carry on!
In the mean time, this is one of a series of videos I made on brushing Fable, to maybe help others at home with brushing their dog.
Something I didn’t mention in the video is that clean hair is a lot easier to brush, BUT if you only have time for one thing, brushing is much more important than washing… 😉
This last weekend, I spontaneously flew off to Palmerston North for the grooming exams and mentoring weekend held through the National Groomers Association of NZ!
I have already passed all my exams, which is how I am a certified Master Groomer, so rather than sitting exams, I am apprenticing as a certifier/judge for grooming! It is incredibly rewarding to be able to give back to the grooming community, as well as a lot of learning on my part too! Plus it is a lot of fun being able to see some of my North Island grooming friends. 💜
Grooming is more than just baths and haircuts! There is a whole world of fun, learning and camaraderie within the community of groomers, and I am so pleased I can be part of it. 💜🐾
