Where do i start :-/

I'm a fashion designer, thats what my dream was, so how did i get into this Kitty Cat Rescue Buisness. My twin sister Angelique (owner of Kumeu flower farm) and I have always loved cats, ever since before i can remember. Dad tragically died when we

were only 9 years old, so leaving us with Moshie to take care of. Moshie soon became our very special cat to us as he was our only link to Dad. This had a big impact on us growing up. Our father was a good hearted, gentle, intelligent Man who we both adored so much, so to love animals as he did, came naturally to us. So back to how I got myself into this, plus my twin Sis, and my Daughter! Well, I have a design workroom in Kiakohe, and I also work in Auckland with my Daughter so I travel back and forth often. My partner lives in Horeke so I stop at the recycle station there alot. We call it "The dump", as it can look like a dumping site when people throw rubbish and household items there, including... little Kittens or Cats :-(

One night it was very late, i had just driven up from Auckland (4 1/2hrs drive) and I stopped at the dump to check if there were any kittens. It was very dark and a bit scary so I kept the truck lights on. I could here a tiny Kitten meowing, but I couldnt see it. I searched around the bush, and then around the containers..... then.. i heard a tiny meow coming from one of the containers. The lid was locked shut so I couldnt open it. What was I going to do? I can't leave this tiny helpless little kitten. I found a piece of wood and wedged it between the lid to create an opening, so the kitten might be able to climb out. I then rung one of the girls that worked there to come early in the morning to unlock the container before the trucks come to pick them up. She agreed so I went home hoping and praying that the Kitten might be able to get out in the night, but if not, then the lid was unlocked early enough. In the morning, I rung to check, Sure enough,
kitten had managed to escape :-) We had success!!! So then the Rescue mission began, to find this little Kitten amongst the bush. His Name is Zack :-)

From there it became mandatory to check the dump everytime i went past. We have saved many Kittens since and tragically lost some also. Please see our amazing Urgent Kitten Rescue in Horeke, "At the Dump" of our heartfelt tribute to the one we lost :-(

Due to Covid 19 many Rescue facilitys were overwhelmed and unable to take any kittens or cats, so with no other options available at the time, it came apparant I needed to start this rescue. Our devoted friend and furbaby of 19 years Copper, Died in 2019 in my daughters arms when I was travelling back from a rescue upnorth, so in his memory we named our rescue after him �

So began Coppercat Rescue. We are now caring for upto 30 Kittens and Cats in Auckland, and Horeke, with many others being fostered in Auckland. Something as selfless as rescue could be an example to others of true unity, compassion, and working together to benefit not only the Kittens and Cats but also our community. I hope you feel the same and can help us to keep looking after and saving these little souls. Without you, we cant do this, so a BIG thank you to YOU too!

She is our beautiful Bobcat pussycat. She has not come back home (Silverton Ave) for the last few days. She is very timid and very distinct with her short stubby tail. This photo is back in 2021 so she's a little bigger but not a big cat.
Please check your garages or under your house please! She hides and usually does not come up to anyone.

UPDATE 30/04/24:
Moose has a GUN PELLET lodged under is skin ontop of his head!

I took him to our vet in Auckland yesterday as his eye has still not healed and it looks like his wounds on his head and body that the other vet diagnosed as "cat/dog bites" are NOT that, but instead, GUN PELLET wounds!

My suspicions were correct :-( WHO DID THIS TO MOOSE!!!
Sweetheart is STILL MISSING.....and now this may suggest shes not lost.......

We are waiting to get a booking to get an Xray and surgery to remove the pellet hopefully next week. Cost just for this will be over $500. If any additional Pellets found, I expect the cost will increase :-(

His iris in his eye is damaged, most likely from a gun pellet and atm he is blind in that eye :-(

Unless we take him to an eye specialist, there's a big possibility he will loose his eye. I'm absolutely gutted for him :-(

We desperately need help for his vet bills and if anyone can spare $ we and Moose would appreciate it very much.

This is really heartbreaking news :-(

We Need your help!
Our beautiful Moose hadn't come home for 2 days, I had been looking everywhere for him. He came back home in this horrific state this afternoon so I dropped everything and rushed him to the emergency vet.
He has sustained a blunt blow/trauma to his eye/head causing his eyeball to bleed and fill with blood and double its size, and the corner of his eyelid to split causing his eye to bleed externally. As far as we can see atm there is no damage to his eyeball. He has also sustained what could either be, cat or dog bites or some other trauma over his body. He has 2 wounds/holes ontop of his head, one hole on his neck, one hole on his back beside his spine and one hole on the base of his spine to his tail. What on earth happened to him???
We will be going back to vet Wednesday/Thursday to review how hes doing and recheck his eye.
If anyone can help with a small donation towards the vet bill we would really appreciate this immensely.

Do you believe this could be from a dog or cat fight or from something deliberate???

I look at the wounds and only see 1 puncture in each wound area apart from the head where there is 2 punture wounds which are uneven.
A dog or cat fight, i would not think could cause blunt trauma to a cats eye/head so I am at a loss of what to think :-(
Our few Pussycats that are allowed out during the day are always inside at night so It was very unusual for Moose to not come back when he was called.
Has anyone else had this happen to thier pussycat?

Have you lost this beautiful little boy? He was found just inside the white line to the onramp to the State Highway 18 highway at Westgate, Auckland.
There are no marks on him whatsoever, no signs of poisoning, so what happened to him 🙁 ? Photos will be added in the comments .
Please share if you know of someone who has lost their little boy - He is desexed, no microchip sadly. approx. 5 months old. He is mainly white with black markings. He is being held at The NZ Cat Foundation

Meet Sunflower 💞 now relaxing in the sun.

She had a full on sezuire yesterday morning. Its the scariest thing to go thru. I know this well from experiance with my own family, but when it comes to a little young kittycat unexpectantly it takes you by surprise.

I held her gently on her side to stop her hurting herself as she was throwing herself everywhere on the Catio deck. I prayed for this to stop as it seemed like eternity, but eventually the sezuire subsided. She wasnt responsive so i kept holding her n patting her chest. Was considering doing cpr but then she started to breath again.
I just held her in my arms for ages saying thank you thank you thank you to the universe.

Rung the vet and they took her as soon as they could. Her eyes, heartbeat and breathing had gone back to normal and she had no temperature. They have taken bloods to see if theres any underlying issue thats caused this. Im still waiting to hear back.

Sezuires in cats are very rare, so im wondering if anyone else has had this experiance with thier pussycat?

Sunflower possibly had a sezuire about 10months ago when in foster care, she was checked by the vet then but theres was no diagnosis.

We would welcome any donations towards Sunflowers vet bill or anything else that could help her get thru this. We are so stretched atm, anything would be gratefully accepted ❤

Beautiful black n white boy kitten found hit on Te Raukau drive, Pakuranga approx outside no 136. He sadly passed away as i picked his little body up off the road, while diverting traffic away from him while he was unconscious!!!
Have you lost your little boy??? Approx 4 -5 months old.

Hes not eating and drinking so hes back into vet hospital tonight! They want to run blood tests and check for FIV and Lukemia. PLEASE UNIVERSE LET HIM BE ALL CLEAR!!! Our Story

One crazy catgirl going the extra mile to save dumped, lost or abandoned kittens and cats. Rescuing cats started way back when i was a school kid... my twin and I trying to stuff a cat into my school bag... who i was sure, was lost :-) Mum however, didnt share my same thoughts. Was my twin sisters fault i told her :-)

Glad to say now, we havn't lost our passion!

Real rescues started @ the Horeke dump in Northland, rescuing a dumped kitten in 2017 (Zack), and then in Nov 2019, seeing a real problem in the area, took care of new kittens that were abandoned, which then lead to caring and feeding more kittens and cats, (Jerry -photo) gaining thier trust and confidence, eventually trapping some of them to resuce them.

We continue to rescue from the dump today and anywhere a kitten or cat is in need.
