Okato Vet clinic is pleased to announce that we have been able to acquire the new rabbit vaccine Filavac, the RHDV 1 and 2 (rabbit haemorrhagic disease) vaccine.🐇🐰🐇

We strongly recommend that all rabbits are immediately vaccinated with Filavac as soon as possible, even if they have been vaccinated with Cylap within the past 12 months. This will help ensure they are protected against the nasty V2 strain while also boosting immunity against existing V1 strains.

Back in December an injured juvenile Kereru was brought into the clinic after being rescued from the jaws of a cat by Sarah. We anaesthetised, x-rayed him and stitched his wounds, gave him meds and fluids then sent him down to the Wildbase hospital at Massey University thanks to the generous help of Integrity Couriers (Whanganui) and Bird Rescue Whanganui Manawatu. He has spent the last 4 months at Central Energy Trust Wildbase Recovery regaining his strength! This week he was returned to New Plymouth by Aramex couriers. Yesterday I collected him and was stoked to ask Sarah (who originally rescued him) to do the honours and release him back into the wild, close to where he was found! SB.
