!!!!WARNING!!!
Possum Coil Spring Traps Have been found 10-15 meters from the stopbank on burnside road. As stated by a nz website selling these traps "Easy to set and conceal, these traps lay flat and lock up quickly for maximum success in dirt hole sets."
Today a small dogs foot was caught in a coil spring trap chained behind a fallen tree and needed immediate veterinary care, the dog was in shock and needed carrying because she couldn't walk.
In 8 years of walking I have never experienced something this disgusting in a publicly accessable walking area, where no doubt numerous dogs are walked daily. If you're going to trap, trap on your own land, not where civillians and pets walk and play.
Please be mindful, keep an eye on thick brush and felled trees. The council will be contacted, informed and the trap will be handed in and hopefully destroyed.
