On a roll with rides two weeks in a row, rides out on Friday, Saturday and Monday with
Misty Mondays and Fabulous🌤 Fridays. . .

Lance is home from being started @ Maungatua Equestrian and had couple rides.
Big thanks to Ruth Andrews for bringing him home because we've had some bad luck with tow vehicle. We look forward to seeing him progress into a successful team member as he gets more miles under saddle.

Clients have loved viewing and cuddling puppies a bit of a distraction at work recently.

1st week of June been and gone, we are officially closed for winter but as per usual if you book in advance and have some flexibility we'll take a few rides out over winter if weather and ground conditions are suitable. 2 rides already booked for next weekend.

May updates
Lance has been away at Maungatua Equestrian to be started professionally and is staying longer than planned due to unforseen vehicle issues and workload at home. Excited to see his progress.

We've had a few rides out since our busy birthday party ride weekend the 1st weekend of May.

Two lucky horses DeeDee and Kev visited Mane Equine Services on 24th for body work by Beck Scott, hopefully we can get Beck down to treat more horses. DeeDee been a bit spoilt as also had treatment earlier in the month by Britta BB Horse Care - Back to balance bodywork by Britta Bruns who also runs Soul and saddle - online anxiety coaching & Yoga for riders. We are very lucky to have Britta treat our horses semi regularly as she enjoys some weekends off very close to us. So a big thanks to Britta for fitting our horses in on your weekends off.
Body work is so essential for our hard working team.

31st May we had five riders 2x mother and son pairs out for 1.5 hour farm and beach ride to finish the month with 2 South Otago locals 1 from Canterbury and 2 from London.

Also 2 rides out this month 🇮🇪 to start June

Winter rides are very limited due to weather, ground conditions and other farm and family commitments.

Book ahead and be prepared to stay longer and be flexible to work with weather.

May is here with winter just round the corner. 🌦🌧🌥🌨❄️ The horses are growing their fuffy winter coats to help keep them warm and dry over winter.

Today we had 2 couples, 1 from Netherlands and 1 from Germany out on 2 hour farm, forest and beach ride, first group ride for May.

April has been and gone with a busy 2 weeks of school holiday rides. We had Sarah a SIT Telford Campus Equine student for 5 days work experience during second week. She enjoyed it so much she came back on Sunday with a friend and her sister to do a 2 hour ride with us. Thanks Sarah.

Busy weekend coming up with a ladies birthday party group on Saturday and 2 hour ride Sunday morning followed by another birthday party group in the afternoon. Hope the weather is kind to us, been bit colder lately.

Will soon be time to slow down for winter catch up on maintence, marketing and overdue admin! We will be taking bookings until the end of May, then case by case over winter depending on ground and weather conditions.

NEW DATE: ZOOM TALK WITH KELLY ABOUT THE MUSTER, REHOMING, THE KAIMANAWA HERD AND Q&A!

Monday 8th April, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Tomorrow night I have a SECOND 90 minute Zoom talk, for anyone interested in hearing more about the Kaimanawa Horse Muster, taming wild horses, rehoming a wild horse, and information we have gathered on the herd over the years.

$15 per household to attend, with 100% of proceeds going to Kaimanawa Legacy Foundation.

From a child’s perspective:
loved learning about the Kaimanawas with Kelly. She knew so much about them and their families, and it made me want to be able to train a Kaimanawa when I am older.

From a parents perspective:
I initially signed up for Kelly’s Zoom session for my daughter Heidi, who is a big fan of her books. However, as the session progressed, I found myself just as engrossed in the content as she was. The entire session was engaging and interesting. Kelly’s vast horsemanship knowledge was evident throughout, and it was incredibly inspiring to hear the way she speaks about the Kaimanawas, and the process of empathetically supporting them through the domestication process. Kelly described each of them with a reverence - it was obvious she really understands and deeply respects each horse she works with. Kelly’s Q&A at the end was just as fascinating, and both my daughter and I learned a lot from the session.
While my connection to the equine world is through my daughter’s love of ponies and horses, and so I am very much a novice in that space, Kelly’s talk opened a door for me to more seriously consider horse ownership, encouraged me to ensure that my daughter has as many opportunities as possible to foster her passion and continue to develop her skills, and sparked an interest in the plight of the Kaimanawas that I hadn’t fully understood before. Thank you Kelly.

Late March autumn 🍁🍂🌦 update

Weather 🌥🌦🌧⛅️🌤🌧has turned horses are growing there winter woolies bookings are ticking along quietly.

Clients rides out Mon-Wednesday last week and this week . . . Some people want ride in the 🌧🌦

Was a quiet weekend on the client side a real change after two weekends of turning people away because we didn't have availability but a great chance to catch up on some maintenance and have some family time.
