Lauren Wood (Motueka) had plenty to smile 😍 about when she and Dingmac Dark Mocha headed home the Hilton Press NZ 1m Pony Championship today. “I am just so happy 🥳 with how she is jumping at the moment,” she said of the pony she has been riding for around three seasons now. Finishing second 🥈today was Sophie Smith (Timaru) aboard Counting Stars with Sophie White (Edendale) and Call Me Pengu in third 🥉.

The stork came earlier than expected this year and altered my plans for the weekend! A lovely little filly by Mackie (welsh D) out of Wiggy (hackney x Dartmoor). It has always been the plan to mix Mackie (Machno Sportsman) and Dinger (Shilstone Dinger Tor) bloodlines but this is the first time we've done it. Purpose bred for harness, it is lovely to know that this girl has had her long term home lined up since before she started!

A great weekend at McLeans Island for the Labour Weekend Showjumping. Managed to catch up with three of the family, Dingmac Eccles, Graduate and Dark Mocha...and caught a glimpse of Dingmac Fable in the distance with a ribbon round his neck. Wish someone would sort out the cell phone coverage down there and organise an app that meant tired legs didn't having to keep running between rings only to still miss seeing rounds ! Anyway it was first time "proper" show jumping for Graduate so thrilled he got a ribbon. Eccles only took off his eventing hat a couple of weeks ago so a big step up to come out and do his first horse Mini Prix. As always a big thank you to Rebecca Wardle for producing these horses so well ...and for the cups of tea :)

Rebecca Wardle and Dingmac Eccles put in a very solid double clear to win his 105cm class - only his fifth event! What will the next 3 or 4 years bring ?? Eccles is a good sized hack by pony stallion Machno Sportsman out of a tb mare Aunty Vi.

Very proud to be cheering on the side lines, supporting Rebecca Wardle and Dingmac Disco King (Elvis) at their first ever trip to Horse of the Year (NZ). It was very much a learning experience for all of us and 3rd place in the 1.20 champs was the icing on the cake. Check out the size difference between Elvis (yellow ribbon) and his fellow competitors! And wait to see his comment on the occasion ;) Sharyn Greer check out your girl looking fabulous in blue! This is the kind of assistance I get when I am trying to trim feet. Imp by name and Imp by nature, 2 yo dartmoor gelding (by Dingmac Archie) "helping" with yearling colt welsh partbred Jedi (by Machno Sportsman). I need a new hat.
I have been giving the ponies an organic yeast selenium drench for a while now. The little guys are on a forage only diet so there is no bucket feed to add it to. It took me a couple of hours to do it first time now we are down to minutes, no head collaring required....and Hoppy can even do it herself when I am not concentrating and have a camera in one hand!
Super proud of Rebecca Wardle and Dingmac Disco King (Elvis) by Machno Sportsman completing their first pony Grand Prix today to finish 4th. A couple of green errors in the first round more than made up for by a super clear second round. Not bad for a 13.1 (and a half!) pony :) - and Machno Sportsman breeds great hacks too!

The weather has been pretty rubbish lately, so Dingmac Fable (by Machno Sportsman) took full advantage of a sunny (but very chilly!) Sunday afternoon .....
We keep slowly adding to the ponies' track way system. Today we opened a new section and the Darties (and a few partbreds!) gave it their seal of approval. Just got to plant some more trees now...
