Blessed to have Holly take him on an outing while I attended Athletics day with my daughter.

It was a solo trip so she used the Pivo for the first time 🙃

Her words were “he’s so cool” 😎
I’m happy with that.

Thanks to Horsewyse for the quick response and allowing us to use the arena.

Chilled as ever working in the open space.
Was lucky to have some bodywork and enjoys the equissage.

A quick hack out yesterday then a bit of flat work on both reins. Holly couldn’t resist one pop over the log at the end.

She’s weaker through her left side though improvements are definitely been made and she is softer through her body each day.

Lovely big brown mare!!

Collection of her photos from the xc paddock outing - which is 10meters from our stables sorry.
But the positive is she was a treat, really wowwy to jump and the paddock is a good 8 hectares in size showing she is happy to work relaxed, loose reined and safely in the open space environment.

Yup 👍 videos are next to slide into her album as long as I don’t fall asleep with the phone in my hand like last night 😂

She has settled in here really well and I’m sure she will turn her hoof to anything - Jumping she has scope, is careful and willing.

Could be telling us she wants to eat up some xc tracks???

Man we have smashed out some albums and updates but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Been lucky enough to wave goodbye to Burt to a wonderful client who knew him at his racing stable. But before he walked away it was important to make sure we had flicked him through his paces, floated him and he had reached OUR minimum requirements before being stamped as rehomed.

Burt had some paddock spelling time with us which meant I was lucky to get to know him over a number of weeks. He was a true gentleman to handle and no vices or behavioural issues.

Charm has been ticking along also and missed an introduction post.

This 6yo Preferment Mare recently landed her spot with us after finishing with her trainer. Noted she did nothing impressive during her two Raceday starts, both in 2024.

She does though get a big tick for being easy, sound and sane.
Her strengths or direction we are hoping can be located during her time with us.

She’s not a big girl, small in stature, dainty even but has been getting the thumbs up for behaviour, temperament and willingness.

With multiple requests for “Bling” I’m apologising for my lack of ability to provide but hoping someone will see what she lacks in colour in paint brush efforts or markings she brings in other attributes.

=WALTER=

Pretty dam chuffed where he’s at and proud of showcase him as one of our retraining team horses.

Plenty of “off the track” hours under his belt now and it’s starting to shine in his work efforts.

After racing he has had a holiday on some good grass tucker with good company which has benefited body and brain.

~< What we love about Walter >~
Quality type with smart paces and plenty of power.
Giving Holly and I both plenty of smiles in the saddle and small fights on who gets to ride.
He has that positive work ethic we see in these stunning OTTBs but with the bonus on an easy Sunday temperament which sometime takes longer to see coming through.

While jumping he has shown glimpses of strength. He is brave and a non spooky ride to the fence.
My wish is that he gets a great team behind him once he departs here.

Don’t get me wrong he’s not ready made and needs efforts put in to continue his development but he’s worth the work in my 📚 books.

Cleaning out the collection of WALTER photos on my phone.📱

It’s hard not to get attached to these wonderful TBs especially when they live outside my door. Walter has some really catchy cheek to him - Like hay thief!

He is always excited to see me at feed time but does not hold any dirt in his playful bounces - actually I think he’s just a people pony!

We are running the JS ship with just Holly and myself at this point which is working within the dairy farm also. Busy busy but doing what we 🫶.

And apologies Today is the a tick off the albums and media effort!

• SUSIE •

She’s my type of mare, straightforward to work with and honest in her ways. At the age of 7 she’s seen a few faces, done plenty of variety and ready to crack into a new role.

- Easy to keep clean.
- Shod today - new shoes great feet 👣
- Dental up to date.
- Loading solo and backing during her SL float training.

Ridden work:
Continuing to focus on her left rein strength, developing her jumping and giving her some new notches in her belt like farm rides and solo hacks then head off for an outing.

Look out for her flat work videos along with her recent hacking skills.

Introducing -Susie-

She’s a 7yo Mare sired by Nadeem out of a My Halo dam.
Standing at 16.1hh with a lovely temperament and outstanding ridden reviews from both trainer, owners along with our staff all commenting on how easygoing she was.

Susie recently decided after a promising racing career that the starting gates were not her friend but hasn’t put a foot out of place since her arrival early last week, she has been introduced to to farm life, log jumping and had no issues with floating which we found surprising.

Looking forward to continuing to work her through our retraining process. She is on the farrier list for early next week as she lost a shoe yesterday.

Also see her a wonderful baby Mumma if anyone is interested.

Walter

Working in the rain today.
The one day I could get out to video and it’s bucketing down.

Holly has done a fantastic job with him! Should be ready to have a jump for our followers early next week but for now let’s focus on the basics!

25/10/2024

Next week looks busy already!

“Bay Mare” being the Friday funday word.

All have just completed our arrival check in process and had veterinary dentals!

All 3 have good reports from trainers and owners!! Another yay!🙌

Two are shod and one is waiting on the farrier Tuesday!

Happy long weekend!

Daylight at 7pm 🕖 is magic!
And it’s been quiet on social media as I’ve spent some quality time with fambam.

Lucy (9) is the youngest family member who recently decided she would like to ride.

A conversation with another 9yo named Mya resulted in the arrival of Penny also 9!

The kids messager chats left all adults in fits of laughter 🤭 as she came with a very cute list of instructions!

I could send a screenshot of the “how to care for a horse” advice as these two have got it down packed and Penny has not put a foot out of line! - we did skip her gallop 🏇 day though shhhhh 🤫

The OTTBs have still been getting worked but just without a camera 📸 in the corner.

- Quinn -

She had a spin before her Veterinary dental and wellness check up.

We opted to remove her rather large wolf teeth and she will have 10-14days downtime before she can commence ridden work.
So you won’t see her pop up for a while, not to panic 🫨 she’s just getting 5 star ⭐️ treatment with some pain relief, good feed and grass and R & R!

She floated to the run off block solo and has been a lovely mare to handle.
Quinn will also be reshod when she returns to work and let’s hope she puts on a few kgs!

Quick snippets of - Monty -

I’ve been busy with my AB run 🏃‍♀️ so lucky to have amazing Dairy Farm staff who also do some super work with the Jump Start OTTB’s.

It’s such a cool balance between cows and horses here. 🐎 🐄

Introducing Monty to Jumping and he is trying super hard to do the right thing as with the majority of the TBs we see they just take on everything we ask.

Next step is an off farm outing and to continue his schooling. We need to feel comfortable rehoming him with a new set of skills and a good understanding of his mannerisms.
And we want to make sure we get the right fit for him in his new home as that’s our role as a retrainer right?

Jack has been ticking along…

Ground work fun yesterday.

During his time with us he has ticked all the right boxes it’s just a case of match making for him now.

Easy to have around and has had a spelling period prior to arrival so keen to continue his ridden education.
