It’s time for a holiday.

With our last retraining horses of 2024 now sorted we are excited to head off on a well deserved break.

A trip with the fam bam is first on my list and so lucky to have some amazing support who allows us to take this time out.

We wish you all a wonderful festive 🎄season and thank you for your support.

Just a reminder: No new bookings or incoming horses.

⭐️Tips⭐️ Preparing for a Jump Start OTTB✔️

• Please give them TIME and PATIENCE once they have arrived in the new home. This allows each horse to settle and become relaxed in the new environment.

• Remember Truck and Float trips often have resulted in Raceday outings or track time. We attempt to make sure each horse has a safe travel experience as part of our retraining process.

• Make the first -Date- count, set yourself up for success. Build the trust!

• Keep it SIMPLE and speak the same language! Maybe don’t think the show entry for the weekend they arrive is a good idea?

• Keep things SIMILAR, relating to feeding, gear, routine - even down to the girth type can make a difference. These horses have been through some huges changes since the last day at the track.

• Don’t be scared of “Down Time” some benefit from this! Assessing each horses requirements and situation.

• Do some research 🧐 Taking on an OTTB can be very REWARDING but please only take one on if you have best interests at heart with the ability to provide for the needs of one.

We try to make the new home transition as straightforward as possible and keep the communication lines open. Each new owner receives an outline of the experiences and care we have provided.

So much personality with this mare.
Loving the carrot treats with a great lip move to make sure she gets another.

As she has been spelling for sometime things have started off slower paced than the in work ottbs you see often on the page.

Bonus is her body and mind are well past her race days and she has some super attributes. Bella is going to tickle someone’s fancy for sure and we will make sure we get her up to speed before she gets the “ready to go” tick.✔️

Out and about on Susie.

She would be happy to walk into a pleasure riding home or competitive. Also would be a lovely broodmare.

Susie is a level headed mare that continues to learn the ropes outside of racing. Her flat work is still on the green side but with more schooling would develop.

We have spent this last 10 days taking things a little more casual and she has thrived.

Floating in a straight load she will need two people to load at this stage as liked encouragement and a leader. She travels well. We have spent hours training her to be confident floating.

Huge thanks to Sonya for caring for our OTTBs and doing these body work treatments. It always fascinates me how relaxed and content these horses become during her time with them.

Just a basic set up at Jump Start but works well. I dream of a purpose built barn - dreams are free right!

Has been spelling for 4ish months but was easy to bring into work.

She stands at 15.3hh and has a nice presence.

Sired by Burgundy we hope she can join the list of Jumpers we have seen with the same sire.

Currently barefoot but on the farrier list as we see her start her retraining. Or breeders this could be a fantastic broody option - I was even leaning that way.

All in a shade of brown!

We collected Quinn and her friend from the spelling block and both are looking fantastic.

Giving them a chance to pack on some pounds and have a deserving break.
Floating to and from, can’t fault them on temperament and manners.

Looking forward to seeing more work under saddle and back in the spotlight for rehoming.

Breeding or riding these girls will hopefully find that perfect match.

I’m terrible at losing videos on my phone - so here’s to me being productive today.

Flat ride done and dusted. Holly got a super tune 🎶 out of her, Susan was willing and keen to please.🙏

It was evident they have worked together before today’s ride but have no doubts with the next experienced rider to take the reins she will be as able and genuine.

Just to confuse us with names •Susan• pulled in our gate a few days back.

A 4yo Mare sired by Staphanos out of an O’Reilly Dam.

Standing approx 16hh and a familiar face to Holly who has ridden her at the track and at the stable before she was retired.

Will continue to flow through her retraining but given we have a previous partnership with her feel we also can stamp her as “known” in temperament and her work/life balance.

No vices, expressive trot, nice ride.
Just a lovely horse who catches the eye.

Look out for her videos and follow her journey into the sporthorse realm.

Having a xc play and being a perfect perfectly ready.

Miles are on the clock and with the dollar tag not attached so this is your chance to pick up a ride who has all the ticks.✔️

She will continue to get the full range of experiences and schooling here until she finds her home and rider.

Her new person would ideally have experience and be comfortable in the saddle but dont feel she needs to be produced. She is further along the being enjoyed road.
I like how she is ready to get on the float and be going places without the “training” period.

Few shots of his first xc attempts.

Very willing to pop anything he was faced at. Not a spooky or looky type, brave and honest who will keep on improving.

Happy to stand at the float and wait his turn.

Can see him in the hands of a confident rider having a fabulous time eventing and moving up the grades.
The type of horse you could have out shortly so if you are looking for a holiday project or something to get going reach out.

My floats for rehoming also if anyone is looking 😂

Ticking off those outings for Harley and Pinky. Can not fault these two. 🤩

*PINKY* Working in the arena earlier this week. Seems a sensible type with a cute way of going. She’s had a holiday and is enjoying all this attention and ridden routine work, definitely becoming more relaxed in her last few rides.
