Recently we were asked if we play with the hoses on a hot day with the dogs and here’s just some of the reasons why we don’t.

Did you know that playing with the hose can cause Aspiration pneumonia: Water from the hose can get into your dog's lungs and cause aspiration pneumonia, which is a serious condition. Symptoms include coughing, gagging, vomiting, trouble breathing, depression, loss of appetite, and a blue tint to the lips and gums.

Secondary drowning, also known as dry drowning, is a potentially fatal condition that can occur in dogs when they inhale water.
When a dog inhales (snaps at) water, it can build up in the lungs and make it difficult to breathe. This can happen even if the dog coughs up the water or it drains from their nose or mouth
Symptoms can develop hours or even days after the initial incident.

Water intoxication, which is caused by drinking too much water, to much water can dilute the electrolytes in your dog's blood, which can cause vomiting, lethargy, diarrhea, or more severe symptoms like seizures or coma.
