It’s been a while since you’ve heard from me because I’ve been so busy getting the outdoor area of our cattery ready.
There are still tools everywhere, some finishing details that need to be completed and a whole lot of tidying up to do, but I will be open for Matariki next month!

This week I’ve been busy finalising details inside our cattery, putting up shelves and tracks for our guests to explore and am excited to say that I’m close to being finished!
We have created a series of interconnected units that allow us flexible housing for our cats while they’re settling in.
Each cat gets their own unit consisting of up to four interconnected modules, depending on their individual needs.
Once they’re feeling ready their main door is opened and/or removed and they’re free to explore, indoors and out. This flexibility allows me to work with each cat individually, so that they feel safe and secure at all times in their new environment, which in turn gives them the confidence to explore and engage.
I just love seeing new arrivals settling in and feeling at home!
Once they’re ready, they will have a whole outdoor area to explore too, which we have just began work on - it’s sheltered and weather proof fortunately because it was pretty wet out there today!

We’ve still got a lot of work to do but it’s starting to feel like a Cattery 😊😊😎🐈🐈🐈
He’s a Maine c**n cross by the way and quite a bit larger than your average cat, so he makes everything look smaller than it really is!!!

Exciting news everyone; I am well underway to get our new cattery set up and ready here in the beautiful Bay of Plenty!!!
I spent a long time after our move to Papamoa in 2021 agonising over what I could possible do here, that would be even half as great as Hilltop cattery was, and came to the conclusion that nothing short of another cattery could possibly be as good!
So since last year we have been busy getting our very fancy new boutique cattery "Papamoa Beach Cats" up and running.
We have a long way to go yet but it is starting to shape up.
Lots of painting and finishing off to go inside and then I need to move onto the wonderful big sheltered outdoor area.
It will be another month or so before we can open the door to our first guests but we are getting there. Yay, I am excited!!!

That's it Folks, we are now closed!
Thank you so much to all my wonderful customers over the past few years - it was great to meet you all and your gorgeous fur babies. We are now busy packing our boxes in preparation for our big move!

Missing Cat:
Has anyone seen this big beautiful boy?
He has gone missing from his new home up Rangihau road, Whenuakite. He was rehomed to a fabulous farm up the far end of Rangihau road several weeks ago, but has unfortunately wandered off.
He is an independent kind of guy so he may just be out enjoying all the space and wilderness the Rangihau region has to offer, but we are concerned he may be trying to come home to us on Centennial drive - which would be a very long, scary and dangerous journey.
If anybody has seen him or has any information please let us know as we are worried about him :(

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have unfortunately not been able to find anyone interested in opening a new cattery here in Whitianga. This means that when I close at the end of October there will not be a cattery in town. I realise that this is quite a concern for all you cat owners out there and I'm really sorry that I haven't been able to find anyone.
I have published a list of alternatives in the wider region on my page for reference, the closest being Coromandel Cattery.
If there is anybody out there who loves cats and might be interested in a great business opportunity please get in touch with me - I am happy to talk and may even have some great materials available to get you started!

I can highly recommend www.kiwihousesitters.co.nz for anyone considering a house sitter.
This is a professionally run organisation with a huge number of fabulous pet sitters on their books. These people are experienced house sitters who have references and have been police checked.
**This needs a bit of planning ahead, as you need to place an advert on their website detailing the dates and location etc. of the sit, but is well worth the effort!

I would like to let all my wonderful customers know that Hilltop Cattery will be closing its doors at the end of October this year as we are off on new adventures.
I realise this will be quite a surprise and a concern to all of you who have entrusted your beautiful felines to our care over the past few years and I want to thank you for your support.
