Hey Beautiful Souls,

It’s that time of year again 🎆💔—when our furry companions may need alittle extra love and support.
This time of year can be very upsetting and traumatic for some animals but here are some tips to help you and your beloved pet get through this challenging time:

🐾 Pre-Dusk Potty Breaks: Let’s get them out before the sun sets!
🐾 Early Evening Inside: Keep them cozy and safe indoors as night falls.
🐾 Safe Spaces: Create a little sanctuary where they can retreat.
🐾 Soothing Sounds: Play some gentle animal music to ease their minds.
🐾 Clear the Hazards: Remove anything that could potentially stress them out, or hurt them.
🐾 Treats & Distractions: Keep them entertained with their favorite goodies!
🐾 Natural Remedies: Consider Rescue Remedy or Pet Remedy for extra support.
🐾 Microchip Check: Ensure their info is up-to-date for peace of mind.

Animals can literally smell stress (cortisol) that we give off so keeping calm and stress-free yourself will aid them as well.
Take deep breaths to regulate your own nervous system and stay calm.
Hold them if needed and just be with them if they get too anxious or overwhelmed.
Your presence will allow them to feel safe and supported and this should reduce the traumatic impact this leaves on them.

And as always if you have any problems or would like further guidance - please reach out - I am here to help any furbaby through difficult times like these.

TO ALL MY FELLOW VET NURSES!!!
Today we celebrate all the vet nurses out there.
Where ever you are today, what ever you are doing today, YOU ARE APPRECIATED!!!!!!

I say it often and I'll say it again - our jobs are tough, they aren't easy - but what we do matters!!!!

Keep nursing with heart because your patients appreciate you for being there, for helping them, for fighting for them!!!!
Your clients appreciate you caring for their furbabies, and doing your best for their furry friends.
And your colleagues appreciate your love and passion for this job, for what you bring to the team and for standing next to them as we all care for sick animals, welcome new ones into the world, save lives and continue keeping our animal world happy and healthy.

In our industry we do amazing things and sometimes we forget to take a moment and appreciate what we do and how incredible it is!!

I've encountered a few memorable moments of appreciation over the years and they have kept me going in times that have been abit tougher to get through but the one that keeps me striving to learn more and fuels my passion for nursing is:
Miss Luna 🐾✨️🐾
She has a massive recovery story and was my biggest nursing case for so many reasons - but she also stole my heart and her Mum was so very grateful 🙏

I do what I do, for them 🐾🩷🐾

Welcome to the PAW ENERGETICS family
BOOF 🐾😘🐾🦁

You are the most amazingly, crazy, energetic personality 💚

Anyone that knows me, knows that German Shepherds are one of 2 breeds I swore I'd never own for many different reasons.

But this guy has won my heart and his Dad has done the most amazing job raising him to be the sweetest, most loving goofball you will ever meet 🫶

The girls are slowly adjusting to their new home and new family member. Alot better than I thought they would, thank goodness 💚🐾💚

When introducing new dogs into a household I always remember the golden rule of 3-3-3

The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a dog into its new home and helping it to settle in.
It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings,
the next three weeks for training and bonding,
and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

Never rush the process and always take it at the dogs pace, this is a massive change in their world, remember to give them time and space to adjust

I look forward to sharing more of our Picton adventures with these 3 rascals 🐾🐾🐾

Hey Beautiful Souls,

Nail care is super important for our furbabies 🐾

I find this time of year harder for them as well due to the weather they usually don't walk as much as in the summer so don't get natural wear the same.

Also alot of our furbabies freak out at going to the vets to get this done, the anxiety and heightened levels of fear can be very upsetting for them.

So I usually do a day once a month dedicated to nail trims, where I will come to your place so they can enjoy the comfort of being in their own home.
Alot easier and less stressful for them.

CO REGULATION 💚 CURRENT VIBES 🐾✨️🐾

Our furbabies need safety and security just like humans do.
They need help sometimes to regulate their nervous system.
ESPECIALLY in scary, stressful or overwhelming situations.

We can do this by
💚 stopping and pausing 🤚
💚 holding them close
💚 breathing with them- take nice deep calm breaths
💚 talking to them calmly

Taking the time to become aware of what they are going through and what they might need is paramount when dealing with furbabies that are having a rough time.

Currently Lucy is having a hard time with the storm - she isn't a fan of loud noises, especially thunder. So she seeks me out when she is feeling overwhelmed or scared by it.
We are currently sitting on the floor, she is wrapped up in my jersey and dressing gown (small animals will sometimes prefer to be tightly wrapped it gives a sense of security)
I am breathing intentionally to allow her to pick up on my energy- therefore allowing her to calm down in my arms.
THIS IS CO REGULATION

and even though yes I have things to do, this is what she needs from me right now - everything else can wait !!

This time of year can be hard for our furry friends.
The cold, wet weather can mean they don't move or are unable to move as much

Our older furbabies can feel more pain in their muscles and joints with the colder weather

If you notice any of these signs then Massage could definitely help ease pain and increase movement and just help them feel so much better

🐾 Reluctance to walk far or exercise
🐾 Slower getting up and down
🐾 Stiffness or change in gait- the way they walk
🐾 Not quite themselves
🐾 Not happy to be touched or patted
🐾 Muscle/Skin twitches when touched
🐾 Generally being quieter than normal or seemingly sad/depressed or even grumpy/aggressive/irritable
