Meet our reserve judge Bronwyn Main.

"I am a senior NZCF sh judge and I live with 3 very spoilt burmese.

My first experience with cat shows was as a teenager when we owned a beautiful blue persian, and were (probably like many before us) encouraged by its breeder to enter a cat show. Since then I have been lucky enough to meet some great people and have had a lot of fun and enjoyment in a very interesting hobby that involves judging, competiting, working at a show, or contributing as a club member.

Along with working full time, my other hobbies include collecting art, fashion design, and am also involved with other community based organisations.

Cat shows to me are all about seeing great cats, learning more about cats, and meeting interesting people (public or exhibitors) all of whom have some wonderful experiences to share; and it is my absolute priviledge to be part of this."

Introducing one of another our NZ Judge, Christine Yeung who is going to judge Ring 4 on the show.
A little about Christine, "I have owned Burmese almost my entire life, and exhibited my seal Burmese as a child. While studying I owned two Burmese and not long after graduating from University and beginning work as a Veterinary Nurse I acquired a Russian Blue, which I exhibited and this led to our first Burmese breeding queen in 2003.

My husband Mushfik and I registered the Cairistona prefix that year, with our first litter of Burmese and Mandalay kittens being born in 2005.

We continue to breed Burmese and Mandalay, with our Mandalay under the prefix of Mỹ lệ. We have also bred the odd litter of Tonkinese and in 2023 we added Burmillas to our cattery, under the prefix of Platinacatz.

Over the years we have exhibited Burmese, Mandalay and Russian Blue to a high level enjoying many Best in Shows, Supreme Awards, National Awards, along with a Shorthair Supreme Award at the 2019 New Zealand Cat Fancy National Show.

I have a particular interest in genetics and safeguarding the wellbeing of all breeds which includes advocating the use of valuable tools such as health screening and genetic testing. These tools facilitate us to make informed decisions within our breeding programs. I also hold Low Stress Handling Silver Certification, with education around low stress handling of cats and running shows in a way to facilitate this being something very close to my heart.

In 2015 I qualified as a NZCF Shorthair Judge, gaining my Senior (international) status in 2018, and Supervisor status in 2021. In 2021 I qualified as a NZCF Longhair Judge, gaining my Senior All Breeds (international) status in 2024.

I’ve been involved since 2003 with Palmerston North cat Club at a number of levels from committee member to President, and almost as long with the Burmese Cat Club of NZ having also been involved at all levels with being the North Island region’s current Chairperson and a Life Member. In addition, I have previously held roles with NZCF for on their Breed Standards Advisory Council, as Privacy Officer and IT Advisor. I am presently the NZCF Breed Representative for the Burmese and Burmilla Breed Groups and I am a current NZCF Executive Council member (Portfolio Manager for Information Technology).

In my professional life, I am a Business Analyst working in the area of People and Culture.

I very much look forward to seeing your beautiful cats on the show bench!"

Introducing our New Zealand judge, David Scadden who is going to be our Ring 3 judge. 👍🇳🇿👨‍⚖️
A lot of you may already know David, but for the ones are new to the show. A little bit about David," My wife Jacqui & I have been retired from the breeding game after breeding Birmans under the Magwai prefix since 1985.
We both originate in the Wairarapa in the sunny South Eastern part of the North Island of New Zealand.

We moved to Rotorua, in the Bay of Plenty in 2008. One of the major tourist destinations in the country, the scenery is striking and we are very central to other cities and beautiful destinations.

Our other great love are our Bengals, which we originally imported into the country in 1996 and bred successfully under the LapLepid prefix.

We have three children who have now left home and one grandson born in 2016.
We have a number of desexed Birmans and Bengals to keep us pretty busy. Other interests include good wine, genealogy, music and collecting and restoring Ford Capri's.

I started judging in 1992 and reached the status of All Breeds in 2005, learning a great deal about all aspects of felines along the way.

I really enjoy judging and try to talk to and educate the spectators as much as possible on the various breeds. I feel that a cat show has to be entertaining and informative. I enjoy meeting fellow cat fanciers from around NZ and other parts of the world.

I have had the privilege of judging all three National shows in Australia and New Zealand over the few years and would love to be able to judge felines in other countries in the world."

Meet the breed today! 😻😻Check out Ragdolls! They're big, fluffy cats with gorgeous colorpoint coats and blue eyes. Ann Baker developed them back in the 60s, and they're super chill and cuddly.

MEET THE BREEDS! 🐱 Today we are going to show you a large domesticated cat breed. One of the oldest natural breeds in North America, the Maine C**n. Known for their impressive size, tufted ears, bushy tails, and luxurious, semi-longhair coats, Maine C**n cats are easily recognizable. Also renowned for their friendly and sociable personalities, these cats are often called “gentle giants.” They are characterized by their intelligence, friendliness, playful temperament, and adaptability, making them well-suited for family life.
