♥️🐾♥️ Fig the coolest wee man had his second Puppy Groom today and was introduced to a bath and the dryer. As you can see he totally rocked it like a champ.
You may remember a while back me mentioning getting to know our ‘Hairy Dogs’..I thought I’d start with my currant partners in crime Nico aka Nicolai the Russian spy and Dolces aka The Shermanator. I wanted also to share with you the many beautiful K9 companions I have been blessed to share my life with. It all started at a young age bringing home stray dogs… come to think of it, some probably weren’t strays lol … To having our first family dog Foxy. From there my love for dogs grew and I have never been without a K9 friend by my side since. The unconditional love they give us is so heart warming, the comfort they give us in times we need it most is uplifting and the particles of love ( dog hair) they freely share, well that’s all part of spreading the love. To not ever be blessed to share your life with a dog would be to truely miss out on one of life’s precious gifts. ♥️🐾
Wee Tess had her ‘Big Girls Groom’ ♥️🐾♥️
Socialisation 🐾
Another thing I like to do when puppies come in for their grooms is take the opportunity to socialise them with my Nico ( yes the very grubby groomers dog 😂) Nico is such a calm wee fella and great with young dogs.
Socialise, socialise socialise as much as you can while young.
Puppies go through different development stages the most important is the socialisation stage which is 3-12 weeks, Socialise them as much as you can in a safe controlled environment not only with other dogs but people as well and all types of animals they may encounter so they develop the skills to be calm happy dogs 😃
♥️ Puppy Tess 2nd groom
Love seeing puppies grow in confidence when time is taken to introduce them to grooming slowly and they are are not expected to tolerate a full on grooming session for their first or second groom..Sometimes it may even take longer for them to gain confidence to have their ‘big’ groom. Like I have said so often it’s not about how neat and tidy and perfect their first couple of grooms are, or about a breed standard groom while they are young, it’s ALL about puppy and growing their confidence.
This is wee Tess’s 2nd groom in 3 weeks, no bath yet, and yes she may very well be able to cope with a bath, but to introduce the noise and blowing of the dryer can be too overwhelming, This is why I usually wait for their 3rd groom before introducing this, doing this I find by their 3rd groom they have more confidence to cope with the introduction of something new.
Tess have gone from being a very wriggly puppy unsure of what was happening to being very calm on the table, which is the ideal outcome.
Tess you so deserve your kisses sweetheart 🥰

Matted Coats
🐾😊🐾 With the days getting cooler and Winter approaching, I would like to talk about the importance of keeping your dogs coat maintained through Winter.
I hear some owners say “because it’s winter I won’t get another groom until the Spring...
A couple of thoughts to bear in mind....
* Does my dogs coat get knotty quickly....knots can quickly turn into felted matts which are very constricting
*Do I regularly brush my dog (properly).....not just top layer of coat
*Does my dog’s pads get very hairy.....wads of hair can form causing discomfort
*Does the inside of my dogs ears get very hairy...wads of hair can form in the ears
*Does my dogs sanitary areas become hairy, dirty.... dirty caked hair can form over genitals making it difficult to urinate and become Unhygienic
* Is my dog an inside dog
*Can my dog take off their long fluffy coat when inside by fire
*Can my dog see through a huge head coat....Is eye gunge forming
*Do I put jackets on my dog.....friction areas can cause matting
*Is my dog comfortable
To keep your dog comfortable through Winter and to avoid the dreaded ‘Shave off’ in Spring, regular grooms and Maintenance grooms are advisable
