Cleo has crossed the rainbow bridge to be with the other special friends that I have had to farewell over the years.
Cleo’s family contacted me a few years ago to help work with her as she was starting to slow down and was having difficulty moving as well as she used to. Although she enjoyed my visits, it took a while for her understand that my touch was going to help her. She was touch averse, especially along her back and hind limbs, so we slowly and gently worked to gain her trust and build a relationship that would demonstrate to her that therapeutic massage was an enjoyable experience that would benefit her and improve her quality of life. Her family were incredibly supportive of the process and knew that the foundational work was equally as important to her health as the actual hands-on aspect. I shared some of the massage techniques used with the family so they too could work with her in between our regular sessions (Cleo was a fantastic example of a team approach being instrumental to long term success). She improved so much with the bodywork sessions, moving more freely and comfortably, loving her life and continuing to participate in the activities that gave her joy (her favourite being running the length of her beach to find the person with the best treats!). Her improvements were so noticeable that people around her commented on the fact that she appeared to be aging backwards!
Unfortunately, Cleo had a medical emergency that was both unexpected and sudden, meaning her family had to make the incredibly difficult decision to let her go. Cleo was such an amazing being, it was an absolute delight to see her each week. Not only did she enrich my life and make my Sunday mornings so special, but she also taught me more about patience and persistence, pushed me to think creatively about her treatment plan, and made me smile every time I saw her. She was more than just my client, she made my world a better place. My heart goes out to her family and I am filled with gratitude for having met her. It was a privilege and an honour to be beside Cleo and her family as she was farewelled with grace and dignity. Princess Cleo had the best life and I will honestly miss her! I hold close the memories of her exited bum wiggle, her expectant face waiting for me to come down the driveway, her barking at me demanding more treats, and her beautiful soulful gaze. She was the ruler of her empire and leaves with a Cleo sized hole in the hearts of all those that knew her and loved her ❤️

This beautiful girl is Kazzi 😍 She has joined us to work on her physical wellbeing after her family noticed she was trembling in the hindlimbs, was offloading after having a toe amputation, and was struggling to jump up and down off her favourite perch on the couch!
After a thorough veterinary checkup and diagnostics, she is now having regular therapeutic massages to promote her musculoskeletal health.
Welcome to the FurTherapy family Kazzi!
