FARRIER FRIDAY 🔨 | In this month's segment we chat to Beau Moore from Moore Farrier Services, a local farrier with a large customer base Auckland-wide who has been in the trade 16 years!

Q: What lead you to becoming a farrier?
👉 My father was a farrier, I loved working with horses and I wanted to leave school so I needed a trade.

Q: Favourite thing about your work?
👉 Shoeing a variety of horses and seeing them perform at their best.

Q: What is your favourite tool, shoe or nail you use?
👉 Half round nippers and my left and right hand knives

Q: What type of horses do you work with most?
👉 Performance horses – sport and race horses.

Q: What is the busiest time of year for you?
👉 October to April

Q: Proudest work or achievement in your job?
👉 Shoeing horses that have won group races, keeping a horse sound barefoot who went on to win Kihikihi three day event, actually getting around to shoe my own horses is an achievement for the season as well 😂

Q: What do you do outside of your work?
👉 I play elite level polocrosse which has enabled me to travel the world, enjoy playing polo as well, love to pig hunt with my 3 sons, spending time with my family Nadine (wife), Maxwell, Hilton, Lachlan (sons) and baby Moore due in October!

To our valued clients,

We have some big news! Moore Farrier Services is relocating to Tamworth NSW and it has come far quicker than we expected.

We did plan on leaving at the end of the year but we found a 100 acre property for our family close to town . These places don’t come up often and with all our horses etc we had to grab it. So we will be leaving at the end of June. June 30th will be our last day at work.

This will be a shock for some and certainly is a bit of a shock to our system but it’s the best thing for our family and our new arrival in Oct.

Since last week, when we made the decision, we have been putting out the feelers to other farriers who would be available to take on new clients.

We will working as hard as we can for everyone up until the 30th of June.

It’s a tough decision to leave such an amazing business with some of the most supportive clients. You have stuck with us through crazy covid, our family growing and Xmas backlogs. You have taught us a lot about our business and helped us to grow as well.

Merry Xmas and happy new year. We are back from our break in Australia and had an awesome time with family.

This year has already brought us some exciting news, we have a new member joining our team on the 9th of Jan. Trent McCrae is a qualified farrier from Australia. He has been in the industry for 10 years and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in sport horses, race stables, pleasure hacks and remedial and veterinary cases.

Tawa is no longer a part of our team and we wish him the best of luck.

Trent will be working alongside Beau over the coming weeks and is looking forward to meeting everyone.

Trent and his partner Sarah have a great passion for horses, as they competitively ride in show jumping, dressage and polocrosse. He prides himself on his craftsmanship and understands the level of care and attention required to keep horses feet in great shape ready for your chosen discipline.

We have a large number of messages and we will be working through them over the next couple of days. So you will hear from us soon.

Hey guys we are still away until next Monday in oz. if you Send us a msg we have it but have been out of service for the last few days living off the grid. Please don’t think we have forgot you or not replying. We are heading to Nadine’s Polox test match against Australia tomorrow and fly back to New Zealand Monday.
