FARRIER FRIDAY π¨ | In this month's segment we chat to Beau Moore from Moore Farrier Services, a local farrier with a large customer base Auckland-wide who has been in the trade 16 years!
Q: What lead you to becoming a farrier?
π My father was a farrier, I loved working with horses and I wanted to leave school so I needed a trade.
Q: Favourite thing about your work?
π Shoeing a variety of horses and seeing them perform at their best.
Q: What is your favourite tool, shoe or nail you use?
π Half round nippers and my left and right hand knives
Q: What type of horses do you work with most?
π Performance horses β sport and race horses.
Q: What is the busiest time of year for you?
π October to April
Q: Proudest work or achievement in your job?
π Shoeing horses that have won group races, keeping a horse sound barefoot who went on to win Kihikihi three day event, actually getting around to shoe my own horses is an achievement for the season as well π
Q: What do you do outside of your work?
π I play elite level polocrosse which has enabled me to travel the world, enjoy playing polo as well, love to pig hunt with my 3 sons, spending time with my family Nadine (wife), Maxwell, Hilton, Lachlan (sons) and baby Moore due in October!
