RETURN MESSAGE (War Decree x Word Savvy) at her second start winning yesterday at Wangauni. Making her dam "Word Savvy" 2 from 2 currently. With "Judy's Great" racing at Sha Tin on Sunday race 6.

What a good story this has been so far. Being able to get back into our old Message family has been amazing. Word Savvy has been so good to us with her sale results and now her offspring's are doing the job on the track. Return Message - bringing back the "Message" name and wearing Poppa's colours was very special to us. Dad and Melanie have done such a great job with Return Message - she's a result of there hard work!

Woohoo! Tonight we bought this beautiful 2yo filly by War Decree out of our mare Word Savvy. Last March we bought Word Savvy with a War Decree c**t at foot from the Valachi Downs Unreserved Reduction Sale 2021 for $28,000. Sadly we lost a Time Test c**t when foaling down. The foal at foot was sold this year at the Karaka Yearling sales book two for $150,000 to Regal Farm / Legend Bloodstock / Upper Bloodstock. Word Savvy is currently in foal to Circus Maximus and booked to see Tivaci this season coming.

We are so happy to buy this filly tonight. She is from the family of Miss Morrinsville. Dad (Stephen) trained her as a young lad in his early 20s before on selling Miss Morrinsville to Poppa (John). Poppa bred and trained dual Group One winner The Message from her. Poppa famously named all the offspring "something" Message. Now securing this filly was important to us with keeping the family alive as we 100% believe we will bred another high class horse. We will fix her up and give her a go with Dad.

JUDY'S GREAT (War Decree x Word Savvy) at his second start winning tonight at Sha Tin, Hong Kong - Class 4 1200m. Perfect ride by James McDonald.

Judy's Great aka Johnny was sold by Ralph Thoroughbreds at New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka book two in 2022 for $150,000 to Regal Farm / Legend Bloodstock / Upper Bloodstock. After winning his debut trial at Taupo in March for Shane Crawford and Kara Waters. He was sold as a PPG horse to Danny Shum (the trainer of this years Cox Plate winner Romantic Warrior) He is still only a 3yo - very exciting future ahead!

It's been a busy breeding season at Ralph Thoroughbreds. On Thursday, we had our 18th and last foaling. Thank you to all of our owners for entrusting us with your horses.

On Friday, we had our final positive 15 day scan for farm favourite Monarch. This gave us a 100% fertility for the season. A huge result for the farm, getting all 13 in foal.

We are in full yearling preparation swing now. With 8 yearlings heading to Karaka and 3 more yearlings going to Melbourne early March.

It's been a successful past month. Ralph Thoroughbreds in partnership with Ed Stapleton Bloodstock formed a pinhooking syndicate for the 2023 yearling sales season. We set out to hopefully buy 3-5 weanlings over the Sydney, Melbourne and Karaka sales. Through a lot of hard work we ended up with 4 lovely horses. All of them by Australian based stallions. I would like to thank Ed, I really enjoyed our time working together. I can't wait until we start our yearling preparations!

Day 1 - I get an email from the team at Haunui. It reads: "Vitesse Rose colt 9/10/17 - a medium sized strong bodied colt who is slightly contracted in both front knees and stands with his hocks out slightly behind. The colt has a good head and has good natural muscle and bone development. Both mare and foal have come through the foaling well and bonded nicely" Always lovely get an informative email and so quickly. As you see on the video he is down on his pastern on the near hind also in at the knees a bit. Overall I am very happy because I know in a couple of days he will get stronger with time and I won't remember he ever had it. The experts of the Haunui breeding team will keep a close eye on his progress. As we go on you'll see his progress and how much he grows!
