Important updates for Bark Lane 🐶

A heartfelt thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding while we had to temporarily close due to injuring my back lifting a large dog. We are now back in action but have a couple of important updates:

1. We will now only be grooming small-medium dogs up to 15kgs. (If dogs are within this weight range but display difficult behaviour that could aggravate my back then I may also not be able to groom them).

2. There is some availability for deshed grooming with Isabella e.g. retrievers, collies, labs (not requiring full hair cuts). It is not possible to book these appointments online so please message us directly to book.

3. We are not accepting any new customers at this time as we are at capacity and want to be able to offer the best service to our exisiting clientele. It’s a really good idea to get your bookings made in advance as the schedule does fill quickly.

Thank you again to this awesome community for your ongoing support of Bark Lane, and it is a very sad goodbye (for now) to our much loved larger doggos 🩷

Had a fantastic time at The Bi***es' Box comedy show at Kinross Winery on Saturday night, with some fellow Bark Laners. This duo are hilariously in character of dogs for the duration of the show, and it is the funniest comedy act I think I have ever seen!

As people who get dogs, if you ever have an opportunity to see them, I couldn’t recommend it more 😂

Meet the newest member of our family, Maggie May 💖

Maggie had her first little wash and dry experience yesterday at 9 weeks old - we are going to aim to do this once a week for the next couple of months as we want her to love being groomed!

Isn’t she just the cutest little thing in the world 💞

Introducing Beth ☀️

Beth is a ray of sunshine and has the most gentle, kind nature when working with our Bark Lane dogs.

Fun fact about Beth - she is actually a trained veterinary nurse and once when working at the zoo got attacked by a cheetah 🐆!!

Beth found it sad working with sick animals so has now redirected her passion for animals to work with dogs that are happy and living their best lives 🕺🐶

We are feeling very heartbroken at Bark Lane today. Just yesterday we had this little munchkin in for a groom, and today he has passed away in a terrible accident.

Every time we lose one of our Bark Lane dogs, our hearts ache. We know how very loved they all are and how much they will be missed.

Thinking of all of your doggie angels today 👼 and sending love to every one with a little hole in their hearts 💔

Every day we get to spend with our beloved fur babies is a gift 💕 so give your little one an extra cuddle and kiss today x

This week we are celebrating two years since opening the doors to Bark Lane. I just want to say WOW and express my overwhelming gratitude. You never really know when beginning something like this how it’s going to go, but the support we have received from the Arrowtown and wider Queenstown Lakes community has been pretty damn remarkable.

We have grown from zero customers, to 375 awesome customers! Thank you to each and every one of you for your continuing support and for trusting in us to look after your fur babies. It really is a pleasure to get to know you and your dogs (well most of time haha…when we are not being bitten, scratched, peed or pooped on 😂)!

I feel so lucky to have a team of hard-working, fun, bad-ass women to work alongside. A good business starts with good people, and our team is pretty great! Sam completed her dog grooming training earlier this year and is doing an absolutely epic job grooming.

I’ve also got to give out a shout out to Bark Lane’s biggest cheerleaders of all, Mum & Dad - thank you for believing in me and allowing me to turn your garage into a dog grooming studio!

I am feeling very proud of what we have built so far, I truly love our Bark Lane community, I fall more in love with dogs every day and I am so excited for what’s next for Bark Lane!

Looking for Dog Blood Donors

We occasionally have emergencies where we need to perform a blood transfusion, which requires donated blood. Previously, this need has been met by staff dogs, but with an aging population of staff dogs and an increased case-load meaning we more frequently need to perform blood transfusions, we are reaching out to you all to help us.

If you are interested in being on a list of Superhero dogs who would be able to donate in a time of need please let us know.

Dogs need to meet the following criteria to make it safe for the donor and recipient:

- Minimum weight of 28kgs, lean and healthy
- Between the age of 2 and 6 years
- Not travelled overseas
- Not had puppies
- Not on daily/regular medication
- Ideally not overly stressed in clinic (as will need IV placed for sedation for sample collection)
