We are a greyhound rehoming kennel for retired racers. We prepare these beautiful greys for the agencies to take for adoption.

We work in with 4 rehoming agencies, Greyhounds as pets, KiwiKiwi hounds, May hounds and Nightrave greyhounds.

Harper and sassy attended west eyreton school agriculture day and entered into the fancy dress Pet segment.....and the girls came in first place! 🥇🏆 Not only was sassy amazing with everything going on but she was a great advocate for the breed we all love. Maybe we will see more greyhounds these ways! 🙏🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Rainbow girl, started her adventure with Greyhounds As Pets NZ 💕 eeeeek. 🌈 is a pocket rocket extroverted girl with a hint of sass. We like strong minded women 💪 Rainbow expresses her happiness through lots of spins, cuddles and kisses. She can be a major goof ball when she wants to be and is very much into play - I mean she is only a young chicken just gone 2! Rainbow loves children but we would prefer 8 years and older as she can forget her size in cuddle mode/ play mode 😆

Oaty and Mates enjoying their time with Steve from Tevra Dog Training 2022 while he completes his safer assessments 🥹 Let us tell you a little about these 2 amazing lads;
- Otis💙 - affectationately known as Oaty will love on you with every Fibre of his being. He is a major cuddler 🫂 He will hold onto you for dear life, nibble your face and look at you with those precious eyes always. Oaty unfortunately has very tender feet due to chronic corn issues, he has received all medical help possible with Shirley Vet Clinic by having a Flexor tenotomy to prevent anymore arising. So far so good! He will just need to be on restricted exercise and will need to go into his home with booties! (He wears these when we go road walking as hard surfaces can cause tenderness) He can still live a normal life, do day to day things and be a typical dog. You should check him out when he plays! He's the tug of war king 🫅
- Mates💛 - "ME MATES" Oh this boy... where do we begin. Our gentle giant spookie boy who gives you his whole heart when he trusts you. Once you break down these walls of mates he does a complete 360. From a spookie to a big love bug who is constantly smiling, stealing toys, egging you onto play and trying his hardest to give you kisses every chance he gets. He is amazing with children, the lost amazing gentle approach and nibbles he will give ❤️ Mates has an issue with being introduced to new places, he will freeze and try go back to his safe spot typically (especially busy environments) - what we have found is when mates has a trust with a handler he is willing to work in with you and what you need him to do. It's about understanding who he is and what needs and he needs that reassurance that he is gonna be okay! Exposure will be key with mates. Mates would be after a quiet home, a play area as he is so toy driven, currently one of our "play pen thiefs" and man he can play! Our cheeks always hurt from smiling so much at him and preferably another dog to help guide him along the ways of pet life. Honestly we would keep him if we could. Hate the fact we got a cat for this exact reason😅🤣 ps still love u echo.

Beautiful mo with the famous Mohawk was adopted today 🫶🏼 His smiles speak a thousand words, he was so happy to see his family again after a successful meet and greet ❤️ Mo was the most easy-going lad ever, the softest cuddles and the warmest eyes that smile at you. If you want a hound like mo reach out to the team 👋 it will be the most rewarding thing you've done this year 😆✅️ Thank you to Greyhounds As Pets NZ for working in with us and the beautiful mo and finding his family x

Update photos of the GUMMY BEAR 🐻 🐻‍❄ 💕 Doesn't she look beautiful!!!! She was so strong throughout these surgeries we are so PROUD.
Katie is leaving us this afternoon to finish of her recovery in foster care with Janice May Hounds Charitable Trust - Greyhound Rehoming Group 💕 This has been in the works for a long time getting Katie girl to this point to be able to leave medically cleared. We feel incredibly sad but incredibly happy for her that she finally gets her shot. And we know she's gonna ace it 😝look out for Katie girl on the mayhounds website in coming weeks! ✅️✅️✅️✅️✅️

Miss katie arrived home yesterday but she has come back a little different....Gummy bear - also known as a greyhound with no teeth 😁🥹😱
Katie made it through surgery with flying colors. She has officially entered the gummy bear club and to tell you the truth she's rather happy about it after battling a terrible disease called CUPS. Massive thank you to Shirley Vet Clinic and Rangiora Vet Centre - Pets for helping Katie get to where she needed to enter foster home! Your time, love, care and effort has not gone unnoticed by us here and especially Katie. She loves vet trips all thanks to your beautiful handling and care. Newbie alert! 👋👋👋👋 Zorro 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
Forever smiling and forever gentle at heart with a touch of spazz BUT just the right amount... so the perfect concoction if you ask me 😇 zorro assessed beautifully today with the small and large breeds and really showed us he is ready for adoption! He is so friendly and such a social butterfly! 🦋 He would thrive at group walks or be an event savvy greyhound who would be amazing advocate for the breed! This blue brindle beauty is everything anyone could ask for 💙 Zorro will meet the cat this week and all going to plan will be avaliable on the website 😀 Keep your eyes peeled 🫣

Olive 🫒 She's happy to be here and the feeling is mutual!! Ooooooh her cuteness is to die for 😱😫🥰 From the short time we've known her we are addicted to:
● Watching that spring in her step (the cutest little trot everrrrrrrrr).
● That playful affection.
● Her million dollar smiles.
● Looking into her captivating eyes that speak louder than words.
Olive will be completing her assessments next week so she will be avaliable for adoption then BUT we can already tell she's gonna be a star 🌟.
Next to introduce will be Glitch, Mo, Janelle, Domina, Zorro and Bonnie 💕 lots of fresh faces for the spring 🌸🌸🌸

Today we said goodbye to some rather special girls at rangiora. Moana and jade 💛🖤
These girls have an exciting journey ahead of them and will become American residents in a short while! These 2 girls leaving us broke alot of hearts, we could hear them miles away 💔
They both definitely had a fan club between the racing and rehoming families 👪
- Dear momo and jadey pie, thank you for your unconditional love and for ALWAYS making our days brighter. You 2 girls 👭 will be the light of somebody's life like you were ours 🫶🏼 We will miss your captivating eyes and kangaroo jumps jade! And Moana our queen we will miss your sass and how strong minded you are 🤩 We love you both a million and are so grateful we got to spend this time together ❤️ We will see you soon via face time!!!

Sugar bo**er came for a visit! She was telling me all about her foster home experience and how she loves it! all while she had a mouthful of sausage 🤭🤔😆 sugar is doing everything right in foster and will be avaliable very soon through the lovely ladies of KiwiKiwi Hounds Adoption 🫶🏼 Sugar can live with dog breeds medium to large as small fluffies just ain't it 🙅‍♀️
She loves children👨‍👩‍👧‍👦❤️ and she is a major love bug who doesn't want alot of exercise unless it's code word for cuddles. Thank you jo and Janice for bringing her for a visit 🫶🏼

This was one of our hardest goodbyes yet!
Our sugar bo**er who is very well known in the greyhound community you'd almost say "famous" 😉 has left for her next step in rehoming! Foster with our fabulous ladies of KiwiKiwi Hounds Adoption ✌️ Karen, kevin and jo have a special connection to sugar, from knowing her as a race dog to now a retired athlete! Anyone that knows sugar knows she is a sun soaking stubborn bo**er that blows out looking at food 😆 but has an enormous heart to share around ❤️ especially if your a male... well then... you're now claimed by sugar. She's been with us for well over a year so has become very much part of the furniture around here and it feels so wrong to look at her empty kennel! Big thanks to Tevra Dog Training 2022 for working in with sugar, she loves you guys!

Our spookiest girl ever tweet got her happy ending 💖 Tweetie pie is considered a spook, anything new/any new person will turn her whole world upside down and we were so worried on finding her perfect match buuuuut slow and steady wins the race with little miss 🧡Little did we know her perfect match was right infront of our eyes but she knew... She picked one of our lead kennel hands Ross. Her whole world 🌎 revolved around ross and when he wasn't here she knew and was such a NEGATIVE NANCY 🤬. We call him the spookie whisperer because he has a way with them always, knows what they need and how to approach situations for them. He has helped a handful of spooks enter their homes in the last year! Tweet and ross were a match made in heaven and we are so happy the stars aligned. The updates we have received recently is " All she wants to do is sleep on my bed and my clothes" 😆 the typical greyhound mentality.
It's also a "happy gotcha day" to ross 🤣 1 year with the Great mates team 🙌🥂🥳🎉🎊

Exposure work is so important to these rehoming greyhounds and we are so thankful we have access to lagottos through Desiree from Nightrave. We cannot wait for Nellie the lagotto to join the resident hounds of great mates rangiora 💕

If you remember we said goodbye to sweet Bella a few weeks back! She has blossomed in foster care with Carlos and Tania 🩷 fostering is such a rewarding experience, we recommend it highly. Thank you guys for these pictures, it has made our day 🤗

Massive shout out to one of our longest stayers at Greatmates rangiora with multiple nicknames - Brooklyn, brookie monster, bb, and little tyke who has passed all her assessments! She has blossomed and really has grown up as of lately and today showed us exactly that. WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU BROOKIE MONSTER 💖💖 next step for her is to be allocated to a rehoming agency 🙉
