Tevra Dog Training began private training in 1996 under the direction of Janice Kirk. Quality education is the key to safe and enjoyable dog ownership. Tevra Dog Training works to foster the talents of individuals and their dogs, and guide each person toward their goal in achieving a special bond with their dog whether it is purely for companionship or to extend themselves to competition work.

Cash update- yesterday we took a p*e sample to get tested at Marshall & Pringle vets and great news by changing a couple of things from his diet and making sure he gets more fluids his PH level was back to normal 😃 which will help stop more stones forming. Once we get the results of the tests on the stones (they've been sent to Minnesota) we can sort a more long term plan. Today was a nice long walk in the forest which he loved !

This afternoon I had Lockie a Miniature Long Haired Dachshund and his Mum in. Lockie isn't the most confident fella and purely by accident (me being lazy and not putting things away) we found he was quite scared of the stroller, but by the end of the session even after the food was gone he was just curious and happy to go over and investigate, a huge change from 45 minutes earlier when he wouldn't go get a treat from within half a metre of it!

I had 14mth Mack in with his Dad for a session on Sunday. Mack is an American Akita, a big boy and still growing!

Ten year old Bruce is a Aussie Shepherd x Border Collie who's Mum is training to become a teacher and interested in achieving the Canine Educators Certificate, so they came out today for a session to see what is involved. A real cruisy boy but still full of life☺️

A real foggy start to the day and it didn't warm up a great deal either! So we had the handlers doing lots of running on the spot, star jumps, crouches etc in front of their dogs in the stays and jogging on lead, As Cash isn't allowed to jump at the moment he was put in the middle of the van with the seats up but the cheeky boy decided it was a better view from the front!

Cash update- He's recovering well, bit hard for the boy to not be doing a lot and staying calm around his favorite people! He may need to be on a special diet to stop the bladder stones reoccurring. Otherwise he's still his crazy self. Photo doesn't show the wound as some of it is in a private spot.

Poor old Cash had trips to the vets Sunday and yesterday and ended up having to have an op on his bladder. The staff at Marshall and Pringle Kaiapoi were on the case straight away as usual though, doing an amazing job, and by all accounts Cash was a great patient. Really like the personal touch on his meds bag he came home with!

More than a chilly start this morning for classes, -2 when I first arrived but thanks to a bright blue sky and that orange thing in the sky we got up to 10! Didn't stop anyone from having some fun though with Jenny bringing some new distractions to stays with all of the handlers doing a few exercises and moves in front of their very puzzled dogs! We also had a couple of junior handlers taking charge of the parents dogs for a while.

Yesterday we had 5mth old Maltese/Shih Tzu/Schnauzer Polly and her human Mum in for a session. Her Mum has had lots of different breeds of dogs over the years but just wanted to freshen up her skills

One of clients sent me these pics last night of their 17wk old puppy Aiofe (pronounced Eefa). This was Aiofe's first day in class and she was absolutely mentally exhausted afterwards as the pictures show.

A nice mild winters day for our Sefton classes yesterday. These handlers and their dogs had fun learning to go to all sorts of different objects by pointing at the object and using the one command

With Anne away crook today we had Jenny stepping in to help with our classes. Another fresh start to the day but great to be back after the weather cancelled classes last weekend. Hope you're feeling better soon Anne.

I had 3yr old Bichon x Schnauzer Minnie in with her humans this evening to help out with her impulse control and excitability. As you can see her tail doesn't stop moving so it was a blur in every picture I took! Lol

After a couple of walking jobs, it was home for a session with 1yr old Golden Retriever Casper who is getting a bit strong for his Mum on the lead and not always listening with his recall. Then I had 21wk Jack Russell cross Buster in with his Mum.

Nice to have the sun back yesterday for some training at Sefton (even if the breeze was a bit fresh!) We also had a new Basics class start with a great variety of breeds and ages, but I was a bit busy to get some pics so watch this space next week!

This afternoon I had 16 week old Labrador Bunny and all of his family in for a session. A confident young fella and a great family.

Had this 4.5yo dude in last night for some training. Boss is a American Staffy x Shar Pei and has only been with his new family for a few weeks and although he's settled in well they wanted some help and advice with a couple of small issues.

Had this wee girl Willow a 6.5 month old Border Collie in with her human parents for a session yesterday. They had a variety of dogs over the years but just thought they'd come in for a bit of a refresher and for some new tools in raising Willow

Unfortunately the weather meant classes were cancelled this morning, but had a session with this sweet girl Rayne a 1 year old GSD this afternoon.

After a busy few hours of classes it was off home to meet 15 month American Staffy Blue and her Mum. Blue was a little shy at first but eventually started warming to me and made some great progress with her recall.

Lynley and Rosie took home the trophy and a new toy for the best tricks on a box in todays Basics class. It was a very hard decision to make with young Mack coming a close second. Well done to everyone.

Winning the best skit on the night at the national dog training assembly

These are the results that do give you a boost as a trainer. Jenny with Andy, Natalia with Brie, Lynn with Penny, Jill with Lily and Sarah with Roxy displaying their controlled walk as part of their Companion Certificate this morning. I was really proud of them all.
