K9 Cadets

K9 Cadets Dog exercise and training experts. Specialising in behavioural work offering training / daycare / ho K9 Cadets is unique in the industry.
(30)

We are first and foremost a training facility where all staff are dog trainers with clear understanding of dog body language / communication and how a pack (including us) work as one. Our visiting dogs have a balanced day. Basic manners to more advanced training sessions are practiced throughout their stay (waiting at gates / not pulling on leads / confidence building / group down stays / spacial

boundary work etc.) and enjoy a controlled environment for free time where they can play freely knowing that any bully play, pushy or controlling inappropriate behaviour is not allowed. We understand that no dog is perfectly behaved and if your dog has issues (small or large) we will identify this. We won’t’ ban misbehaving dogs, nor will we let it intimidate, or be intimidated by the rest of the pack. What we will do is address the problem and strive to fix it. We will be open and honest about how your dog is doing and should any issues arise we will discus this with you and work out a suitable plan to resolve the issues (training fees may apply). Our aim is to give your dog plenty of exercise and fun, but also a day of learning. We will provide exercise, play, mental stimulation - confidence building, calming work, self-control sessions and more so your dog comes home physically and mentally tired. Like us, dogs continue to learn and grow each day of their lives so we do our best to make every day count with new life lessons and skill development. Enrolling your dog @ K9 Cadets
Assessment Day – compulsory for all new Cadets

Your dog will need to attend an introduction day before coming to us for day care or homestay. This is a one-off cost (please see the pricing list). We will have a chat with you at pick-up about how your dog went and recommendations for an on-going training plan if it is a behavioural case. On introduction day we start with a one-on-one lead training walk. This is a bonding time for us and your dog, where we get to know each other. We establish the role of leader, guider, protector and companion. This provides your dog with trust in us. Your dog will feel calm and secure when being introduced to the pack and ensures we will be listened to by your dog within the daycare / homestay environment. Your dog will also learn our on-lead follow command and will be able to join in our pack bonding lead walks and down stay sessions. Training day - compulsory for all new cadets. To get a placement in our Daycare and Development or Homestay services your dog will first need to gain some onsite skills and graduate from his / her training days. Standard training for this is 4 to 6 sessions - on a Wednesday or Thursday in a smaller training pack. Making introduction to big pack days or overnights fair and easy on your dog. We LOVE when our clients continue the training we do here, with your dogs at home. If you’re keen, we will help you follow through with this from the second you pull into our car park. We want you to be able to keep your dog calm and focused on you and us from opening your car door on drop off, to closing it at the end of the day. Great things happen when we become our dogs leaders. Our services include...

It's with a heavy heart we send all our love to Mugens family.
Mugen has been with us for a very long time after his family adopted them into their home with their other two dogs Mila the Doberman and Hadley the westie.
Now we just have our sweet Mila left after Mugen suffered a heart attack last night. We're all devastated to loose such a key member of our pack and so blessed he got to come and spend one day with us each week up to the ripe old age of 14 being our oldest standing Cadet.
Mugen you were a character from a naughty adolescence to an old wise man who gave us all the leaning cuddles he could get! We were lucky to help train and teach you some manners and find a happy space for you with your new family and you blessed us all with your georgeous nature how we love you so much big boy.
All our love and thoughts to your family at this very hard time.

Baby Orange born with a cleft lip. Second smallest in the litter. She struggled to gain weight while her siblings strived. She wouldn't take the bottle so we tube fed her every 3 hours. Tube feeding resulted in a mistake causing milk to get into her lungs (easily done even by those with experience apparently) she was rushed to emergency vet as she gasped for air and fought for her life. It was touch and go. We gave her 6 hours and she made small improvements. We gave her 12 hours and we sore some more small improvements. After 2 nights and 1 day at the emergency vet we transferred her to a day vet. Discussion was had about putting her down but she was fighting so we said no and made the decision to take over her critical care at home. The day vets got her on the bottle but we couldn't so we chose to do hourly feeds with two people to tube feed her safely. The next day she could breathe better and we found a bottle she would take. She grew stronger and stronger and a few days later you would have never known she was sick. Orange is a fighter and she has been supported by so many people and a community of dog lovers who got on board and donated to help cover her vet fees 🩷 She's super strong today, her eyes are open and today she looked at me. I'm glad we fought with her she's a key member of Aida's little puppy squad ❤️ we're now seeking homes for our 7 sweet pups. 4 little Rotti's and 3 little Aida's. Spread the word and email [email protected] if you're interested. They will be ready for their homes in 5 weeks time.

Everyone update @ bottom ❤️❤️❤️

We need your help ❤️
Baby Orange is fighting for her life!

About a month ago we took on a rescue dog from up north who was about to be shot by her owners. This is a sweet heart of a dog with no behavioural issues who would make someone so happy. She ended up being pregnant and was so far along we had no choice but to have the puppies.

We originally fundraised 2k for X-rays, desexing, food, vaccinations etc just for Aida (Muma). Aida has a bad back leg from being purposefully hit with a car some time ago. She has one if those heart breaking stories we hear too much about.

Unfortunately due to her age or having so many past litters we had to rush her to the vet when she went into labour as she was struggling to have them. To avoid a c section which was going to cost way to much, and cause her to be in recovery with a litter of potentially 12 puppies we opted for injections to help her push them out. 33 hours later we had 7 alive pups and 5 dead (dead on birthing). Alongside this we had a $2k vet bill just for the birthing process as it was over Easter weekend and we had to go to after hours.

One of the pups born has a hair lip but seemed to be sucking on mum well. Unfortunately with daily weighing she was loosing weight at a scary rate. We had no choice but to move to 3 hourly tube feeeing and finally she was gaining weight at a healthy speed ❤️ we have a team who are around the clock supporting mum and pups and the other night milk got into pups lungs and she almost died. We got all the milk out and rushed her to the vet.

She is currently at the emergency vet fighting for her life. She is slowly stabilising and improving but it's slow and it's exspencive. We are looking at 2k for her first 24 hours. Tomorrow we will transfer her to our regular vet for the day to save money and take her back for the overnight. We want to get her home as soon as possible, back with her muma and brothers and sisters but if we do it to early she could die.

We're asking for donations, it doesn't need to be much... every dollar counts. Please help us save our little Orange pup she has been fighting since she was born and she was winning and now she needs our help.

If your able to donate please donate into account

Update: Thursday 11th am - we got to bring our girl home last night. She was stable enough at the vets we could take her intensive care over at home. We spent the night feeding her hourly and she spent a lot of time crying and sleeping. We think she was just exaughsted.

She's happy to be back with her muma and brothers and sisters. We made her up her own little safe space in the welding box which is working well.
This am she is finally on a bottle and drinking really well. No more crying and struggling to breathe! Considering how critical she was it's incredible to see how quickly she can bounce back! At only one week old. The fight to live for her is real.
A massive thank you to everyone who has donated to Aida and Orange or shared our post. The suport and financial help is incredible and allows us to focus our time on her and the pups.

The current donations have made a good dent in our vet bills and taken some pressure off for sure! We still have a way to go so if you're able to share the post around that would be so very much appreciated.

Updates photos in the post so you can see how we're getting on 😍

help Ada's second chance at a happy tail!

Please meet the sweetest most beautiful lady Ada. Ada has been rescued from the far north where she roamed farms and roads with many near misses and has been left to have litter after litter. Last week her owners turned up at a trainers house and told her if she didn't take Ada they would shoot her.

Thankfully the trainer took her in and got in touch with us to see if we could help.
Then Adas angel Denika one of our Seniour handlers stepped up and offered to foster her.

So this adorably loving cuddly girl has ended up living in Auckland. We're now fundraising for her as she comes with some descent bills to get her into good health. She has something going on with her hips and requires X-rays, vaccinating, desexing, food, flea and worm treatments... the list goes on.
We're looking for some start up funds and seeking some support to help cover all the bills.

Denika has set up a give a little page if you're able to help we would be forever grateful. Ada is worth every peny. Please click this link below to donate.

Our goal on give a little is 1k but we're actually looking more like 2k now and unable to change the give a little amount so we're still needing to bring in a bit more cash.

Shout out to Your Mobile Vet Ltd for giving her a little free check over her for us you guys are incredible and we are so very grateful.

This is Gabby the wonderful, fabulous and extremely experience handler who is taking our overload for new years homestays. Let us know if you need new years homestays for your pups she's taking 2 special trips down for pick up and drop off and the dogs get to have epic farm runs on their incredible rural paradise ❤️

If your interested flick us an email at [email protected]. Dates are drop off 28th am pick up 7th Jan midday to pm cost $70 per day. Dogs can stay longer with K9 Cadets after this date.

Hi! My name is Gabby and I’ve recently relocated with my family up to the Far North from Auckland. I’m offering my services as a dog trainer as well as farmstay boarding service (with pick up and drop off) for the canines who also want a holiday while you’re away!

I have been training professionally for the past 9 years with thousands of happy clients and dogs. In Auckland I created and ran Pack Social - Day Camp For Dogs which started with my helping struggling owners with their reactive unsocial dogs and then in time evolved to incorporate group socialization, “stay and train” behavior modification and boarding. As well as pet work I’m also a professional dog trainer for tv and movies, having worked on more notable projects such as Lord of the Rings - The Rings of Power, Disney’s Mulan and M3GAN. In my spare time I’m very involved in protection dog sports, co-founding and vice president at APEX Working Dogs. Over the years I’ve competed in IGP/Shutzhund, agility, competition obedience and disk. My partner and I also breed pedigree Japanese Akitas and KNPV line Belgian Malinois. To say our lives revolve around the dogs is an understatement!

Over the past decade I have travelled the world apprenticing under some incredible trainers and attending seminars/workshops to advance my skills, keeping myself up to date with modern training techniques. I believe every case is individual and as such tailor a specialized approach to each dog and owner for the best results.

I look forward to sharing my passion and having the opportunity to help more owners and dogs achieve harmony in Kerikeri and surrounding areas 👋
