This gorgeous border collie recently completed a Board and Train program with us to work on anxiety and fear based behaviour towards people and new environments.

This girl used to avoid people and show high levels of stress around strangers, or in new environments/when things changed.

We worked very hard on exposing her to a wide variety of people and new places to help her learn that the world isn't so scary after all! She made heaps of new human friends and slowly built up her confidence and is now adjusting a lot better to changes and new environments. She did really well and is such a sweet girl who just needed the right guidance to build her confidence and trust 🐾

This handsome shepherd recently completed a Board and Train program with us to work on leash manners, reactivity, frustration biting and improving his general manners.

By giving this boy more guidance and helping him make better choices he quickly picked up the training and made incredible progress!

He learned that playing games with people was fun (as opposed to biting people out of frustration when asked to give the toy back), worked really hard on his leash manners, reactivity and overall manners. He's such a fun dog and we really enjoyed working with him 🐾

This golden retriever boy recently completed a Board and Train program with us to work on his leash manners and reactivity. We also worked on his socialising skills with other dogs as he lacked social manners and could be quite pushy with other dogs.

Although this guy loved other dogs, he would react by barking and lunging when coming across dogs on walks. We worked very hard on stopping this reaction when seeing dogs on walks and instead taught him to walk past other dogs politely.

He did very well and is an awesome dog!

It's that time of year when things start to get very HOT ☀️🌡

Please be mindful walking your dog in warm weather as the pavement gets extremely hot and can burn your dogs paws. A good way to test if it's too hot to walk your dog is to put the back of your hand on the pavement and if it's too hot to hold your hand there for 5 seconds, then it's too hot to walk your dog!

Heat stroke is also common in dogs around this time of year. Avoid intense exercise in hot weather. Signs of heat stroke can include:
- excessive panting or drooling
- pale or bright red gums
- saliva turning into a thick paste
- trembling/shaking or loss of coordination
- seizures or sudden collapse

If your dog is showing signs of heat stroke, please contact your vet asap as heatstroke can be deadly.

Puppies, elderly dogs and brachycephalic/short nosed breeds are most at risk of heat stroke.

The best time to walk your dog on hot days is early in the morning or later in the evening. There are also plenty of fun games you can play at home to keep your dog entertained when it's too hot to go for a walk 🐾

🐾 Available for adoption 🐾

Meet Bert, an approx 2-3yr old Lab mix boy.

Bert is a large dog weighing around 30kgs. He loves to be the "life of the party" and getting all the attention! Bert picks things up very quickly and is eager to please.

Bert is very social with other dogs and he would do well living with another 4 legged companion. A similar sized dog would be the ideal companion for him.

We are unsure how Bert would be with cats.

Bert loves everyone and would do okay in a household with children, however he may be a bit boisterous for younger kids.

We reckon that Bert's dream home would be a semi-active household where he gets a nice walk and daily brain stimulation.

Bert has been desexed, registered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. There will be a small adoption fee to cover some of these costs 🐾

If you are interested in adopting Bert or have any questions about our adoption dogs, feel free to send us a message or an email to [email protected]

We also have Bert's brother Ernie available for adoption.

🐾 Available for adoption 🐾

Meet Ernie, an approx 2-3yr old Lab mix boy.

Ernie is a large dog weighing around 30kgs. He is a bit of a couch potato and one of his favourite activites is having a big afternoon nap cuddled up on his bed.

Ernie can take a little bit to adjust to new situations. During his time with us he has become a lot more confident and is adjusting to changes a lot better.

Ernie is very social with other dogs and he would do well living with another 4 legged companion.

We are unsure how Ernie would be with cats.

Ernie would be great with dog-savvy kids who understand when to give him space. He is a very gentle, sweet boy 🐾

We reckon that Ernie's dream home would be a quieter household where he gets his daily walks and lives his best life cuddled up with his new family 🐕

Ernie has been desexed, registered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. There will be a small adoption fee to cover some of these costs 🐾

If you are interested in adopting Ernie or have any questions about our adoption dogs, feel free to send us a message or an email to [email protected]

We also have Ernie's brother Bert available for adoption.

This handsome boy will be heading to us soon.
Can’t wait to support his next chapter in life and finding him a new home.
Thanks Fundraising for Impounded Dogs - New Zealand for your support. 🙂

Update: no further funds needed ❤️

DOLLARS ARE NEEDED 🥰 POUND HOUND DEPARTURE TO NEW BEGINNINGS SOUGHT

$70 only to date for Loki … Poundie needs donations - this handsome lad has been hanging out for weeks with his pound team, quietly waiting for his perfect home to find him.

It’s time for him to move on - with all the TLC in the world from his team, there’s only so much waiting in a pound a lad needs in life. He has been well looked after by the team at Waipa Animal Control, and a guest at their Kihikihi facility near Te Awamutu. High time for a change of scenery however.
He has been offered a super spot with a trainer in Christchurch for a little more polish - he just needs to get there. (Rolly Canine)

A flight from Hamilton to Christchurch is optimal - the team aren’t sure a big roadie would be in his best interests.

Goal is $540 to get him his own flight… of course if anyone suitable happens to be flying Hamilton to chch and can add him as “checked luggage” - that makes for more affordable flight options again.

Can we help this handsome lad? We said - heck yes!

Donations to help him on his way:
