It's been a bad day!

If anyone wonders if they should neuter their cat or not, I hope the following will steer you in the responsible direction.

Rowan came into our care last Friday. She was heavily pregnant, she'd had a litter in May and was about to produce another. She'd had at least two litters of kittens a year for the last 5 years.

She was living outdoors, but had clearly been a pet cat. She was desperate to get into a house. So we took her, despite having no pens to put her in. The Glasgow adoption centre had offered a pen, if we could get her up there.

However, the vets felt she was too near giving birth and was already exhausted with over breeding.

So she came into my spare bedroom, quickly altered and registered as an emergency foster room. I already have two pens in my garden with a family of cats in one and a poorly cat in another.

We waited, but no sign of kittens. Rowan was infested with worms, vomiting them up and having dreadful diarrhoea as well.
We watched and waited as we hoped for a labour to start. Nothing. Vets attended throughout the week and advised...nothing.

This cat was too exhausted to make contractions and lay listless.

Last night labour started, but no contractions. This morning it was clear Rowan was in trouble and an emergency dash to the vets was had.
She stayed with them, worn out and past it. They did everything they could to support her labour...but still no energy to make contractions. It was decided our only option was an emergency caesarean.

This afternoon, two vets attended Rowan and did their best for her. Sadly she didn't make it and went into cardiac arrest just as they were sewing her up. Her body was exhausted, worn out, starved due to feeding and making kittens. She was all kitten, with a bloated belly, but all else was skin and bone...literally.

We lost this dear little cat today on the operating table, but before she left us, she gave life to 6 kittens. She starved herself of life to give them life.

They will never know the warmth and safety of their mothers belly, her teats full of milk, her smell to comfort them and her skill sets to teach them.

This little cat gave her life, because she's hard wired to breed, breed, breed. Her body was literally worn out, drained of any fat, muscle or nutrients. Her pelvis and uterus were also worn out. When this happens, cats can't contract and complete their birthing process ....it's a pretty crap way to die.

So if you think it's okay to leave your UN neutered female out and about from 4 months of age...it's not! If you think it's ok to leave your 4 month old male out and about with his trouble truffles in place...it's not.

I've spent the last week watching a cat slowly die, because her owner didn't think she should get neutered. She was 5 years old.

Female cats can get pregnant from 4 months of age, really not good for them! They can get pregnant one week after giving birth to kittens. Having two litters of kittens a year will drastically shorten a female cats life.

So spare a thought for your cat if it's not neutered.

This branch offers a generous neutering scheme in the DG8 and DG9 area (Scotland). If you are out with this area, please contact your local branch to enquire about their neutering scheme. For £10 a cat you can get it neutered.
Simply email [email protected]

If you still think it's not kind to neuter your cat.....spare a thought for Rowan tonight, who died of breeding exhaustion and leaves 6 orphaned kittens behind.

Personally, I'm sick of hearing about accidental litters of kittens arriving. It's not rocket science, if you let your female cat outdoors and she's not neutered, she's going to get pregnant!! Get this, if you have a male and female cat as
pets and they're not neutered....they're going to breed.

RIP Rowan...you deserved so much better😿

THE NECK KILLED THE INNANITION
No, she is not desperate. She is dead.
This is how her family found her.
It didn't work if they put lots of water and lots of food because I can't feed myself. The necklace prevented her and (what's worse) killed her.
Many people have the obsession of placing cats collars or (even worse) collars with rattle..
This is a serious mistake, because cats are not like dogs. Cats jump or get into any hole and the collar is very likely to get caught.
This one died of starvation, but others die hanging from trees, windows or furniture.
There are necklaces that open themselves, but they can also fail. So it's best not to put anything on them.
The ideal is that they carry a chip in case they get lost.

For those who still don't understand... 🤦 ♀️
If you don't neuter your cats, then assume kittens that are born on the streets.

Because You Let Her Roam...
Because you let her roam, she wandered away,
Through streets unknown, in the light of day,
Her eyes wide open, her heart full of glee,
But the world out there was no place to be free.
Because you let her roam, she crossed that road,
A fleeting shadow where the cars flowed,
With no one to hold her, to keep her near,
She faced the dangers that she couldn't hear.
Because you let her roam, she chased the night,
A silent hunter in the pale moonlight,
But in her quest for the world untamed,
She found a fate that couldn't be named.
Because you let her roam, she's not coming home,
Her soft, warm purrs now left alone,
A life once cherished, now lost to the wild,
Because you let her roam, you lost your child.
Because you let her roam, she sleeps today,
Beneath the earth where she used to play,
Her spirit free, but her body still,
A quiet reminder of a roaming's ill.
Keep them close, within your care,
Love them deeply, keep them there.
For outside those doors, where dangers loom,
A roaming cat may meet its doom.
So cherish the life you hold so dear,
Protect them always, keep them near.
For in your arms, they’ll safely stay,
And never be lost to the world’s harsh way.

She was not mine but I loved her all the same. RIP little girl 💝

Help out strays this winter. Cut a hole in bin and fill with straw, not blankets or hay. Fabric/ blankets will freeze but straw won’t and will help keep them warm.

This is Caroline. She moved overseas with all her animals.
She never wrote on Facebook "I'm giving up my cats and dogs because I'm moving"or I'm having a baby or I've had the animal a year, two years or more and now I suddenly don't have time for it or can't afford to feed it.
So, when you get an animal, remember that it’s a fragile creature, part of the family and must follow you everywhere you go, otherwise don’t get one!!
Be like Caroline.

"Most people think that cats do nothing, are lazy & do nothing but eat and sleep ...
It is not so!
Do you know what a cat's mission is?
All cats have the power, every day, to remove the negative energy accumulated in our body ... as soon as we fall asleep, they absorb that energy. If there is more than one person in the family & only one cat, it can accumulate an excessive amount of negativity by absorbing energy from so many people ... When they sleep, the cat's body releases the negativity it takes away from us.
If we are too stressed, they may not have enough time to release all that negative energy & so, as a result, it accumulates as fat, until they can release it.
So, they get fat and you think it was the food you were feeding them ... or because they don't move enough ... the truth is, they don't.
It is nice to have more than one cat in the house, so that the weight is divided between them.
They also protect us during the night, so that no unwanted spirits enter our house or our room while we sleep ... That's why they like to sleep in our bed.
If they think we're fine, they won't sleep with us.
If there was something strange around us, they jump into our bed and protect us ...
If a person comes to our house & the cats feel that that person is there to harm us or that he is bad, the cats surround us to "protect" us ...
If you don't have cats & a stray cat comes into your house and adopts it as a home, it's because you need a cat at that particular time ... So the stray cat volunteered to help you.
Thank the cat for choosing your home for that job.
If you have other cats & can't keep the stray cat, find a place for him.
The cat came for a reason unknown to us on a physical level & in dreams you can see the reason for the appearance of the cat at that moment.
There may be a debt, some karma he has to pay ... "So don't freak out or frighten the cat."
Well, "he" will have to come back, one way or another, to fulfill this obligation ...
Cats heal us. Cats are adorable creatures & they love their owners above all else, but they have a different way of loving ...
Their love is true, so don't doubt it.They are our great & true friends & above all, good companions.
