too important not to share. Regardless of whether you are barefoot, shod, shoes on front, nothing on backs... whatever it is - heel is so so important and is so very often trimmed out. Flat, wide and squished frogs are not healthy. Look at the overall balance as outlined on this share, it will give you a great guidance to work off of. If your horse is constantly sore, performance issues, always needs chiro/massage - take a close look at the hooves! Happy horsing 🧡

Last week i said goodbye to my dear friend, my heart horse. Myne is the cover horse of Horse Harmony and rightly so. What i have learnt from this incredible horse, i am eternally grateful. She still has so much to teach and guide me. 20 years we were together and we had some fun times and fond memories and the ultimate sacrifice you did give from unconditional love. I am honoured to have been your human. Fly high, run free of pain and keep that sass my girl. 💚🧡💜

Finally! This is not ‘normal’ in a horse. I have said the same on horses i have treated and made recommendations. On one occasion the horse then visited a well know ‘equine chiropractor’ to be told there is nothing wrong!!! If your horse has a hunters bump... there IS something wrong!!!! FACT.

Great feedback coming in on Inside Out by Healthy Horses Inside Out TM & All rights reserved Copyright 2017

Received this amazing feedback and photo over the weekend. "This is my daughters 14yr old TB. Started him on inside out 7 wks ago as his feet were crumbling. Farrier said his feet already looking better, & what about that shine. He is covered but hasn't been groomed in ages as been turned out."
Thank you so much for the feedback, i LOVE hearing how your horses are all doing!

Life is super busy with an amazing but alas sometimes challenging 2.5 year old in tow! Good problem to have, when you can't get her OFF the horse!! I've seen around lately the numerous posts of grass effected horses being that time of year. Thankfully no grass-i-ness here even on less than ideal grazing conditions. OUr horses are on Inside Out and System Support all year around. Have been getting amazing feedback for both System Support and Inside Out Plus - which is an ALL in ONE broad spectrum supplement. Both provide toxin binder, organic magnesium and pre & probiotic for tummy healthy. All products are really cost effective, because feeding your horse doesn't mean having to get a second mortgage!! Another amazing day, yesterday in Christchurch. Thank you Sarah of Blackburn Equitation for hosting me. As always an amazing host. 😊 So excited to see the improvements in all hooves in just 4 months. Flares, chips, cracks disappearing, heels starting to come in along with concavity. Also amazing opportunity to trim a severely post laminitic horse with some pretty messed up feet. The change in this horse in between one trim cycle was amazingly gratifying. Love what i do 💜

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Best feedback ever, is when your past young student who is now in their teens, can teach other kids about working with their horse to form a great relationship and results happen. The whole aim of teaching, happier horses and riders/kids! Pretty chuffed.

Look at this amazing result! Just delighted with how the whole herd is looking and moving, no easy feat to achieve 9 horses all at the same time doing great!

My main mare, Mine was definitely not in a picture taking mood this afternoon, as you can see her trying to hide behind Danny. I have had this mare a long time and i have never seen her dapple up this exceptionally - there are dapples even on her butt! This particular mare is on the 40g Inside Out dose.

I'm am really delighted with how ALL 9 horses are looking. It's a challenge trying to ensure all 9 are doing great, and i sure am stoked with how they are doing.! All did well on the original Inside Out formulation, but this new improved version is really making the difference.

An amazing outcome for a client i have resumed trimming for. Her young horse has been having trouble cantering under saddle from the start, and had started to show some other signs that all wasn't right and starting to esculate - grouchy saddling, pinning ears back when asked into trot, loosing top line, restricted in the shoulders, and trouble holding hooves up for trimming.

He had some sacrum discomfort and shoulder tightness, which we had started to rebuild the heel buttress epescially in his hinds as he had nothing which would help elevate/prevent this.

At the end of his trim today, i did a very quick basic treatment and discovered both Ist Ribs restricted, the right had been going on for a while, the left more recently. The compensations had started to move through the the rest of the body, which I did some basic releases here also.

His delighted owner messaged me later that afternoon "Hi Tina, had a great lesson today and we cantered!!! he gave a little bit of a kick out but that was nothing as bad as what I've had previously. And she (her trainer) said he looked so much better in the shoulders. Thanks so much!"

Absolutely love working with owners that really try to listen to their horse. The outcomes are always so much greater.

I was so delighted to treat a clients horse last week that had been going fantastically since last treatment in April 2018, but then a week ago stopped picking up the correct canter leads and his owner/rider thought he was tight in his shoulder/s. Not picking up canter leads is a very clear sign that there are restrictions especially in the 1-6th rib area.
I love these particular owners as they don’t tell me exact details, just allow me to find whats going on in the horses body. In this case his left 1st rib (and therefore shoulder) was restricted which would mean he had a hard time picking up a left lead. This then has a flow on effect through the body. It hadn’t been going on for long so was a ‘quick’ fix as compensations hadn’t set in.
It was confirmed a few days later, it was the left lead he was having trouble with but had been ridden since session and was back to himself and picking up leads easily.
This horse has also been on Inside Out minerals for approx 8 months and looks amazing. Has an amazing silver glossy coat. His owner reports that he has more top line (no other changes) and has never shined like he does now.
Happy Horse = Happy Owner = Happy me! 😊

LESSON TWO: SARAH & ROCKY
This lesson was a ridden lesson which started with a very brief check on groundwork, focusing on relaxation, calmness, rythym and connectedness. Once some very subtle changes happened heading towards these, it was riding time.
The ridden lesson was based purely on safety, ensuring that Sarah could bend Rocky to a stop. Now there are many different versions of bending a horse to a stop. We are looking for softness, calmness and ensuring Rocky is still connected and not checking out and most importantly ensuring he is not falling on the forehand; which very commonly happens.
Rocky is still learning his responsibilities of maintaining gate and direction. They both started out a little jerky and unconnected. Towards the end of the session they were a lot more fluid together, there was a lot less brace happening and Rocky was learning the ropes of his responsibilities. Once i knew everything was working okay, i put a couple of distractions in place with another ridden horse. They both came through with flying colours and went on to trot. They ended on a really nice walk-trot-bend transition. We ended the session on the ground with some basic tips on bodywork an owner can do to help keep their horses back tension free.

This the first of a series of 6 lessons with this lovely lady, Sarah and her horse Rocky.
Sarah has had Rocky i think for 18 months and has had some setbacks and then sorted a lot of physical issues and is now ready to enjoy a ride. Her initial goal was to use these 6 lessons to have a confident relationship handling him on the ground. However upon talking a bit further we changed this to getting a ridden relationship underway in order to best utilise the lesson time. Sarah has had a few lessons last year with Rocky on her ground work.
I really like to set people up in lessons; once i know they are safe; in situations that may arise when im not around. My ultimate goal is to set Sarah up, so that she can confidently deal with any situation as it arises.
After a quick check on the ground work, it was evident that the basics were pretty solid. We headed out on a walk which Sarah had had some issues with Rocky the week prior.
The walk is quite narrow, with a river on one side, bushes and trees and large neighbours fences many with barking dogs. So it was an area for initial concern for Rocky. Although the groundwork was solid in a familiar area, it fell apart slightly when Rocky and Sarah lost their connection with each other in a new environment.
We worked a lot as we moved along the walk, on re-estabish correct form/bend and some yeilds. We did this calmly and persistently, until Rocky found relaxation and with it came rythym and then connection. We fine tuned Sarah's observations of what Rocky was portraying and changes when they came about and talked a little about what to do when. Rocky internalises a lot, so upping the pressure and getting him moving only hypes him up and causes him to brace. I don't inadvertantly wish to teach our horses to brace. Instead we passively worked on exercises until he found his own mental relaxation. There is always a time and place for upping pressure or the ask, and for decreasing pressure/the ask - the tricky part is knowing when to do what.
The walk finished with both happy, relaxed and connected. Sarahs homework is to walk out once with Rocky.
Next lesson, we are aiming to start in the saddle with the ultimate goal at the end of 6 weeks to ride out.

Poor Mine had a bit of a rough day yesterday. A trip across to Matamata Equine Vets and 4 teeth extracted later. She is very glad to be home, and still not talking to me :( But it had to be done. The xrays showed the roots were rotten on all 4 and would have caused major issues further on down the track. Alarminly one of them showed no outwards trauma and was the worst to remove. In true Mine fashion, she was a major handful to be sedated (one hour) and definitely gave the team a run for their money - and our bank balance! lol Thankfully the remaining tooth roots looked good except one which we will need to keep an eye on. Loved looking at the xrays! Apparently it is very common in older horses and highlights the importance of regular trained dentistry.. Thanks to Georgia Worth - amazing dentist for the referral and to Matamata Equine Vets, highly recommend both.

Another beautiful day on the farm. It really is a little slice of paradise. Choices. We all have choices in life and its something i feel quite strongly about with our horses too, that they have choices. One of those things is living environment. Our herd have a lot of choices of where they can go, what they can do in their own time. The don't live on a track but they can utilise their track anytime they like - to play in the water feature as seen here, to shelter or snooze under the big trees, to have a sleep in their paddock or to meander wherever they want. It keeps them active, curious and happy.

Happy Anniversary my main mare, Mine!. 17 years ago today I started my partnership with you. Boy have I made a mass of mistakes with you along the way, and with the skills and knowledge that I have now, i would have deffinitely done things a lot differently.
My eye always drifted to you in the paddock, there was definitely a connection. You were named Fireband when you were first born. Then at your next home, everyone always asked who's horse was that, and the owner would say 'Mine' and then the name just stuck.
I remember having to herd you from a big paddock to a smaller one, to a smaller one eventually to some yards just to attempt to catch you, all while you were trying to kick my head in. There must have been something okay about me, as you finally accepted my touch and then me into your world.
In the early days I remember you dumping my ass with a saddle bag full of cold Cody's ready for an overnight camp up the mountain. I was too broken to go. After this i was too scared to get back on you, so my mate did and you decided it would be fun to jump the gate at a stand still and bolt off up the race with a broken rein. But my mate had it sorted and I eventually got back on.
I remember a group of us always riding all over town, you so confident out on the road, nothing deterred you and i never have seen a horse to this day extended trotting down the road with her head in someone's garden grabbing a bite on the way. And the time you whacked my leg into the big lamp post on the way home, because i had no clue about yeilding then.
You deffinitely were the boss for a while there, until i figured things out and the tables turned, but i still let you think you are. hehe. I think back and not sure if i was naive or dumb, but we got there in the end.
Thank you for your endless patience and love with me, your my soul horse and you hold a very dear place in my heart for the things you have taught me. I am forever grateful to my mate for selling you to me. As you are now 20, (but still act like a 6 year old) your home is here with me and that is my promise to you, to your last days.
