Stupid META closing down all sorts of pages. Oh well 🤦🏼‍♀️👏

Gidday members,
Long time since we have posted on the page, But for Some reason “META” think that we have breached community standards, which I can only guess is having a horse/animal promotion page which non racing people/greenies take exception too.
As no one can remember our password to put in a review of this closure we have no recourse 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
If things change for us here in Stratford then we will open another sort of page/group.
Sorry for this happening not only to our page but many pages/groups are being closed by META, so we are not alone.
It has nothing to do with the fact that we haven’t posted in ages it’s just a thing that’s happening to many groups/pages, example local buy and sell pages, knitting groups, you name it many are getting shut down.
Don’t forget to support your local trainers although there aren’t too many left now, perhaps follow the local gallopers instead 🤣
Thank you All for your support of us over the decades and we hope with fingers crossed that the racing industry can change and bring some sort of racing back here 🤞
Thank you to our sponsors over the years we really couldn’t have done it without you.
If we start up again we will send out as many invites as we can, thank you all once again for your unbiased support of us both on course and on the page.

It’s that time if the year again where it’s AGM time and membership renewal time.

The AGM is set down for 26th March at 1pm under the main grandstand at the race course.

If the future of the club is important to you I suggest you come along and have your say, if you feel that there is no future again come along and have your say.

The Stratford Trotting Club would like to extend its sincere condolences to Noel Poingdestre’s family at the sad loss of yet another Taranaki Trainer and owner.

Noel trained out of Hawera and has trained many a horse.
He currently has a horse called Manny who raced last weekend at Hawera on both days and came 4th.

Noel spent many years working with another passed trainer from Taranaki Keith Chittenden and the two would often travel around the north island in Chittys distinctive truck.

Sadly Noel’s wife passed away the week before and last Friday Ray Collins bought Noel down to the races to watch for the final time his horse Manny run.

Noel passed away Sunday evening and now rests in peace with his wife Tuck.

This rug will be given to the winner of the Colin Jones Memorial Stratford Trotting Club Handicap Pace which is race 8 at 4.34pm.

We would like to thank Saddlery Warehouse for the
rug.

Colin Jones was a great committee man for our club and held several positions in his time from President , Vice President & Treasurer. His business acumen was second to none.
Colin was made a life member of the club many years ago An honour he took pride in.

Colin was very much into breeding and bred many horses such as Andreas Knight, Cyclone Knight, Knights Desire to name a few and had them trained by his mate Robbie Hughes of Cambridge.
Sly Punter is one of the last he bred who is racing under the Susan Branch stable.

The first race tomorrow is at 12.33pm at Hawera, with the second day on Sunday 5th.

Good Afternoon Punters 🐴

This week sees your local trainers Racing at Hawera on

Friday 3rd February with the FIRST race kicking off at 12.33pm with the TARANAKI STEELFORMERS HANDICAP TROT, of course sponsored by our very own of which Stratford Trotting Club are very very thankful for your continued support.

Race 8 at 4.34pm is another Stratford supported race. This race is the COLIN JONES MEMORIAL STRATFORD TROT CUP HANDICAP PACE.

Your local trainers Farley Cossey and Davey Jones both have horses racing on both days at Hawera this weekend.

Race 1 at 12.33pm sees Farley with “Highview Rockn Roll” and his other runner “Constance Claire” is in Race 6 at 3.56pm

Race 5 at 2.47pm sees Davey Jones with “Artful Living“ trying to continue his grass track winning form.

Stratford Trotting Club would love to see you at the track on Friday to support your locals and their amazing sponsors on this first day, but don’t forget Hawera are racing on Sunday the 5th as well.

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of one of our stalwarts for the club.

Colin Jones you held many a position over many decade’s for The Stratford Trotting Club, from President to vice-president and most notably as treasurer.

Colin Owned & Bred many horses through his love of the industry, some of these are:
Andra’s Night
Knights Desire
Cyclone Night
Too name a few.

To Trish and family please accept our sincere condolences at the loss of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
