Animal Motion NZ Specialising in animal chiropractic services for equine, canine and felines. What is it? Who can benefit?

Janine is a 2006 veterinary graduate from Massey University with over 15 years in practice. In addition, she has furthered her expertise with the International Academy of Veterinary Chiropractic and is a member of the Veterinary Society of Chiropractic. Based in Swannanoa, North Canterbury and specialising in equine, canine and feline services, Janine is bringing a modern, diversified and friendly

approach to improving your animal’s wellbeing. Animal chiropractic is a manual therapy that focuses on the neuromuscular skeletal system and involves adjustments on restricted or fixated joints. It can assist in alleviating pain or spasms that may be limiting your animal’s movements and even affecting their behaviour. Used in conjunction with traditional veterinary care, chiropractic is an effective and valuable means of restoring and maintaining your animal’s strength, agility, and well-being. Just like people, our animals can suffer from joint pain and restrictions. This can easily lead to added stress on other joints, muscle complications and a poor quality of life. It makes sense that if we can benefit from a chiropractic approach, they can too.

- Reduce and relieve pain and discomfort
- Preparation for competition
- Recovery from injury
- Age-related pain
- Dealing with chronic disease
- Osteoarthritis and other lameness

Canine chiropractic care….do you want that competitive edge for agility or the show ring? Or do you have an elderly dog that’s becoming a bit stiff? Chiropractic adjustments could be just what your dog needs to feel and move at their optimum.

Saw this handsome, happy boy today! He is a Flatcoat retriever, not very well known in NZ, hence the poster on the van 🐾💕

Flatcoat retrievers are a versatile and energetic breed that originated in England in the 19th century. Originally bred as hunting dogs, they are known for their excellent retrieving skills and love of water. Flatcoats are also beloved family pets, known for their friendly and outgoing personalities.

🐾💕Happy National Pet Day💕🐾

🐾 Today we celebrate National Pet Day! Did you know that this special day was started by animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige in 2006 to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption and responsible pet ownership? 🐶🐱 Let's take this opportunity to give back to those pets who are still looking for their forever homes. Consider donating to a local animal shelter, volunteering your time, or even adopting a pet in need. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our furry friends! 🐾💗

I love introducing other modalities of treatments to my clients to help their animals if they need something “extra” ….thank you MK Equitation • PEMF Complete for coming and treating this gorgeous boy ❤️🐴

What is PEMF?……PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. It involves the use of electromagnetic fields to stimulate the body's natural healing processes. PEMF therapy can help improve circulation, reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and promote overall wellness and can be used to treat various musculoskeletal conditions, such as arthritis, tendon and ligament injuries, and muscle soreness. PEMF therapy is safe, drug-free, and can be easily administered by placing specialized PEMF devices on specific areas of the horse's body.

🐾 Dear Animal Motion followers 🐾

I hope this post finds you and your furry friends in good health and high spirits. Today, I wanted to share some exciting news with all of you. After much contemplation and heartfelt consideration, I have decided to embark on a new venture that I believe will greatly benefit our beloved pets and their families.

Introducing my new at-home pet euthanasia business! 🌈✨
Loved Pets At Home Euthanasia

As some of you know this year our family has had to say goodbye to some of our dear old dogs. Going through this difficult process made me realize the importance of having a compassionate and personalized service available for our furry family members during their final moments. It was during this time that I recognized a significant need for this service in our area.

For many years, I have been contemplating the idea of providing a at-home pet euthanasia service. I believe that being able to say goodbye to our cherished companions in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by love and familiar surroundings, can bring immense peace and solace to both pets and their families.

My goal is to offer a compassionate and gentle end-of-life experience for our furry friends, ensuring their comfort and dignity until the very end. I understand the deep bond we share with our pets, and I want to provide a service that honors that bond and respects the journey they have taken with us.

I am truly grateful for the trust and support you have shown me throughout the years as your animal chiropractor. It is because of your encouragement and the love I have for animals that I am able to pursue this new endeavor. I am committed to providing the same level of care and compassion that you have come to expect from me.

If you or someone you know is in need of at-home pet euthanasia services, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I am here to support you during this difficult time and ensure that your beloved companion receives the peaceful farewell they deserve.

Thank you for allowing me to share this exciting news with you all. Together, let's make a difference in the lives of our furry friends and their families. 🌈 ❤️

With warm regards,
Janine

Very true… we have all seen the videos 🙈

Very true… we have all seen the videos 🙈

Recently we have had a couple of people getting in touch thinking that what we do is similar to some of the viral animal manipulation videos doing the rounds.

Chiropractic for animals should be joint specific and very quick which lessens the force required to deliver the necessary adjustment (I.e. high velocity, low amplitude). The art of chiropractic is finding the joint(s) restricted and using an adjustment to re-initiate optimal motion thereby improving the neurology and motion.

When your animal attends the clinic or we visit your horse, time is taken to make sure they're happy and content to be examined and treated. Watching adjustments is often relatively dull and minimal.

Videos showing fore limb leg separations and massive jerking movements or extreme animal reactions is not chiropractic.

*The post says: “can” look boring. Chiropractic to me is an art where it’s as specific as possible with as much speed as possible which reduces force as much as possible. You don’t have to agree but I won’t tolerate abusive private messages.

I’m so lucky to have the best clients! Some of my gorgeous patients…..thanks guys for making this possible 💜💕

Always a pleasure seeing the handsome Jack ❤️

My dogs all do sports. so they have fitness programmes and the occasional check up by a professional.

Today it was Jack’s turn to visit Janine, who owns Animal Motion https://www.facebook.com/animalmotionnz and he seemed to really enjoy himself 🙂

Can’t recommend Janine enough! She is awesome , a vet and a chiropractor, and she lives 10 mins from our house!

(PS he is fine, just keeping tabs on him after his spinal infection earlier this year)

Thank you to all the amazing vet nurses I have had the pleasure of working with over the years! You guys are amazing! ❤️❤️

Vet Nurse Awareness Week (VNAW) is just around the corner and starts on the 9th-13th October, yay!

We know just how awesome you all are and feel your awesomeness needs to be celebrated so please get mentioning VNAW to your vets and colleagues and plan something special.
This can be a shared lunch, an in house awards presentation to mark what each of you do wonderfully in clinic or just a good old bit of tea and cake!

Vet nursing is such a rewarding and diverse job, one that has many different career pathways and such a variable work load.
It is an amazing career, but it can also be a tough one which can come with some challenges. The Vet Nursing industry is small but supportive in NZ and we encourage you all to support one another and take not only this time on VNAW to recognise this but remember ALL the time what a huge difference each and every one of you makes to animals and people lives.

The NZVNA executive committee has a wide range of nurses all of which have surprisingly different careers!
We are going to share our favourite pictures with you so you can all get to know us a bit better and know how we will be celebrating VNAW!
We would LOVE to see and hear what you will all be doing too, please do send us your pictures and we will post them during the week!

Today marks NZ National Pet Memorial Day. The second Sunday of September.

Put some time aside today to remember the special pets that have come into our lives and crossed over the rainbow bridge…..until we meet again.

Being pet owners and losing our own loved family members we know how hard it can be to go through the loss of a loved pet. Thinking of you all today as we remember those furry family members. ❤️❤️

For those of you that I have discussed using balance pads. This is a great special at the moment 😊

For those of you that I have discussed using balance pads. This is a great special at the moment 😊

SPRING SPECIAL ON BALANCE PADS! 🐣🌱🌷

Unlike humans, horses rarely take a load off! For horses that stand around on unforgiving surfaces all day, standing on foam pads can offer relief and comfort that they have never experienced before. Like stepping into a pair of fluffy sheepskin slippers after walking around on hard floor all day!

It's no wonder that they often fall into a deep state of relaxation within minutes. 🥱😴🤤

Balance Pads may also enhance the horse's proprioception - meaning that they become more aware of where they are putting their feet.

Standing on the pads will also engage the horse's postural muscles that are necessary for balance. Benefits may be observed in how the horse stands afterwards. Their static posture maybe enhanced. These improvements may also be observed in movement too. 🐎

Balance Pads need to be introduced to the horse gradually, and the horse must always have the choice of whether they participate in a session or not. The process is one of observation, communication and attunement.

Many horse owners find that using the pads (as instructed in the "How to use" handout) actually deepens the connection that they have with their horse. 🥰

Please note: the special offer is for Medium and Soft density pads. Some horses are best starting with Firm pads. I can add a pair of Firms for an additional $50, however there will be a delay of about one week for me to get more Firm pads in.
